Selena's POV
Flight 3582: On time. The screen at the small airport in Milan flashed for the hundredth time before finally announcing that Nick's flight had landed. I watched from behind the glass walls as his plane taxied up to the gate.
A minute passed.
And then another.
It felt like ages before anyone got off the plane. As I waited for him, I could barely stand still. Nick was coming. He was joining us for the last eight shows of my tour in Europe since the Jonas Brothers tour had been cut short. I knew he had been kind of upset that the tour didn't get the response they had wanted, and that had caused a lot of tension, but I was ecstatic to get to have him on the last part of my European leg.
Although his visit was completely unexpected I was really excited to spend some well deserved time with him. After a few more minutes, I finally spotted Nick walking out amongst several other travelers. We locked eyes immediately and held our gazes until he was past the glass wall, holding his arms out for me.
“I can’t believe you are actually here!” I squealed as I felt his arms wrap around me. We hadn’t seen each other since Christmas. It had been months. I had missed him so much, it felt so right to have him here with me now.
Nick's POV
“Guys, let’s keep moving.” Jesse, Selena’s body guard, was quick to watch as people gathered around us. Photographers, media, and fans alike immediately bombarded us. Jesse led us out into the SUV waiting on the curb.
“Gracie has grown so much in the last few months. She’s talking up a storm these days.”
“Just like her big sister?” I joked and got a playful jab in return. Selena continued to talk about everything. I knew she was just excited to see me. But I was too lost in my own thoughts to even try to follow her excited chatter.
“Nick, are you listening to me?” She said as we pulled up to a hotel.
"Huh? Yeah, I've missed you too baby" I shot her a smile hoping to have answered correctly.
"I don’t know why you aren’t paying attention to me, but I asked you if you wanted to tag along with my family to Venice later this week since I have a few days off or head directly to the next venue.”
"Venice, definitely. We leave on Friday right?" I regretted the last sentence as soon as it left my mouth knowing too well I had made myself sound like I already knew the entire plan. Smooth acting skills Nicholas, good job.
Selena's POV
Something was up with Nick and I knew it. He sounded way too sure about Venice, as if he already knew what Momma and Brian had planned. I tried to bring up the subject at dinner and after a few awkward stares between everyone I decided to drop the subject.
"So I guess we'll see you in the morning guys,” Brian said, gathering Gracie into his arms. She had fallen asleep on the couch as we enjoyed drinks after dinner.
"What do you mean?" Nick and I asked at the same time. We had the presidential suite of the hotel, meaning we had five bedrooms. We both assumed they would be staying with us in the suite.
"Come on, sweetie.” My mom laughed. “We know it’s been months since you two have seen each other. We want to sleep, and we don’t want to think about what is going on up here. We have a room downstairs.”
“Are you sure?” I felt awkward knowing that now everyone in the room knew what was going down in just a little while. Even though we weren’t teenagers anymore and they obviously knew Nick and I were together in that way, it was awkward to hear my mom talk about my sex life.
“Definitely. Enjoy your night.” She smiled as they left.
Nick wasted no time wrapping his arms around me as soon as we were alone. “Good thing they left. I wouldn’t want you to wake everyone up. You know how you get when I do that thing.”
“I am not that loud!” I giggled as his hands cupped my behind.
"Yeah right, we'll see about that,” He smiled as he pressed his lips to mine and I remembered what it felt like to actually be with my love again.
Nick's POV
Three days and two shows later we were finally flying to Venice. I had waited so long for the day to come, but as it got nearer I was beginning to panic. The worst scenarios and what ifs kept jumping in my mind every single time I looked at Selena. This trip had been planned since Christmas, but it had taken me a month to get every little detail arranged.
"Ladies and gentleman, we are making our final descent into Venice. Please fasten your seat belts, raise your seat trays and bring your seats into their upright position.” I took that as my cue to wake Selena up, knowing she would get cranky if she wasn’t given adequate time to wake up before we got off the plane.
“Good morning, beautiful.” I sang quietly into her ear. She immediately began to stir.
