god used a careful hand when he drew each line of you, and he painted your curves with shadows. Deep, and full of places for my hands to explore. I wanted to watch over you, like a sculptor guards his art from the acidic rain, like a painter keeps his colors bright with new strokes, and how a gardener cares for his flowers even when the winter comes. Everything I write will always be too long, but never quite enough to convince you that you're more than anything I could make with these tired, tired hands. So I just admire from a distance. And hope one day my eyes, and your memories of me will tell you what my lips never could.
