there  really  isn’t  much  to  tell  about  natalia.  people  usually  know  how  these  stories  go;  a  relatively  wealthy  family,  parents  who,  in  one  way  or  another,  are  a  little  bit  negligent  or  dismissive,  kids  who  end  up  either  raising  or  wrecking  themselves  and  their  siblings  in  the  process,  unfulfilled  dreams,  and  so  on.  well,  the  salazar  family  story  is  basically  that.  

her  parents  (  marisol  and  esteban  )  were  just  your  typical  couple  who  had  a  little  too  many  privileges  and  they  loved  bragging  about  them.  their  story  starts  in  porto  alegre,  brazil  to  be  exact.  they  were  just  your  average  high  school  sweethearts  who  ended  up  living  the  so  called  “perfect  life”,  that  after  three  kids  ended  up  falling  apart.  natalia  is  the  middle  child  in  the  family;  the  second  attempt  from  marisol  &  esteban  to  save  the  marriage  that  was  hanging  by  a  very  thin  thread.  being  the  middle  child  and  second  daughter  of  the  family,  you’d  think  she  would’ve  had  a  very  light  and  flexible  upbringing.  since  everyone  always  assumes  the  middle  child  is  often  forgotten,  unfortunately  for  natalia,  all  the  pressure  that  her  parents  put  on  her  older  sister  was  somehow  placed  all  into  her  as  well.  all  the  dreams  that  her  parents  never  achieved  (  but  were  dying  to  vicariously  live  through  their  children  )  they  placed  onto  her,  along  with  the  fact  that  they  expected  her  to  single  handedly  fix  their  fucked  up  marriage,  as  if  a  marriage  depends  on  the  children  and  not  the  spouse.  

she  was  pretty  much  at  a  disadvantage  from  the  start,  they  never  really  gave  her  a  chance.  now,  being  under  so  many  expectations  and  pressure  really  fucked  up  with  natalia’s  head.  apart  from  the  fact  that  she  was  very  dependant  and  influenced  on  other  people’s  views  and  perceptions  of  her  so,  she  never  really  had  the  courage  or  back  bone  to  stand  her  ground  and  say  enough  is  enough;  not  like  they  ever  gave  her  a  chance  to  do  so.  it’s  no  surprise  that  there  was  little  to  no  relationship  between  her  parents  or  even  her  brothers,  she  always  felt  like  the  outsider  and  like  the  most  important  person  in  the  family,  it  was  such  an  ambivalent  and  inconsistent  environment,  she  never  really  knew  what  she  was  gonna  be  for  her  family  today  or  the  day  after.  

the  ambivalence  she  was  met  with  at  home,  lead  her  to  making  some  unfortunate  mistakes;  trust  the  wrong  people,  doubt  herself  and  so  on.  and  then,  she  met  a  guy,  an  amazing  guy;  lorenzo  rossi.  the  relationship  she  had  with  him  is  one  of  the  only  things  she  doesn’t  regret.  but,  what  she  does  regret  is  what  she  did  after  and  what  happened  after.  you  know  when  things  are  going  too  well  that  you  are  expecting  and  waiting  like  crazy  for  the  other  shoe  to  drop  ?  well,  that’s  what  happened  to  natalia.  things  were  going  far  too  well  with  lorenzo  that  she  felt  like  it  was  only  a  matter  of  time  before  shit  went  down.  so,  what  did  she  do ?  she  left.  she  just  vanished,  she  was  looking  for  a  way  out  from  everything,  especially  her  family.  and  she  got  it.  she  walked  away,  without  saying  anything  and  without  any  sort  of  warning.

