šøļøš·ļø When we were designing Dark Spiderās suit, we had one rule, keep it different from Spider-Man. Since Dark Spider is another spider-y guy, we wanted to make sure there would be no confusion between the two.
His costume needed to look unique by combining function with style. One of the ways we achieved this is by making his top a bulletproof vest, which is why it doesnāt sit flush against his ribs. The costume design was influenced by Matt Wagnerās Grendel, mainly the mask, and Black Panther: Man Without Fear, which is where the bulletproof vest idea came from. We wanted to evoke bright colors, despite the darker nature of our universe, and looked at Invincibleās classic design and color scheme for inspiration. Lastly, the sickles always seemed like a cool weapon that doesnāt show up often in comics, so we made it his signature.
