For he looked directly where Astarion's comment directed his gaze: another makeshift creation of hers twisted around her neck and back to cover her breasts rather than the typical bandeau style she tended toward thus far on their journey. Ensnared in his trickery or not, a smile curled his lips, unashamed to admire the view the vampire pointed out.

Halsin tilted his head to one side, gaze automatically sizing the other elf up. Considering his own size, why she would offer in the first place. If he slowed down in his pace, he did not do so out of exhaustion. Instead, he likely heard the call of an injured creature or one that wished to share gossip with him, or spotted a wild berry bush to collect fruit from for their rations.
Perhaps she simply thought him too old for such a hike...
The druid cleared his throat. " I appreciate the offer, Nat, but I can manage just fine, I believe. I know my advanced age might suggest a lack of energy, but I assure you, I am as spry as I was one hundred years ago. " He chuckled. [Is it bad that, when I think of Halsin staying in Reithwin for like the rest of his life or even long term, I get this uncomfortable itch? Like it's cute and romantic and all, and plenty argue it's exactly where his arc is supposed to end but like. I don't know. It feels...wrong to me?
Not in the sense that he wouldn't go at all! I think him helping the refugees and rebuilding Reithwin after the curse is lifted is a perfect project for him! But that's the thing: it feels like it should only be a project, not a permanent station. I think it goes back to how I feel about his romance ending, too, in that it feels like the devs just wanted to "tame" him so he's more palatable as a romantic partner to more people. But also in the broader sense, I think I just cringe at the "tame the wild person" trope that the devs seemed to go for with Halsin because it suggests that the way he lived before, either as an Archdruid or before that, was wrong (and I know the Archdruid was not a choice, but even with that it feels like they're getting into "being a druid is somehow wrong" mentality).
So, I think my itch does just come from that feeling that his ending just feels like an excuse to domesticate and tame him, to say that who he is is somehow wrong and improper when being who he is IS and being accepted is a big part of his arc imo. Plus, I feel like he's going to run into the same issue with becoming Archdruid even early on in Reithwin: he's likely going to be pushed into a leadership role whether he likes it or not which it just perpetuating exactly what he didn't like about his life before he left with the tadpoled crew. So I think that contributes here, too.
What this rambling amounts to is there's a part of me that wants to change what he does post game a little. Or maybe just make it more flexible? Like I've already got it to were he still roams to some degree, disappearing from Reithwin just because he wants to be closer to nature or for some druid problem that needs solving, traveling as a healer, etc. But there's a part of me that wants to go further with that and not make Reithwin his permanent home. I think that, after some time, he would feel like they don't need him any more and feel the need to move on, to take up some other project or travel or something because I sincerely think he will never give up that itch to roam (yeah I know when you romance him he says he doesn't want to anymore but again: this is part of the problem for me).
I think he will always go with the refugees post game because it fits him that he wants to help these people because helping people is a big joy and satisfying for him, but I think I will make it less strict if he STAYS there, I think is the point here.]

With his duties as Archdruid, he only knew Unarseldo in passing and word, spoken of in letters from his great grandfather and guardian after the untimely passing of his parents. Somehow, it came as no surprise that they would meet in a more formal capacity. Though, the druid certainly wished it would be under less dire cicumstances.