“It’s not morning,” she yawned. “Are we there?”
“Almost.” I nodded, feeling even more nervous than I had earlier in the flight. I was most nervous about Selena figuring it out. She was always curious about everything. She already knew something was up, but I didn’t want her to accidentally ruin anything.
“Hey Sel, you know how much I love you, right?”
“Of course I do.” She smiled, still looking half asleep.
“If you love me, you’ll go along with everything I tell you this weekend. I have some romantic surprises for you because I knew we were going to be in Venice, but I want you to go along with everything I tell you. No questions, okay?”
“Nick, what are you up to?” She giggled.
“Promise.”
“I promise I’ll try not to ask any questions.” She smiled, looking excited about her upcoming surprises. I only hoped she still seemed both surprised and excited once we got to Venice.

Nick’s POV
As we slid into a booth, I prepared myself for a meltdown. I had no idea that Selena hadn’t heard the news. It had been all over the media for the last week. Justin had gone on David Letterman to announce the engagement, and the next day he had announced the pregnancy on Ellen.
“Sel?” I placed my hand on hers and waited for the reaction. I could see her processing, but I couldn’t tell what she was thinking.
“It’s just weird, you know? They are having a baby. They are getting married.”
“Yeah, it is.” I nodded. I was in a place in my life where I would have loved to marry Selena, but it was a lot to think about with both of our careers going at full blast right now. We saw each other once every couple of months; that was no foundation for a marriage.
“I feel happy for them, though. I think.” She said as she sorted through her thoughts.
“You don’t feel upset at all?” I questioned her. I knew she was still very raw when it came to Justin. I didn’t like it, but I tried to accept it and move past that.
“Not really.” She shook her head. “I would be, if I didn’t have you. But we are in such a good place right now, I can’t say I am upset at all. I love our life together.”
“And I love you.” I smiled as I leaned across the table and kissed her.
Selena’s POV
I made it through the night, sleeping soundly next to Nick. I thought I would’ve had an episode, even though I had been over Justin for years. Sometimes looking at pictures of him and Madelyn would trigger something in me and make the nightmares start again, but not tonight. Was I finally over Justin for good? Was I ready to be with Nick, forever?
“Good morning, beautiful.” Nick smiled as he woke up. “I missed waking up next to you. How did you sleep?”
“So good.” I smiled as he kissed my forehead. “I missed this, too, but I’m starving. Can we go eat breakfast?”
“I think I lost weight when we were apart because I was able to go hours without focusing on my next meal.” He joked playfully as he got up. I put on his oversized t-shirt and wore it out to the kitchen. I didn't know if Joe was around, but I didn’t want to be surprised.
“Pancakes, my love?” He asked as I hopped onto the kitchen counter and watched him do his thing. He had become an excellent chef in the last few weeks, which made me happy since I couldn’t cook to save my life.
“So, I think we should talk.” Nick said as he poured batter onto the skillet, forming four perfect pancakes.
“Oh, this sounds serious?” I realized this wasn’t going to be the light-hearted breakfast conversation I thought we would have.
“Well now you’re going to have to tell me whatever you are talking about.” I laughed after a couple of minutes of silence. “Come on, what’s wrong?”
“So all of my family is coming up for the holidays since everyone wants to see the new baby and everything. And, you’ve already met most of them, but that’s when we were just teens and not really into it. Now that we are both serious and committed to this relationship, I would love it if you and your family would come over for Christmas. I want to spend every moment with you, Sel. I’ve missed you so much and you can totally say no but,”
Nick’s POV
“Nick,” Selena interrupted me mid-ramble. “Take a deep breath.” She laughed and pulled me to her. She wrapped her legs around my torso as she pressed her lips to mine.
“You’re such a sweetheart and I totally forgot how much I love this side of you.” She grinned as she pulled back and rested her forehead against mine. “I need to ask my parents, but I’m sure they will agree. No one is coming from Texas this year so it was going to be just us, anyways. You don’t have to get so nervous.”
