A poem about falling in love without saying I’m in love
I wanted to read
This poem to you.
Hoping you’d see me
From a new point of view.
I wanted to show
My affection and care,
Did not mention love though -
No need to overshare.
This poem would keep it
Hidden and safe
While it’s growing,
Afraid
To be called
By its name.
A poem that’s not too heavy
A poem that’s not too scary
A poem that won’t make you
Run away
A poem that invites
To stay.
(Please, stay)
A poem where I’m not afraid
To call you loving words
A poem where my love is light
And carefree, and
Without remorse.
I wanted to read you a poem
I would write
I would hide my feelings
In every word, inside
To keep them
Safe.
For them, for you
Without instructing
You
On what to do.
I wanted to read you
The best poem I would
Ever write.
You’d think that I’m so talented
And want to stay by my side.
I wanted to write a poem
That makes me sound so
Sane.
So normal
and so loving
in only
the right
ways.
I wanted to write a poem
That’s lighter
than this love
Or whatever other word
That doesn’t sound as rough.
I wanted to read a poem
To tell you how I feel
With all the matching flavors,
Like in your homemade meal.
I wanted to write a poem
That’s so fucking original
That’s not cliche at all,
A message so subliminal.
I wish
I
were a poem
I could have read for you.
Unfold with every line,
Revealing every hue.
I felt myself unravel
As I felt this love grow
So beautifully. I trusted you?
And tried to let fears go.
Wanted to write a poem
That’s meant for you to read
But you won't understand my metaphors,
Nor ask me how I feel.
I want to read this poem,
I’ve wanted many times.
But it's too late.
It was too early
To say love
when I wrote my rhymes.
I wish I could have written
A happier poem
About us
For you.
Not disappointing
and unfinished.
But this way
It's perhaps more
true.
