"You were more talkative as a kid" as a kid you could just go up to someone and start talking about dinosaurs
Is there an AU where Ian Malcom, Alan Grant, and Ellie Sattler visit Jurassic World just to see if it is actually safe (itâs not, obviously)? Because Iâd find it really interesting if they just got caught up in all the chaos once the Indominus Rex escapes and creates havoc. And when Grant sees the Indominus heâs immediately reminded of the Spinosaurus. I feel like heâd also be really mad and disappointed of Claire. Not only because she was negligent of the parkâs safety, but also her nephews. Obviously theyâd all be, but I feel like Grant would be the most mad and disappointed. Iâd also like to see how Grant would react when he sees Owen cares about and trained the raptors. I just think. Itâd be really interesting

Tombstone(1993) dir. George Cosmatos
Tombstone is 100% Owen's favorite movie.
(Also the DP in this filmed rocked. The sunset shots are PERFECT. 100/10 would frame any one of them.)
Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday on the set of âTombstoneâ (1993)
just overheard my wife spelling something on the phone and i shit you not saying the words âE as in Eeyoreâ i am on my hands and knees wailing screaming crying pleading and begging people to learn the NATO phonetic alphabet
like the reason this exists is because none of the words sound like each other, which means that even with a terrible signal both parties should be able to clearly understand the words being spelled
i am dead serious that i believe this should be taught in school

one of the feminist aspects of the world trilogy that I love to chew on is just how exactly it subverts the prioritization of men. because you have your female lead and male love interest. which is already hugely subversive for the action sci-fi sphere. the genre is so famous for women being irrelevant that it is one of the primary spheres for the fridged wife, femme fatale, damsel in distress, etc. etc. so much of the genre is built on manâs pain at the expense of women, like, just as a class of people. dead wife, dead mother, dead whatever woman is available.
but world prioritizes these women. rather than being defined by the men in their lives, owen is the one defined by three central female characters. they all exist as characters outside of him, and much more so than he exists outside of them.
owenâs motivations are always spurred by one of them. he interacts with the indominus because of claire. he goes into the jungle because claire asked him to come with her. he goes back because claire asked and blue needs him. he drops everything to save maisie and blueâs daughter. even in his more nuanced emotions, such as the guilt about training raptors via FK, itâs always truly about The Girls. he lead the way because he got too attached to something close to four daughters. his narrative role is always to support that of the three largest female characters, not eclipse it.
but you take blue, and even a female dinosaur is prioritized by the narrative. she loves her father but she wants to be free. she got one taste of freedom, and she canât imagine being in a cage again. sheâs a wild animal. the second most intelligent creature to currently exist. she is not just his pet. she is something scientists are vying to capture and she is ushering in scientific breakthroughs via parthenogenesis.
and thereâs maisie. she loves her father, too, but itâs mothers that hold the most weight. she feels like she isnât a person because sheâs just a clone of someone else. sheâs a science experiment that can talk. and she takes it out on claire because motherhood is what matters to maisie and the narrative. the complex, and sometimes difficult, bond between female family members is what truly matters. she is not defined by having him as a father, but he is defined by being her father.
then thereâs claire. the objective lead and narrative driving force. she is so unambiguously an independent force that is is laughable to insult her with the title of love interest. the narrative prioritizes her again and again. her guilt, her family, her wants, her needs. itâs her guilt about the park that sets events into place. itâs her desire to have the biggest and best theme park that sets the pieces in motion. he is in the narrative when she WANTS him to be and only because she does (notice how his introduction in the first two movies is because she seeks him out). the narrative cares about owen because claire cares about owen. he is defined by loving her, but she isnât defined by loving him. that is her momentary wife in the fridge (plane crash) and her damsel in distress (all of jw2015). claire gets the ejection seat and keeps moving because she is the lead and he goes down with the plane and searches for her because he is the support.
a good way to inspire yourself to do more is to see yourself as the wacky sitcom B plot character in your friends lives, "wouldnt it be funny to tell the friends in my phone about it." has gotten me to do anything from going to a festival (excelent) to wild camping (it went badly) (coastguard called) to trying to get the train to stonehenge (stonehenge costs money so i ended up just getting lunch in sailsbury, it was okay.) i bought a bicycle today and 20% of my reasoning was "itd be funny to surprise my roommate by coming home with a whole bike." . life is for living. and baby i live for the bit.
Youâve no idea how often I do things cos my friends would think it was so cool and/or weird

