I spent yesterday in Lincoln with my best friend's parents, drinking tea on the boat and eating too much cake. Dawn mothered me and made me a roast dinner and endless hugs. Stu nerded out with me and made me laugh until I cried. We went to see the camper and planned a ren faire trip. I came out to them as trans and they barely batted an eye. With Dinah comes all these incredible souls that fill my heart with love. I had the perfect day

It was poetry night tonight and I so nearly didn't go. I had the time of my life. I stayed right up to 11 to have drinks with my friends and talk politics and poetry and life. We talked about love and loss and pain and I'm never drained when I leave them. They don't empty my cup, it's overflowing. My friends put spoons back into my drawer they don't carelessly leave them in the sink, abandoned and used. My friends have helped me finish a jigsaw puzzle left abandoned on a coffee table for twenty years. My friends are creative and passionate and powerful and strong and I am so fucking lucky that these people took me in.
I'm 16% of the way through Restitution and I want to peel my skin off of my body. What the actual fuck is going on with Kade. There is no way in hell he doesn't have a plan to save Stacey. Current working theory is threatens Tobias so he puts himself in front of Stacey and Kade kills him instead. But I actually want to scream this book is the most stressful of the three.
I'm so tired I feel like I have a hangover. I went up to Nottingham tonight to perform at an insanely cool event hosted by a truly fucking awesome human being. She has run it all by herself for seven whole years and I was so honoured to be a part of her night! She's kindly offered me a feature set at next month's event and I'm blown away by how welcoming and kind everyone was. Just when I think I can wash my hands of Poetry, some talented, funny, powerful, strong poet gives me a million reasons why I should keep doing this. Why I should keep writing and performing and creating.
If you have a talent fucking nurture it. Water that shit and watch it blossom. Support your local arts events and grassroots poetry. Even if you never want to write or get up in front of the mic. Just rock up, you will be amazed by what's out there.
First day of my week off and I'm without my beloved car. I'm hoping I can go pick it up in the next hour because all I want to do is go home and curl up and watch tv

So I returned to where poetry began for me as Poet Laureate tonight. Three years ago I was lucky enough to be given the honour to represent my community. Tonight I stood on that stage and came out as trans to people I hadn't seen in a year. It was beautiful. My dear friend Phil, who is close to 80 years old, was someone I made a beeline for. I said hello and he jumped to his feet and pulled me into the tightest hug of my life and said "It's Eden now isn't it!" And I could have sobbed. If a man close to fifty years my elder can be in full and total support of my transition, no one has any fucking excuse to be hateful. It's not generational if he can manage it.
