The Neat Streets team of St. Joseph's Secondary School, Athlone carry out a clean up of their school before sharing updates about their environmental projects. Very impressive work guys!
Beech Hill College, Co. Monaghan carrying out a Neat Streets clean up of their local Greenway and canal. The students were treated to a film and sweets after their hard work. Well done and thank you to all involved!
Very tough decisions today, helping to judge the excellent Neat Streets poster entries from Scoil Eoin, Crumlin. Congratulations to the winners and a very well done to everyone who entered.
Bandon Grammar School, Co. Cork during their whole day of beach cleanups for Neat Streets. Some of the very scenic beaches cleaned included Simons Cove, Garretstown and Old Head. Some of the students went for a dip after their day of litter picking. Well done to all involved.
Dunmore Community School Neat Streets committee carrying out a clean up of their local river banks. They have adopted a stretch of this river as their responsibility to monitor and clean regularly, in conjunction with their local Tidy Towns association. Great work guys!

Neat Streets visited Thorton's recycling depot with Firhouse CC and saw first hand the process of separating recyclables. We were also given a very interesting presentation by John & David from Thorton's. Thanks guys!

Smiles all round during a productive, fun day at the Neat Streets conference in Dublin, Jan 17th. Big thanks to all who came and made it such a success.
We’d like to wish a Happy New Year and warm welcome back to all schools returning this week. We hope you enjoyed the break and are ready to continue in your Neat Streets efforts.
A reminder that the Neat Streets conferences are taking place in Dublin January 17th and Cork January 25th. Can all Neat Street Schools 2016-17 please RSVP if you have not yet done so.
Also, the #Instabin photo competition will be taking place soon. Now is a good time to start working on your photos/short videos if you haven’t started already. Watch this space for more details coming soon.
Finally, a big thanks to Colaiste Eoin, Crumlin in Dublin for providing the pictures of their lovely Christmas artwork they created using recycled bottle tops.
Firhouse Community College happy at work on their Neat Streets programme. With a wide variety of plans in the making, they’re working on having easy access in every classroom, group area, office, staff room & canteen to recycling and to have posters at these points showing what is allowed to go into the bin. For every student to take part in a litter pick up of the school grounds at least once this year and twice next year. To provide a WEEE recycling point & hold a WEEE recycling drive . To get more and larger waste bins at our local shops to accommodate the large pizza boxes that are being littered on our streets & school grounds. For the Transition Year Neat Streets committee to provide education on why its important to conserve and protect our environment through visiting every class at least once. To inform parents and the local media of what we are trying to achieve to encourage the local community to join in with us. To enter the Tidy Town Competition and hold a National Clean Up week involving every student in the school and hold various competitions (quiz etc.) with prizes. Fantastic effort guys! Keep up the great work!
Bandon Grammar School, Co Cork, hard at work on their neat Streets programme. They hope to raise litter awareness by holding an art competition, having a rota of all tutor groups to collect litter and to have some pupils carry out 30 minutes of their cleaners' work. To increase awareness in the community, they plan to litter pick at a nearby beach. To have sufficient, categorised bins in the school, they plan on buying plastic bins online and the TY woodwork class will build plywood containers to hold 3 bin types. The bins will be painted 3 different colours (Green for recycling, Black for general & Brown for compost). Keep up the great work guys!
Our Neat Streets Officer Gary is busy visiting the schools who have signed up for this years programme for the first time. Thirty schools have signed up and so far there has been a great response, with lots of very creative ideas being formed by the schools for their Action Plans.
If your school has not carried out its baseline survey yet, please do so before beginning any of your great work to improve your school and its local community.