now  those  four  years  that  she  was  away,  being  everywhere  and  anywhere,  something  amazing  happened.  she  didn’t  know  until  a  bit  after  she  left  but  she  started  feeling  nauseous  and  was  going  through  a  lot  of  hormonal  changes,  and  surprise  surprise,  she  was  expecting.  now,  when  she  found  out  there  was  an  initial  panic  because  it  wasn’t  really  in  her  plans  to  become  a  mom,  and  there  was  the  fact  that  she  was  all  alone  (  by  choice  )  so  she  was  gonna  have  to  figure  it  out.  and  yes,  of  course,  she  could’ve  gone  back  but  there  was  the  fear  in  her  mind  that  as  soon  as  she  went  back,  hell  was  gonna  rain  on  her.  she  obviously  knew  that  it  wasn’t  gonna  be  pretty,  i  mean  it  had  been  years  at  this  point,  they  all  probably  hated  her;  especially  lorenzo  and  showing  up  at  his  doorstep  after  a  while  of  being  MIA  with  the  news  of  ‘ hey,  sorry  i  vanished  but  you  are  gonna  be  a  dad ’  really  did  not  sound  like  the  best  plan,  so  she  just  stuck  it  up  on  her  own.  she  ended  up  giving  birth  to  a  little  girl  called  rosie  and  she  immediately  became  her  whole  world.  at  first  it  was  a  bit  bittersweet  since  she  was  all  alone  with  a  newborn,  as  much  as  she  wanted  to  tell  her  siblings  she  couldn’t  risk  disclosing  her  location  or  risk  being  persuated  by  them  to  return,  so  she  stuck  it  through.  she  was  happy  for  a  while,  and  then,  around  rosie’s  4th  birthday  and  because  like  a  dark  hole  her  family  needed  to  suck  away  the  little  amount  of  happiness  she  had  in  her  life;  her  parents  ended  up  splitting  up  and  it  was  ugly,  and  they  called  her  ‘cause  she  needed  to  be  there  for  whatever  bullshit  reason  ‘cause  people  really  took  the  split  as  a  national  tragedy  and  so,  more  so  for  the  feeling  of  duty,  she  came  back.  so  she’s  here  again,  the  only  difference  is  she  has  an  added  plus  with  her,  trying  to  avoid  at  any  cost  the  person  that  she  knows  it’s  only  a  matter  of  time  before  they  bump  into  each  other  again.

natalia  is  a  very  much  ‘  what  you  see  is  what  you  get  ’  kind  of  person.  she  isn’t  that  difficult  to  figure  out  unless  she  doesn’t  want  you  to.  she  is  a  very  light-hearted  person,  who  puts  everyone  else’s  needs  before  her  own  to  an  extreme  point.  she  walks  around  with  her  heart  on  her  sleeve,  very  much  a  lover  not  a  fighter,  loves  having  fun  and  laughing  till  she  cannot  breathe  with  the  people  that  she  loves.  

now,  the  other  side  of  the  coin,  extremely  influenced  by  her  environment  and  other  people’s  views  on  her,  she  cares  a  bit  too  much  about  what  everyone  else  thinks  or  doesn’t  think  of  her.  now  she  is  obviously  not  a  mind  reader  but  that  doesn’t  stop  her  from  overthinking  just  a  bit.  has  a  complete  fear  of  confrontation  like  she  will  never  go  pick  a  fight  with  absolutely  anybody;  like  you  could  literally  push  her  and  she  would  just  get  up  and  walk  away  before  ever  confronting  the  person  who  did  it.  very  much  pushover,  kinda  rachel  green  style.  her  first  reaction  in  the  face  of  a  conflict  is  avoid,  avoid,  avoid.  like  i’m  running  away  from  you  because  you  might  be  fast,  but  her  fear  of  conflict  is  faster.  she  turns  into  the  flash,  you  ain’t  ever  catching  up  to  her.  very  much  a  people  pleaser  even  if  it  means  withering  away  and  dying.  or  until  she  can’t  handle  it  anymore  and  she  runs  away  so  she  doesn’t  have  to  deal  with  the  disappointed  looks  from  the  people  she  cares  about.   

she  is  very  devoted  person;  she  tends  to  give  her  heart  away  to  everyone  she  meets.  keeps  her  feelings  under  like  twenty  locks,  will  never  willingly  share  that  part  of  herself,  unless  it’s  with  someone  she  wholeheartedly  trusts.  a  bit  of  an  adrenaline  junkie.  watches  horror  movies  just  for  the  rush  of  it,  even  tho  she  spends  half  of  the  movie  either  pretending  to  be  busy  or  covering  her  eyes.  buuuuut,  she  can  watch  true  crime  documentaries  like  it's  nothing.  doesn't  faze  them  at  all,  she  thinks  in  her  past  life  she  was  a  criminologist.

