When Magic Johnson was healthy, he was an unstoppable force. The are 6 foot 9 inch players in the NBA who are playing well at the center position, but Magic decided he was going to take his talents to the point guard position and was a huge mismatch. What made Magic so unstoppable is that he could keep up with any point guard in the league as far as quickness and speed, and his long arms allowed him to do things no other point guard could do. Magic Johnson was a highlight real on the court and would play perfect two way basketball. If Magic Johnson handed been infected with HIV before his career ended, he would have passed John Stockton on the all-time list. Magic was seen as a risk to infect others on the court and was not granted permission to play.

This was one of the hardest decisions to make on any top 10 NBA list. John Stockton had a long consistent career in which he and Karl Malone were unstoppable with the pick and roll. John Stockton holds the career assist record by a long margin, but longevity does not earn him the nod over our #1 passer. John Stockton with the help of Karl Malone turned the Utah Jazz team around and made them legitimate contenders every year. John Stockton was as good as any passer and any hardcore fan could easily make a case for Stockton as the greatest passer in NBA history, but not only was the #1 player the best passer in NBA history, but also the best point guard.

Not only did he lead the entire league in assists 5 times in his career, he also earned MVP honors twice. He was a dual threat who could pick apart defenses with his reliable jumpshot and unbelievable ad-lib like passes.

Although Chris Paul is far from finishing his career, I believe he has already established himself as a top 5 passer in NBA history. It comes by a surprise if Chris Paul isn’t the league leader in assists as he has averaged 9.9 assists per game so far in his career and shows no signs of slowing. Chris Paul seems to have gotten better with age as instead of carrying the New Orleans Hornets, he now has a capable supporting cast with the Clippers who are legitimate Title contenders. Chris Paul has transformed the Clippers into LA’s team and were actually coined the name Lob City because of how dangerous Chris Paul and his two flyers DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin were with alley-oops.
