The former Monkee offered up a fascinating, sometimes wobbly 90-minute set that showed the 76-year-old’s durable artistry.
When the pot starts to affect the performance, isn’t it time to cut back ?

Dale, the dog, died. She had been wan and weary these last few weeks and finally stopped eating. This morning she slipped away. I will bury her next to Roy and Lily in the back fields of Roysdale.
Remembering Nezs much loved dog, Dale. RIP Sept 5th 2013.

Has the whole nez situation gotten atleast any better at all? I'm just so scared and worried abt him, I feel like he could put an end to it if he felt he had to but that doesn't seem likely Do you think he'll come back to being his regular self? Ever?
Well, Anon…if you look at the last few posts on here, you’ll see the situation is still pretty much the same. The “book club” livestreams are still going on, and as uncomfortable/awkward as ever, according to folks who’ve watched. And now there is an FNB Redux tour coming up in October, which under any circumstances would be wonderful (because the backing band is truly amazing and talented), but now feels like a continuation of Nez’s “assistant” pushing him to be someone else–namely, his 1970s self.
This also went out in a recent VR newsletter, which gives the impression that tickets aren’t selling well (because why else raffle off tickets to a three-date tour?)…
As for Nez coming back to his regular self…well, who can really say at this point? It’s entirely up to him, whether he wants to keep going as he has been or make a change. It may be that all the pot smoking is keeping him in a sort of stasis, where he can’t see what’s going on enough to even realize change is a possibility.
But there is always hope, Anon. Those of us who remember what he was like before know that that Nez is still there, somewhere, and that he was a great guy just being himself. So the hope is that he’ll remember that too, and one day find his way back. Fingers crossed…
If Nez wants to get high - fine . But ‘‘ Every weekend Nez will be getting high and going live’‘ ? Makes him sound like a performing seal. Does videoranch really have to push Nez forward as some sort of novelty act to boost numbers for their Discussion group ? Perhaps if the moderator stopped blocking fans who want to join it might help ? Or is that too simple !
Happy Nez !

‘‘ Coming this Independence Day -- VOTE for your right to own a Mike Hat t-shirt! We’re on the fence over making men’s and women’s t-shirts… so let us know if you want one! ‘‘
Latest post from Videoranch on FB asking which shirts fans would like .But merch is being launched on Wednesday so obviously it has already being decided and ordered ! Just a way to get more traffic on the page. Will VR mention the Monkees at all on their page to sell these ??
2.18 - Mike Nesmith & Peter Tork
Mike Nesmith and Micky Dolenz of '60s pop group the Monkees are performing in NZ this month. RNZ Music's Elliott Childs spoke to Nesmith as he was enjoying a somewhat hazy afternoon in the Los Angeles sunshine.
Interview from before the tour. Surely it’s the job of his ‘‘PA’‘ to keep him informed of booked phone interviews ? Or is she too stoned to do the job!