she’s  naturally  a  very  kind  person,  she  cares  deeply  about  other  people  although  she  struggles  to  express  it  most  of  the  time  .loves  loves  loves  watching  the  stars.  a  huge  astronomy  nerd,  will  literally  talk  to  anyone  about  astronomy  for  like  hours  if  you  let  her.  she  finds  the  stars  and  the  moon  at  night  so  peaceful,  calm  and  so  beautiful  so  sometimes  she  just  spends  the  whole  night  watching  them.

               “  you’re  like  —  doing  amazing,  nat.  i  mean  it.  ”  he  doesn’t  say  it  enough  —  although  he’s  constantly  in  awe  of  natalia’s  abilities.  she  did  all  of  this  on  her  own  (  minus  friends  and  family  that  assisted  when  asked  ),  but  toby  had  a  co-parent  that  relieved  a  lot  of  the  stressors  that  came  with  a  child.  he  wasn’t  sure  if  brook  would  have  turned  out  as  well  as  she  was  without  the  assistance  of  jasmine;  natalia  raising  an  outstanding  daughter  without  an  ounce  of  complaint  falling  from  her  lips.  “  ive  learned  a  few  things!  i  can  make  pizza  on  naan  bread  and  boil  pasta  —  if  im  paying  attention  to  it.  the  air  fryer  has  been  a  fuckin’  godsend,  though.  if  that  goes,  i  don’t  know  what  ill  do.  ”  head  shakes  from  side  to  side  before  he’s  on  his  feet,  fingers  tapping  on  the  kitchen  island.  “  did  you  want  a  drink?  we’re  both  off  the  clock  now,  ”  words  are  teasing  as  fingers  wrap  around  the  fridge  handle,  waiting  for  an  answer  prior  to  opening  it.

               natalia  provided  a  sense  of  okayness  —  someone  that  understood  the  difficulties  of  raising  a  child  but  also  the  benefits  of  such  a  thing.  toby  never  doubted  his  ability  as  a  father,  growing  up  he  enjoyed  being  around  kids,  and  it  was  an  added  benefit  that  his  co-parent  happened  to  be  his  best  friend  growing  up.  however,  there  were  certain  things  he  tried  to  avoid  telling  jasmine,  such  as  the  amount  of  house  fires  he’s  almost  caused  while  trying  to  cook  a  homestyle  meal  for  their  daughter.  “  fuck,  you’re  so  right.  cooking  is  damn  well  hard,  eh?  like  —  you  add  too  much  of  one  thing  and  it’s  gross,  too  little  of  another  thing  and  the  house  is  on  fire.  ”  exaggeration,  but  it’s  what  he  does  best.

the   whole   single   parent   ordeal   wasn't   a   piece   of   cake.   for   natalia,   the   first   few   years   she   had   barely   any   support   (   this   being   no   one   else's   fault   but   hers,   cause   she   did   go   MIA   on   everyone   ).   although,   she   hardly   recieved   any   from her family after   coming   back   so,   it   was   already   hard   enough   doing   it   on   her   own,   let   alone   having   people   around   you   discrediting   your   attempts.   therefore,   not   only   as   someone   who   understands   the   struggles   'cause   she   is   experiencing   them   as   well,   but,   as   someone   who   doesn't   see   the   point   in   giving   people   a   hard   time   when   they're   doing   the   best   they   can.   ❝   my   mother   would   actually   kill   me   if   i   told   her   the   amount   of   times   i   failed   at   cooking   something   for   rosie.   it's   incredibly   difficult,   and   that's   without   having   children.   now   imagine   having   to   be   looking   after   a   kid   who   is   just   constantly   on the move.   people   do   gotta   give   us   more   credit,   it's   all   i'm   saying.   ❞

❝   well,   i've   never   had   a   problem   expressing   it,   but   because   i   haven't   had   people   telling   me   i   couldn't   express   it.   which,   in   my   opinion,   is   such   bullshit   like   love   whoever   you   wanna   love.   people   always   wanna   be   all   up   in   other   people's   business   like   it   affects   them   in   any   way.   i   saw   in   a   protest   in   spain   all   these   signs   that   said   "   vive   y   deja   vivir.   folla,   no   jodas.   "   and   that's   all   i   have   to   say   about   it.   ❞

aloe :   how does your muse handle grief ?

