PSA: Indefinite Hiatus

I thought I was going to be able to do it, but I'm not.

College has officially started for me- I'm already bogged down with a 24-hour schedule and I'm just not able to channel Gaia like I used to. I’ve been really forcing her as a muse lately, and getting very little results from it. With the move to the apartment and about to start a 24-hour college schedule, it’s hard for me to focus on roleplay at all, much less on a muse that I've not felt for months. I apologize to those of you I’ve kept waiting, starters and replies, but I've put this off long enough.

I really don’t want to keep burning myself out on her and leaving you guys without a reply for x amount of days and then it not be quality enough to match what you took the time to type out. You all deserve better than that.

I'm going to leave her account up, at least. Maybe I'll bring her back one day, maybe not. But either way, I'll miss you guys a lot. If you want to keep in contact, message me and I'll link you to my personal or an account I'll be a bit more active on.

Thank you all for being patient with me as long as you have. I'm sorry to drop things and let you all down like this. I hope to see you all around sometime.

"Oh…nothing much…humans are disaster makers by nature, I can’t help but find them… likable. However, when they invade on what is precious to me, I find them sinkable. If this party is left alive, they may do more damage then they already have to your precious dolphins and sea life. Their expedition could interfere with both of our…interests."

The Goddess twirled a vein of hair around her fingers, weaving it from smoke to satin before the Guardian. She was telling the truth in actuality, and was not playing at anything. These Scientists were causing more damage to the sea than good.  But Eris ALSO wanted the Nature Guardian on her side, for future endeavors. She had both personal and strategic reasons as to why she did, and did not want to reveal anything just yet. The expedition was going to chip away at her prized grave site, Atlantis, and these pathetic mortals were not ready for the truth. But Eris knew it, and would gladly give it, only if the time and price were right. "So you see, as bad as I can be, I do have others interests at heart."

That last part almost made the Goddess break, and laugh hysterically at it’s half truth.

Raising a brow, Mother Nature listened as the chaos goddess made her case before her. Her face remained passive, borderlining unimpressed. Certainly, Eris could think of others and their interests and hold them in regard.

So long as they coincided with her own, of course.

"How very...Considerate of you, Eris."

She could not bring herself to judge her entirely for this aspect. She herself held this mindset, not getting involved with others unless she saw fit or they in turn could further her intentions. Though their motivations were often very different.

The news of the scientists, or human-related damage in general, came as no surprise to her. Humans had reigned destruction on the planet that nurtured them since their creation, and while it in turn infuriated her, she had long since stopped hoping for their betterment in such matters. As soon as they started making progress, they themselves crushed it underfoot for the sake of their own base desires. Sloth, lust, wrath... Were there anything to their religious upholdings, many embodied their vices, and it shown daily in the scars of her Earth. Her scars.

Rising from where she sat, Gaia crossed her arms and eyed the goddess pointedly. "And so you would like the 'go ahead' from me to allow your weather-centered catastrophe to deal with these tomb-raiders, then?"

She smirked more easily, relieved that the topic was moving away from prying into her personal thoughts and feelings. The yaahl would much rather let the green mother—or anyone for that matter—believe that she were up to no good like in the old days rather than the reality of her more current situation. She preferred to keep her outward image as a trickster spirit intact.   ”Some would say that you should, but that would just make things harder for me, now wouldn’t it~?" She paused as if in thought before continuing. “That is…if I felt like rousing myself to get up into mischief again." She lifted a hand to flick back a loose strand of wet hair back over her shoulder. Xhuuya was pleased with her own reply. She felt it served to further nudge the conversation in a more comfortable direction while boosting her own image by hinting at past deeds. She knew this game and played it well.

Crossing her arms gently, Mother Nature was silent a moment as she looked the elder spirit over. There were instances it could be pointed out how they were alike. Perhaps too alike in the sense, which might explain their constant need for confliction. And yet Gaia could not deny the air of pride she adorned, what she clung to. It was something she understood. Perhaps that was partially how she could see past the old raven's egocentric response. Perhaps that was also why she also couldn't bring herself to call her out on it.

They weren't friends; Gaia held no illusion to that. The raven would likely not want to spill anything, much less something she felt better hidden, to someone that rested on such rocky terms with. To be exposed to someone you did not completely trust was, however irrationally, a wound to a person's pride. There were few such things left to ones as old as they could still claim as their own. She would no more deny Xhuuya her pride than she would her own, so long as it did not spawn stupidity in the aftermath.

"Hmm, yes well, I believe such are better left to...Younger generations," she replied airily, waving off the look of apparent interest she'd adored mere moments ago.

