andyhollingworth1: I’ve known Phil Ellis for 16 years and we’ve had so many conversations about his love for Rik Mayall! As a young lad. Phil idolised Rik and like many other of our finest stand-ups, he was genuinely the reason why he took up comedy in the first place.

It was so lovely to see Phil celebrate this on Friday night at The Rik Mayall Comedy Festival in front of a sold-out crowd at the Norbury Theatre. The howling daftness and skewed surreality of Phil’s ridiculous ‘Bath Mat’ show meant that we could all feel the great man in the room too - truly a baton passed.

We’re home until Friday now but will be back at the Country’s most happy little comedy festival on Friday.
