Over time I’ve come to understand this better. It doesn’t mean that we choose each other in every moment of every day. It doesn’t mean we choose our partner at the expense of ourselves or vice versa. It means that we come back.  We are human. We are flawed individuals who get it wrong, let our egos get in the way, defend our positions, and don’t think about the impact we have on others.  Choosing someone and being chosen by someone does not happen flawlessly. There needs to be room to misstep and repair. It’s the repair that often creates room for the choosing because it’s often the repair that expands us into our awareness. Because our programming, coding, routines, and predictions run the show most of the time, we have to rely on our ability to reflect, own, and trust the strength and elasticity of the relationship.  Choice isn’t about each and every single moment. We couldn’t quite possibly chose someone in every moment, but we can choose to come back.
