Vote for Corales de Paz which has submitted a #coralreef restoration project for financial support to this year's EOCA European Outdoor Conservation Association´s spring call. The project has been pre-selected among more than 140 projects around the world to be voted by the public. The resources requested to EOCA will be used to carry out maintenance and monitoring of the nurseries and fragments for 15 months or until the fragments reach the appropriate size to be transplanted, with the assistance of #artisanalfishermen and volunteer divers.
The public voting is open from 9 to 23 March. Read about the project and vote by visiting www.outdoorconservation.eu or vote directly at the all English and German Websites: http://www.outdoorconservation.eu/project-info.cfm?pageid=19 http://www.eoca.de/project-info.cfm?pageid=19

Black Mud #Terrapin spotted on #CousinIsland this week. This species (Pelusios subniger parietalis), is #criticallyendangered and continues to be threatened from habitat loss due to human impact, such as; continuous drainage of #wetland sites, #pollution and #invasiveplant species. All has contributed to the reduced numbers of Black Mud Terrapins around the Seychelles. Here on Cousin Island this species is protected from human–#wildlife conflicts like this. We only have a few Seychelles Black Mud Terrapins here on Cousin Island, but with substantial wetland area, an ideal protected habitat, this species has the opportunity to possibly increase in numbers.