"Alright then.” I smiled. “Just let me know if you are coming. Oh, and should I get them something? I'm definitely getting something for the prettiest girl in the house but what about your parents?”
"I mean it's not that you have to get them anything but if you want to I guess they would appreciate it; and don't worry, the prettiest girl in the house already has all she needs this Christmas,” She grinned as I escaped her grasp to flip the pancakes that were now almost overdone.
"I meant Gracie, but very well then, no present for you.” I laughed as she hopped off the counter and hit me playfully.
Selena’s POV
“Mom, please be nice to Denise. Brian, please be nice to Nick. Gracie, please behave.” I tried to not be nervous as we drove to the Jonas estate, but I was nervous. My palms were sweating. Denise had always been the ideal woman, and I was constantly trying my best to impress her. But bringing a three-year-old into the house and having my southern mother and overprotective step-father sounded like a recipe for disaster.
“Merry Christmas!” Nick smiled as he came to the door to greet us, placing a polite kiss on my cheek before saying hello to the rest of my family.
Nick took my hand and immediately led me into the living room where a lot of his family was mingling. Kids were running around. Baby Jack was being passed off from person to person. All of Danielle’s family was here as well, so there was a ton of people in the house.
“Grandma, this is my girlfriend, Selena.” Nick grinned as he introduced me to his grandmother. He took me around to each member of the family for a personal introduction before we sat down to dinner and then to presents.
“Look Selly!” Gracie grinned as she opened her presents from Nick. “A princess doll!”
“Cool!” I smiled, loving watching her little face get so excited over each present.
“Open your present, babe.” Nick nudged me. I picked up the small box in front of me and began to unwrap it. When I opened the box, I was somewhat confused as I looked at the ring. Please, I thought to myself, don’t propose.
“It’s a promise ring.” Nick said and I immediately felt relieved as he took the box from me and put the ring on my finger. “I know we still have a couple of months on the road, and I don’t want to propose until I can be with you everyday and really enjoy our engagement. But, I want to be with you forever, Selena. This ring symbolizes my everlasting love for you.”
“Have I mentioned how much I love this side of you?” I laughed as I tried to keep from crying. “I love you.”
“I love you.” He kissed me Merry Christmas, Sel.”
Happy early birthday Alexa!

Selena's POV
"Please Selly! Sit with me" Gracie cutely asked for the hundredth time since we arrived to the airport. She grabbed my hand as we walked onto the plane, ensuring her spot by me.
"Are you excited for Christmas, cutie? Do you know what to ask Santa to bring you?" I said trying to sound as excited as possible. I was excited to go home and to celebrate the holidays, but I hadn’t slept for days. I hadn’t slept well in months
Gracie thought about my question for a couple of minutes as everyone got settled into their seats. Her little eyebrows furrowed which meant she was thinking, and just as we were taxing out of the gate she finally answered.
"A guitar! To sing like you!" She happily squealed and I felt my heart flutter. Even though I was constantly jetting around the world and never really got to be around her as much as I would like, it still warmed my heart when she made it clear that I was still her big sister and she looked up to me.
"Well I hope you were good this year. I hope Santa brings you a guitar and not a stocking full of coal!” I laughed as she squealed.
“How about a movie?” I asked, yawning. I wanted to sleep now so that I was rested by the time we got back to Los Angeles, I would be rested enough to enjoy Nick’s company. Nick, I smiled as I thought about him. I hadn’t seen him in almost three months. I couldn’t wait to get home and see him.
I got Gracie set up with a movie on my iPad. We were both asleep minutes later.
Nick's POV
I had finally arrived back in Los Angeles a few days ago and today was the day Selena was coming, too. I was bursting with excitement. I had missed her so much. Talking on the phone and on Skype was great, but it wasn’t the same as having her with me.
I was excited but nervous, too. We hadn’t spent Christmas together before. All of my family was coming to LA this year and I really wanted to introduce her, again, to everybody. When we had dated the last time, it had been a joke. We had been so young, everyone knew we weren’t going to last. But now, now we were serious. I didn’t know where we were going, but I wanted to be with her. I wanted everyone to know I wanted to be with her.