Bending down, her attention turned to the ground -no, something far within it - and it almost seemed for a time, with the intensity of her concentration, that she'd forgotten Xhuuya's presence until she spoke again to her. "The wind will be coming from the north soon, and the humidity will level itself out. You should be fine within the hour should you not take to the skies on your own," she muttered offhandedly.

She offered the other a deadpan expression as response, clearly unimpressed. She replaced the now drier feather back in her hair while rolling her eyes in exasperation. “Your opinion, and I don’t normally take much stock in the opinions of children. I’ll not be making any special exceptions for you I think~” she drawled. 

Xhuuya turned her head slightly to look at the green mother sidelong. “You may~” She responded with a small smirk.

“Though I hardly see why it’s any of your business really, I’ll humour you anyway.” She shrugged. “I was—” She paused, deciding upon a different answer, “……I was resting.” She ignored the dampness of her poncho and crossed her arms, looking away from the other. “Is it so strange nowadays for a spirit to wander the still places under the canopies~? Are you suspicious of me~?” She asked with a sly half smile.

Mother Nature was many things, but a fool was not one of them. The spirit's pause did not go unnoticed. Strange, she thought to herself, but not likely anything of importance.

Gaia did find it odd, however, that she seemed so adamant to hide her true intentions. She'd never seemed one who worried about what others thought of what she did. Why lie now?

"I don't know. Should I be?" She shot back, tapping a finger lightly to her chin as she mirrored the Yaahl's expression. If she tried hard enough, it didn't seem an issue for the Earth Mother to discover her intent on her own. The problem with that being she would have to care more than a little to try. What the Raven chose to share or not to share didn't concern her unless it directly interfered with or involved her.

Jack had never felt so bad in his life. Considering how old he was, perhaps not as old as most, but it was enough time for the guilt to weigh heavy on his heart. For a moment, he stalled. He did not want to follow her. Dark thoughts, not of such deep set fatalities came to him, but rather of ones where he would disappear.

She said for him to come with her.

In return he replied, “You could put me to sleep.”

She very well could as well, he was sure of it. Jack had woken from the ice and by the state and age his body was in, he assumed he had laid asleep under such icy depths from a baby sized form until the adolescent one that he was right then. She was right in so many different ways. Jack was not important.

He was chaos, a mess to her systems, a problem to the guardians, a creation of the moon perhaps, that had been forgotten. The sun that warmed his skin did so as though it was acting like something of a comfort. As if it was agreeing with such a notion. He clenched his fists together, and shut tight his eyes.

“You could let me sleep and never wake me up. Every sprite I’ve met has said it; even you- there is nothing I can do that is of benefit to this world, so why don’t you remove me from it. Put me back where the moon dragged me from?” It was not like Jack to think such thoughts, but he had seen her gaze before, in the form of Bunnymund.

Jack made children laugh. He enjoyed their smiles, and lived for his name almost spilling from the tip of their tongues, but it was never to be. He never thought about everything else he was disrupting and he imagined he never would. He was selfish, he was pained and he was scared. Perhaps he should visit the bogeyman, now that might help him out a little bit.

He wondered for a vague moment, why everyone cared for the chaos he created with gentle gestures and stern telling off, while when it came to havoc caused by the shadows and fear- he had never seen the nightmare king before, but he had seen the fights that came from him, and such ferocity truly scared him.

She paused in her stride, listening to his melancholy words with a growing frown. Even now, Jack Frost was beyond thinking of his own guilt. Were he to concentrate, the damage might have been mended already, saving only the headache the humans themselves would cause in his aftermath to deal with. It was all she could do to keep her patience. Perhaps it was due to his three centuries alone that he acted like this, he'd had no one to look out for him-but Gaia was long past caring.

Hypocritical of her? Very likely.

After all, there once was a time when she herself was in his position, and she'd had to learn her purpose alone, just as he did. But those were days long since past, and in one so ageless, it was often easy to forget what it was like in such a difficult stage.

Would she have been any different if someone had been there to guide her? Maybe, in some way, but did that make him her obligation?

The Earth mother could scoff. Hardly. But... This one thing she could offer him, at least. If Frost would get ahold of that brash spine he prided himself so much on.

With a heavy sigh through her nose, Gaia glanced over her shoulder to address him.

"Jack, were I intending to do anything of the sort, I would have done so already. Not offer you one last stroll through the forest. Inefficient and, frankly, a waste of both your time and mine."

Turning to face him fully, her eyes narrowed with annoyance. "And do not presume to put words in my mouth, boy. I called you a troublemaker, extended to even a nuisance. But nothing is without its purpose.  And as much as a headache as you've proven to be, you are not without purpose. Whether or not you've realized this yourself is on you." Features mellowing, she raised a brow. "Now I could leave you to wallow in your misery and self-pity till you melt away into a puddle, or you could consider my offer to join me. There is something I wish to show you."