❝   always   privately.   i   have   a   problem   with   showing   strong   negative   emotions   in   front   of   people.   i   don't   like   the   attention   on   me   at   all,   so   crying   in   front   of   others   is   not   something   that   comes   easy   to   me,   i   usually   shut   down.   it's   happened   in   certain   ocassions   where   i've   lost   people   and   i   end   up   being   the   only   one   who   doesn't   cry.   ❞   she   chuckles.   ❝   and   boy   have   i   gotten   crapped   on by   my   family   members   about   it.   but   yes,   openly   i   don't   handle   it   at   all.   i   guess   i   prefer   to   make   my   peace   with   it   on   my   own.   ❞

amaryllis :   what is something or someone that your muse takes pride in ?how do they express that pride ?

❝   in   the   things   i   enjoy.   dancing   has   always   been   something   i   don't   shy   away   from.   i   just   love   it.   it   got   me   through   a   lot   of   times   in   my   life,   it's   a   very   good   emotion   outlet   when   you   don't   necessarily   feel   comfortable   or   ready   to   talk   about   it.   although   it   feels   a   lot   more   intimate   than   actually   just   talking,   there   is   a   lot   more   vulnerability   but   in   the   context   of   dance,   it's   not   a   struggle   for   me.   it   almost   comes   naturally.   ❞

if you could communicate with your younger self, what would you tell them?

❝   as   cheesy   and   basic   as   this   might   sound,   i'd   probably   just   tell   her   that   life   goes   on;   despite   of   how   it   feels   like   it's   the   end   of   the   world   and   everything   is   falling   apart   and   she   might   feel   like   there   is   no   certain   way   out   of   a   situation,   life   continues   to   carry   on.   and,   luckily   for   her,   things   turned   out   way   better   in   the   future.   granted,   no   matter   how   uplifting   the   words   are   i'm   sure   this   wouldn't   have   actually   served   any   comfort   to   young   me   but,   looking   back   now   those   moments   feel   so   faint   and   small   that   it's   hard   to   imagine   a   moment   where   they   actually   felt   overwhelming   and   led   to   so   much   hopelessness.   ❞

                                       ⌞      ❀ .      watching  the  young  children  drop  their  model  boats  into  the  pond,  percy  can't  help  but  feel  a  small  stab  of  envy  at  the  normalcy  in  their  lives.  yachts  &  attending  the  monaco  grand  prix  had  been  a  feature  of  her  childhood,  but  never  the  simple  joy  of  watching  a  tiny  boat  bob  across  the  water.   ❛   does  rosie  like  model  boats  at  all  ?  i  think  i  have  a  working  one  at  my  flat,  we  can  try  sailing  it  when  the  weather's  nicer.   ❜              /              model  boat  pond,  with  @nctalias.

it   was   a   really   beautiful   day   outside   so   she   decided   to   spend   some   time   at   the   pond   with   percy,   they   were   watching   all   the   children   with   their   model   boats   which   brought   a   smile   to   natalia's   face.   although   this   wasn't   something   she   did   when   she   was   younger,   she   can   imagine   how   much   the   joy   and   pride   the   children   feel   when   dropping   the   boats   into   the   water.   something   she   is   sure   rosie   would   enjoy   as   well.   ❝   she   does.   she   has   been   quite   obsessed   with   water   lately   and   at   school   they're   talking   about   ways   of   transportations   and   so   boats   have   been   the   only   thing   she   has   been   rambling   about.   so, i'm   sure   she   would   love   that.   ❞

"play it again?" roman's eyebrows were furrowed as he briefly looked up from the phone screen in front of them. "i think i'm starting to get it," he wasn't, but he figured it wouldn't hurt to be optimistic. "i just need to pop my hip out," he spoke slowly, as he demonstrated the move.