I was pacing around my house waiting for Selena when I heard the car pull up. I felt bad pulling her away from her family, but she had reassured me that she had spent lots of quality time with them in the last few months. She wanted to come see me, and that was all that mattered.
“Holy shit, my girl is hot!” I laughed as I walked outside to see her getting out of the car. Her crop top brought my attention straight to her flat and toned stomach she had achieved while on tour. She let the driver get her bags as she ran onto the porch and wrapped her arms around my neck.
“Oh, I missed you,” She sighed as she helped me tightly.
“I’ve missed you so much, baby.” I smiled as I kissed her cheek. She quickly pulled back and looked at me for a second before she pressed her lips to mine.
“I can’t believe you’re actually here. I didn’t ever think this day would come.” She sighed as she pulled back, resting her forehead against mine. “You’re mine for three whole weeks.” She said as she placed as light kiss against my lips again.
Selena’s POV
It took us an entire ten minutes before we made our way inside and up the stairs to Nick’s bed. Even though it was great to just be with him, the sex made everything that much better.
“God, I missed you." I yawned as I woke up after an after-sex cuddle session. I hadn’t intended to fall asleep, but I already felt more rested than I had in months.
“I missed you, too.” He smiled and kissed me.
“I’m so hungry. Do you have any food here?" I yawned again as I sat up.
“No. I haven’t had a chance to go shopping. Let’s run to Rudy’s. I’ve been craving pizza.”
“You really are my soul mate.” I laughed, thinking pizza sounded great.
We wasted no time getting up and dressed. Big Rob picked us up fifteen minutes later to escort us to dinner. I hadn’t given the paparazzi a single thought in months, since I was usually on my bus and meeting with fans, so when we got out at the restaurant I was shocked to see dozens of men surrounding our car. Nick led me through the chaos. He tried to block me from the flashes, but he couldn't block their screaming.
“Selena!" “Nick!” “How do you feel about Justin’s baby announcement?!” “Are you still in love with him, Selena?”
What? What were they talking about? I had been staying off social media. I hadn’t heard anything about a baby? Justin was having a baby? With who? That girl he had dumped me for? That wasn't going to last. What were they thinking?
“Do you know what they are talking about?” I asked when we were inside the restaurant.
“No one told you? Justin and Madelyn are engaged and pregnant.” He said softly as I felt my heart sink.

Selena's POV
“Good work, baby.” My mom caught me as I ran off stage for an outfit change. I hurried backstage with my dancers, stripping out of our current costume as we went. I had a little over two minutes to change and get on the lift.
"You alright Sel? You don't look very good,” Charity asked while running around trying to change to the next outfit.
"I don't think I've ever been this tired. I could fall asleep standing up right now,” I whispered feeling that if I spoke normally right now I wouldn't be able to do so on stage. I hadn’t felt this exhausted since the last time I ended up in the hospital for exhaustion.
"We're halfway done!” She tried to encourage me, but the look on my face told her I wasn’t buying it. “I’ll talk to your mom and see if she can clean your schedule for tomorrow, that way you'll be able to sleep all day. Come on we've got thirty seconds,” she said while pulling me to the lift that would get me on stage. I sighed, grabbed my sparkly mic, and smiled as big as I could as soon as I started going up.
Nick's POV
“Shh, Jack, it’s okay.” Kevin bounced up and down with baby Jack. He was now four months old and had developed colic. For the last two months we had been touring, the baby was constantly screaming.
“Seven more months of this.” Joe smiled at me. “What in the hell were we thinking when we signed up for this tour.”
“I have no idea.” I laughed.
“Guys, I’m sorry.” We’ll get back on the other bus I just wanted to let Dani sleep. She hasn’t slept in days.”
“It’s okay.” I was always the first to apologize. Joe just rolled his eyes. The tension between us was still bad, but we weren’t constantly fighting like we had been when we were doing promo.