"So you're the raptor Trainer I have heard about. It seems you have something with my daughter," The elder man started, a Scottish brogue on his tongue. "My name is Duncan Lister. Now... what are your intentions with my daughter?" [Thought you could use some dealings with Dad]
Duncan Lister. Owen knew the name immediately and the face almost instantly. Alexâs father had come to pay him a visit.
âYes. Your daughter is amazing, sir, and it is a privilege to have her in my life. I donât mean to be rude, but, right now I am in the middle of training my girls, and I canât leave them in the middle of a session.â
This was the day he had been waiting for. While his Alexandra may not have followed in his footsteps and gone down the path he wanted her to, sheâd made her own way and found her own strength. Finally, Duncan could rest a little easier now that he knew his daughter was in good hands. As he listened to this man in front of him, the mogul tilted his head and paid attention. Everything that he said made him question some things that Lorraine told him about Alexandra and their past.
âThat is the viewpoint of very few people,â Duncan stated, his brogue coming through clearly. âPeople think that money buys the things that make you happy, therefore it is the best. I was foolish in my younger years and learned that lesson the hard way.â
The elder man put his hands in his pockets and watched Owen, eyes narrowing a bit as the man seemed to be thinking about something that was hard to process. Once it was confirmed this would be the last time he would need to ask that question, he nodded once. âAye then. As long as this is the last time I need to ask it, I will wait for the conversation to become a plan. As for you,â he started before pulling out a business card. On the card was his companyâs logo, Lister Enterprises, and on the back was written a phone number with the UK country code. âI bet youâll have some questions about things. I know my daughter doesnât see me in the best light and Iâm sure sheâs told you her view on things. If you have any questions, you call that number and Iâll answer whatever you ask. Iâll be here for the remainder of the week for the unveiling of the new exhibit. Thereâs always a party and Iâll be there. Hopefully I can see my daughter before then. No. I wonât ask you to convince her to see me. I wonât get in the middle of this relationship.â
He bowed his head and then turned slightly before pausing. âA word of advice⌠donât trust Hoskins,â he mentioned casually. âIâm not a fan of where my money is going and something is boiling in InGen. I just canât find the source of the fire. Hoskins seems to be at the center of it with someone else. Be careful.â
"I've seen money ruin people," Owen said, a tinge of sadness in his voice. "Good people. It strengthened my resolve to not let it control me. That's not to say I don't have use for it," he added, out of honesty. "I just know where the line is, and not to sell my soul- or anything else- for it." He leaned heavily on that last part, unable to resist confirming again that Alex meant more to him than every dollar in the world. He knew Duncan could tell that... but it would kill him if he ever gave a reason to suspect the opposite, even unintentionally.
"You can trust me, sir." he said. "Your daughter's heart means more to me than life itself. I know you see that in me, or you wouldn't still be here."
Owen accepted the card, looking it over out of curiosity before he put it in his pocket. "Thank you. I'll hold onto that." He was beginning to draw his own judgements about the man before him. While he certainly knew Alex was a trustworthy source, he was surprised at the amount of love he had shown her despite her stories. Definitely worth thinking on. At the same time, he was grateful Duncan hadn't put him in the middle of his and Alex's relationship.
Duncan's word of advice sent a chill down Owen's spine. He had had a few suspicions about Hoskins himself, and this was more fuel to the fire. "For what it's worth, I trust my raptors more than I trust him." Owen said firmly. "If it's not crossing a line, can I ask what you've discovered? He hasn't exactly been the most welcome presence on site."

Alex had just been minding her own business. Granted it was the fact she was still working and fixing a few things around, but that shouldnât have been interfering with anyone. She was so focused on her problem and solving it, that she didnât hear someone come up behind her.
And then she didnât focus in on anything else. She only pulled herself out of her head when she saw someone in front of her and then felt hands on her. And then she was in the air and draped over a shoulder. âWhat in the name of everything science!?â She managed.
âOwen Grady what are you doing!? Why am I being carried like this? I can walk you know!â
@navyxnotnavajo
Alex smiled down at Owen and relaxed on his shoulder. She could be herself around him and she didnât have to worry about him hating her or thinking she was weird. He would give these sweet smiles and she truly appreciated those moments. Owen Grady was the perfect balance for her and she would do whatever it took to keep him happy and with her.
When he put her down, she smirked at him. âIâve run this island for years!â she shouted after him, dashing down the path towards him and then veering off to take a bit of a cut-through to get to the raptors. It was one of the ways sheâd met the trainer and she kept it in her pocket for times like this.
Owen felt a smile grow as he watched Alex dash off. This woman, I swear, he thought, vastly in love. He took off after her, bolting forward with the strength and speed of a man who had outrun dinosaurs before for his own survival. Surely he could beat Alex.
He whipped around the corner and found the entry door. Slamming in his code, he slipped past some very puzzled other employees to where the eggs were hatching. He twisted around, breathing hard and rubbing the back of his neck as he checked to see if Alex had made it there before him, mischief still in his eyes.
Alex laughed as she ran through the trees, enjoying the feeling of nature around her. It was all too familiar and she truly felt at peace. Maybe Owenâs nickname for her was right. She darted through branches and jumped over fallen trunks, enjoying the breeze she felt from the speed.
She skidded to a stop at the door seeing Owen right beyond the door, meaning he had beaten her. Keying her in code, she stepped in after him and smiled as she stepped up beside the raptor handler. âYou beat me⌠only by a little bit. I hope youâre happy and proud of yourself. Not many outrun me and you know it.â She looked behind Owen and saw the clutch, bouncing slightly.
âTheyâre almost here!â
Owen draped an arm around her shoulders, pulling her in as he grinned. "Winner takes the loser to dinner. Before you protest- by running a race with me, you consented to the prize," he teased. "You're the cutest. I'll race you any day." His eyes shone with joy. He had the love of his life by his side, and they were about to witness a hatch. What could be better than that?
One egg to the left of the rest was already more active than the others. "Look," Owen said, directing both their gazes over to the egg just as the tiniest crack began to form.
