the moment the bathroom door clicks shut, red pulls herself back for a moment & removes her shirt, tossing it to the side to be found later. honestly, she’s glad she had skipped out on wearing her usual layers today. then, with a ghost of a smirk, she settles her hands back on the fabric of his pants & yanks them fully down this time. “ you know, this isn’t exactly how i thought my morning would go, but i’m definitely not complaining. ” god no, the chance to get closer to jeff, to show him just how much she cares, is not something red would turn down. leaning forward, she gives him a quick peck on the lips before coming to rest on her knees in front of him, one hand settling on his hip as she slowly takes him in her mouth.

“Small town, Crestmont. Doubt you’ve heart of it since many haven’t but you’re not missing much. Besides the gossip that surrounds those who live there. I’ve lost track of how much I’ve heard and couldn’t care less for. It’s not my business.” He wasn’t the type to listen or let the bullshit he heard let him judge another. It wasn’t his place as it really wasn’t his business. “Baseball although that’s more of a school and free time thing. I use to go to quite a few parties back home. That was more for me, just to chill out and not worry about grades for a while, you know?”

“ well, you’re right about that. ” honestly, red is kind of clueless when it comes to certain things; geography being one of those things. her education was cut off at the age of eleven when the apocalypse started, so it’s really not her fault. not to say she’s a complete idiot --- the apocalypse has taught her a few things & she’s been taught to write & even read ( though she’s nowhere close to the level that she should be at ), so she gets by. “ i don’t blame you. partying sounds much more exciting than anything grade related. ” not that she’s ever been to a party, but the television makes it look fun. “ you any good at baseball ?? ”

red’s lips respond to jeff’s, his confirmation being the only thing she needs to go further. admittedly, she has experience in the department, but it still feels new to her. everything feels new with jeff. pants unbuttoned, she snakes one hand beneath the elastic of his boxers, thin fingers wrapping around him as she deepens the kiss.

“Red, I care about you. A lot. A whole lot.” It might’ve sounded slightly clingy but he couldn’t help how much he cared. He’d grown fond of her and only recently had he realised there was more to it. “I’ll like her. It’s you. I like you. I like you more than you know.” His heart was racing at this point. Getting closer and closer to actually admitting the truth when it came to how he felt. “This isn’t a spur of the moment thing. I’m not the kinda guy who fucks girls around. When I say I’m never leaving and that it’s a promise, I mean it.”

his words make her feel ANXIOUS. red’s never been good at letting people in; mostly because of her fear of having to watch them DIE. --- but she knows things are DIFFERENT this time around. they’re in new york & they’re safe & she knows that should be enough, but her stomach still rolls when he promises he’s staying. “ i like you too, ” she admits, frown pulling at painted lips, “ and i know i shouldn’t. we’re too different. you’re soft and kind and far too good for this miserable world. ” & she’s the exact opposite. she’s cruel & cold & practically drowning in the blood of her enemies, but SOMETHING about jeff makes her want to try. to stay. “ i ... promise i’ll never leave you either. i’ll stay as long as you want me to. ”

the gentle brush of his thumbs against the pale skin of her hands has red’s heart jumping to her throat. she still feels confident, but it’s simmered down to a soft giddiness now. “ are you sure about this ? ” she mumbles against his lips, fingers hesitating when it comes to removing the lower-half of his clothing. she’s ready, eager, but she NEEDS to know he’s one-hundred percent on the same page as her.

As he listened he expected the conversation to go south from there, expecting her to push him away as each word made it feel that way, except he was wrong. Very wrong. He knew promises were impossible yet he couldn’t help but want to promise. A smile grew as he heard she was attached as in all honesty he was right back. “Who the hell cares what the future holds. Shouldn’t we just live right now? Because right now I can promise. And I will promise. And I will never leave your side.”

honestly, it’s tempting to push him away & end the conversation. it would surely save her from any future pain. --- but red’s come to have a soft spot when it comes to jeff, so she doesn’t dare. she needs to be brave & see this through. “ --- and what happens when you come to regret that ?? what happens when you see the real me and don’t like her ?? ” because god knows she’s  NERVOUS for when she finally has to show her true colors. finally has to admit that she’s got blood on her hands & will surely have more when she’s done in new york. “ are you going to keep your promise then, or is this just a spur of the moment thing ?? ”

It was the closest they’d ever been and the more time he spent in her presence, getting closer and closer to her, his feelings towards the girl became more clear. It was admitting them out loud that caused the nerves to rise. His mind was brought back into the reality of the situation the moment she broke the kiss. “Would it be desperate of me if I said please do?”

“ only slightly. ” red laughs, hands working to remove his shirt. there’s an excitement that comes with everything that’s happening, but there’s also some slight nervousness to it all. she likes jeff & she’s excited to get closer to him, but there’s always the worry of scaring him away. shirt off & tossed to the side, red’s hands move to work on his pants, her lips gently pressing back against his.

Jeff didn’t expect the awkward encounter they had earlier, let alone the conversation they were having or what was coming next. But he’d be lying if he said he wasn’t happy about getting closer to Red, and in more ways than one. He wrapped an arm around her waist, his free hand resting on her hip as she connected their lips. Not bothering to fight the urge to deepen the kiss as they both clearly were on the same page. Smile forming against her lips.

curious hands slowly wander, one trailing down his back & the other slipping under his shirt & resting against the expanse of his stomach. it’s new territory for them & red has to admit that she likes it. after a moment, she pulls back, smile instantly present on her lips. “ --- still willing to let me undress you ?? ” she’s teasing, of course, but there’s a hint of seriousness.