natalia   quickly   restarted   the   video   before   stepping   back   and   focusing   on   watching   the   dance,   only   doing   some   movements   with   her   arms.   ❝   i   think   that's   where   i'm   struggling   the   most,   i   have   every   other   move   down.   ❞   she   stopped,   turning   to   face   roman,   nodding   at   his   dance   with   a   smile.   ❝   nice ! i'd   say   you're   doing   good,   maybe   pop   it   just   a   tiny   bit   more   and   you're   set.   ❞

               lips  pucker  as  he  looks  at  natalia,  holding  back  his  own  laughter  until  it's  clear  that  nat  isn't  going  to  scorn  him  for  being  irresponsible.  especially  with  brooklyn  in  the  apartment  (  although  she  was  the  one  that  put  the  fire  out,  not  toby  ).  breath  of  relief  at  her  words  before  he's  laughing,  the  sound  filling  the  apartment  and  hand  raising  up  to  cover  his  mouth  in  attempts  to  muffle  it.  “  this  is  why  i  recommend  pizza.  but  she  likes  to  think  i'm  capable  of  cooking.  the  inner  workings  of  temperature  has  never  been  my  strong  suit.  ”

she   chuckles,   unable   to   contain   herself   after   he   breaks.   they   do   say   you   gotta   try   to   find   the   silver   lining   to   every   situation,   and   thankfully   no   one   ended   up   injured   or   worse   so,   there   was   no   reason   to   stay   stuck   on   it.   people   always   say   this   but   it   is   true   that   there   isn't   a   parent   handbook,   life   just   kind   of   throws   you   to   the   wolves   and   you   make   it   as   you   go.   ❝   well,   something   tells   me   she   might   choose   pizza   from   now   on.   but,   in   your   defense,   the   whole   workings   of   temperature   are   more   complicated   than   they   should   be.   i   feel   like   that's   a   whole   separate   course   you   gotta   take   to   get   the   hand   of   it.   ❞

               slip  of  hand  and  a  cup  is  provided  for  natalia,  filled  with  her  usual  coffee  order  that  cami  has  memorized  by  heart.  a  slight  smile  has  tugged  upon  her  features,  looking  up  at  her  best  friend  with  eyes  filled  with  adoration.  this  isn't  a  life  cami  had  pictured  for  herself,  being  a  loving  and  dedicated  mother,  but  natalia  has  managed  to  make  it  look  easy.  “  you  better.  miss  rosie  over  here  has  steaming  hot  tea  about  her  stuffed  animals  that  you  missed.  i  had  no  idea  that  teddy  was  such  a  bully  !  ”

eyes   slightly   lighting   up   at   the   sight   of   the   cup,   taking   it   from   her   friend   and   shooting   her   a   very   thankful   smile   before   raising   it   to   her   lips,   the   warm   liquid   immediately   making   natalia   feel   more   alive.   taking   a   few   seconds   to   think   about   her   life,   natalia   can't   believe   this   is   where   she's   at.   a   couple   of   years   ago   she   would've   never   said   this   as   one   of   the   possibilities,   but   the   truth   is,   she   is   happy   with   how   her   life   turned   out   despite   the   slight   detour   in   her   plans.   ❝   oh   no,   not   again.   what   are   we   gonna   do   about   teddy,   huh   ?   get   me   up   to   date,   what   happened   this   time   ?   ❞

"see, that's something i agree with, winter is all about cuffing season, sure but being suck at home for hours on end or not wanting to get out of bed because you know you'll be freezing your tits off once you do. I'm just tired of all that." paris rolls her eyes at natalia's comment, "you get it! i swear coats are cute for like a week and after that i just never want to wear another one again."

❝   exactly.   it's   fun   for   a   bit   'cause   there   are   a   lot   of   great   things   you   can   do   during   this   weather   but,   after   a   while,   you   are   just   so   over   it   also   it   can   get   very   depressing   'cause   like   who   is   voluntarily   going   to   go   out   into   freezing   weather   rather   than   staying   warm   at   home   ?   but   that   in   and   of   itself   is   depressing   as   hell.   ❞   natalia   sighs.   ❝   i   agree,   it   becomes   too   much   work   after   like   three   days.   ❞