“I’ve got to make a phone call.” I sighed as I walked to the back of the bus. It had been weeks since Selena and I had the chance to speak. Even though we were both touring in America, we were constantly catching each other at the wrong time. She would be asleep or in a meet and greet when I had a moment, and I was always busy when she was ready to talk. In the last week, she had turned down the last three Skype dates I had suggested and she had stopped responding to my texts. Desperate to find out what was going on, I called Mandy.
"Hi Nick,” Mandy answered on the second ring.
"Hey Mandy, do you know what's going on with Sel? She's been really distant. I can’t even get her to talk to me now.” I felt weird turning to Mandy, but I was desperate.
"We've noticed it too,” She sighed heavily. “I think she's just tired and stressed about everything. You know how she gets. She’s been working non-stop the last two months almost everyday and it's taking a toll on her.”
“Do you know if she has any free days? I want to be able to talk to her, but she’s always busy when I try.”
“I’ve cleared her schedule tomorrow morning. She has soundcheck at three, but nothing until then.”
“Great. I’ll just call until she answers then.” I smirked, knowing she would be annoyed but hopefully it would get her to answer.
“I think talking to you will really help. Try to get her to relax a little? She just tries to be so perfect and ends up overworking herself.”
“I’ll try.” I felt like I could calm her down over the phone, but a part of me really wished that I had a day off to go see her. I needed to make sure she was okay. We still had another month before I would see her and that seemed like entirely too long when I knew she was in such a bad place.
Selena’s POV
“Selly! It’s ringing!” Gracie yelled as she jumped onto my bed and looked at my phone.
“No, it’s not.” I hit ignore without looking who it was. “Go find Momma, Gracie. I don’t want to get up yet.”
“It’s ringing!” She alerted me seconds later when my phone started up again. I hit it and it stopped. I waited for Gracie to leave, but she continued to sit.
“It’s ringing!” She yelled again.
“Who in the world?” I sighed as I gave in and opened my eyes. I pulled my phone and squinted my eyes enough to make Nick’s name clear.
“Baby,” I sighed as I answered. “You better be dying or something.”
“I’m not, but I wanted to make sure you’re not! I haven’t heard from you in weeks, Selly.”
“I know. I’m sorry. I just got in one of my episodes. I’m stressed about everything.”
“Well get up and Skype with me. I want to see that beautiful face of yours.”
“Do we have to do this now? It’s so early.”
“it’s noon, Selena. I know you have been sleeping all morning. You’ve probably gotten more sleep than you have in months. Now get up and talk to me.”
“You’re mean.” I whined as I tried to muster up enough energy to even sit up.
“I care about you. There’s a difference. I’m skyping you in two minutes. You better answer.”
Nick’s POV
I gave Selena a long two minutes before I tried to Skype. I was pleasantly surprised when she answered on the first ring.
“Hi!” Gracie waved to me. Selena laughed as Gracie watched the screen, fascinated by it.
“Okay, Lil G, you got to say hi. Now go find Momma or Daddy to bother for a while.” I watched as Gracie pouted and Selena lifted her off of her lap and sent her on her way.
“She gets cuter each time I see her, just like you get more beautiful.”
“You’re trying to be nice since you were so mean earlier.” She glared at me.
“I am trying to make you snap out of this constant state of stress. Don’t you remember how much you liked me two months ago? Don’t you remember how we used to talk all the time? This is the first time I’ve seen your face in a month.”
“I’m sorry,” She apologized. “I really do love you, even when I’m horrible at showing it.”
“I know. But you’ve got to make me a priority or we’re not going to make it through this. I love you, but we both know being on the road is hard. If we let it take over our lives, there’s not going to be anything we can do.”
“Only seven more months apart.” She smiled. “But only thirty-one days until our holiday break.”
“Thank the lord. I can’t wait to see you. And hold you. And kiss you. And,”
“Gracie is sitting right outside my door. Stop there.” She smiled, giggling for the first time. “I can’t wait to see you. I love you, Nicky.”
“I love you, too, Sel.”
