I took these photos while in Wisconsin. I love each of these photos because I feel that with the sun setting at this time of day, it made my photos all look very soft. I love the soft glow of the light through the tree, and off the ice the sun very faintly breaking through the clouds is also something I wanted to emphasize while taking these photos!
When I look at this photo I see a young woman who seems to be trapped in what looks like a basement or a small confined space. Although I can not see her face, by the looks of here pounding on the wall I feel that she may be in destress or trapped. The lighting makes me feel as if she is somewhere with no natural lighting and is looking for a way out. -Nicole
When I took this photo I really wanted emphasize the emotion on his face. I feel that in this photo my subject is slightly upset and you can tell by the fact that he isnt smiling. I used the light from my kitchen window to single out his mouth which gives away his sadness because of the lack of smiling.
I took this photo of this angry woman pushing a cart because I felt that the woman was trying to hide herself. I’m not sure from what she would be hiding from, but she is wearing sunglasses on a gray gloomy day. She also had her hood up covering her face when it was neither windy or cold. The frown on her face makes her look miserable.
I like this photo a lot because there are multiple frames in this image. The pillars of the underpass frame the artwork all over the wall. The dirt, cracks, and scratches make the photo look dirty and old. The pop of color behind all of that from the artwork makes the photo look new and bright.
I really like the photos I took of this door because I specifically singled out the handle of the door. The handle had a very interesting texture to it. It looked as if it had been there for years because of all the scratches and chipped paint around the door. The old Rustic coloring makes the sharp texture pop.
I took this picture in the afternoon at a prairie near a lake. I decided to take this picture at this time of day because I felt that the light really gave the tall grass a nice glow. The time of day, and the lighting for that hour, gave the grass a very soft sense of lighting & little to no shadow. I think that the lighting also made for a very nice picture of the sky, giving it a baby blue fading to soft white color.
I used a mirror as my object for my photo assignment because I really like the way the reflection in the mirror enhances the mirror itself. Instead of being just a regular mirror, it now has a beautiful picture inside its frame. I like my photo and think its creative because I have my mirror placed right next to a single purple flower. Instead of being able to see a perfect reflection of a flower in the mirror, you see the colors of what is in front of the mirror. Not just a flower is seen in the mirrors reflection, but a mixture or purple and yellow and green, all the colors that made up the flowers and plants around my mirror. It is creative because when you look in the mirror you don’t know what you are looking at, but when you look directly next to it, you can see perfectly what is reflected in the mirror.
As I was taking pictures of my mirror in my yard for my object assignment, I decided to put my mirror in between a plant that I had sitting on my porch. As I zoomed in closely to my mirror I got a faint background of yellow from the flowers around the mirror. In the mirror I have the reflection of the long green plants with the little purple flowers around it. The yellow in my photo really stands out because there are large splashes of bright yellow throughout my photo. The rusty yellow coats the corners of my photo around my mirror almost as if its softly holding my mirror up to get a perfect reflection of the dark green and purple plant.
A hose is probably the most boring non creative object around your house. When you take a few minutes to really think about how you can make it creative, you can create some really neat shots! My first picture I decided to lay my hose through a flower pot I have on my porch, with the water on and the leaves surrounding it, it looked very light hearted with many textures and colors. It was very aesthetically appealing! My second photo I decided to wrap my hose around my moms feet! I had the idea to wrap a hose around someones feet. I called my mom outside and started wrapping her up! Although she thought she needed a pedicure before this picture was taken, it made for a very interesting photo!
We were given our first photo assignment at the college of Dupage this week, we had to take pictures of a hose! Yes, a hose! We had to go outside and take a creative photo of such a simple object we have walked past our whole lives, without second thought! I enjoyed this assignment because I really had to put my mind before my subject. Typically when you see something interesting you don’t even think about it before you take the picture! As for such a boring hose, I had to think about how to make it creative! I really enjoyed this assignment!
When remaking this photo that I took at an abandon barn, I decided to focus on the window. The original photo was not very exciting, but after a motion effect I made the motion come from the window. With straightening and cropping I made the image better. After a layer of detail extractor the detail in the bricks and the wood of the barn was really brought out.
I chose this image from the Garfield Park Conservatory to paint because I loved all the intertwining lines, and vibrant colors. I didn’t have many challenges in painting my image, the only part that gave me a bit of a hard time was when I had to paint over the pink. I didn't not want to extend the pink into the green too much. I feel that painting the image did enhance it because it looks more vibrant than it had before and less sloppy after it has been painted. I feel that it now flows better than it had before.
I chose this image to be small because it is really simple. I took this photo at the Graue Mill in Hinsdale. The window photographed was just one of about ten windows on a building. Being a single window, the photo is very simple. I feel that the more simple the photo is, the better it looks smaller. you do not lose anything from the image when you reduce its size. I feel that the image is very successful at this size!
I used these photos for my sequence assignment because they all go together to tell a story. These photos look like this girl is hurt or sad about something. I took four pictures of her to create one story. I put the effect on it so that it showed the images multiple times. I feel that the hazy look of the edit brings out the sad mood really well.
I made this Diptych after out field trip to Chicago. I took two different photos, one of a leaf, and one of a log. I then combined both photos and made it look the same on both sides, just one side has a leaf! I really like this photo because the mood is calm. Leaves and nature typically have a calming feel and that is what I feel when I look at this photo.
