i feel my heart breaking because of jere. he’s a good kid. he didn’t mind being his father’s afterthought because he didn’t like the pressure it put on conrad if he bested him.
he was always a happy-go-lucky kind of kid, carefree, soft some ways. and all he really truly wanted for himself was belly. but he could never have her whole. and it’s so heartbreaking, from yearning for someone for so long to finally being with them but still not be the one who’s chosen… i hate it. it’s unfair
sure, he’s not perfect, he’s human. but whatever qualities belly didn’t like about him didn’t make him irredeemable.
cheating, though, should be a dealbreaker, but if we look at it technically, he didn’t cheat. that doesn’t discount the fact that what he did hurt belly though. but at least, he apologized. at least he was willing to do what it takes to assure belly that it wouldn’t happen again. that was a start.
conrad, on the other hand, constantly pushed and pulled. if he truly loved belly, he wouldn’t have given her those mixed signals. instead he made her feel dumb. he made her question what she is to him, what they are together. sure, he made belly happy but he hurt her over and over again and never really apologized for it. and i could never look past that
