By the way, I’ve started a joint blog with a friend for Touken Ranbu toys~! Since they’re a separate “building” from the Nendodorm, they’ll be over at @honmarupetite!

It’s been a while! But dorm life is as lively as ever.
I scored an amazing find yesterday while thrift store hunting! $5!
I later found out it's an AG Mini room box. It's a hiqh quality wooden sloped box with detachable screw-peg stand pieces.. the walls have magnetic strips and are originally meant to be electric wiring ready and all these amazing things!! Interchangeable walls, ceiling, etc. and it's own line of furniture and accessories that were magnetic and easy to decorate with.
They only sold for 2000-2003 and were discontinued because of electrical problem.... but wow they were pricey for a room box...!
Best part is, they are 1:12 scale! so yes, FIGMA Scale!
After the summer con rush season, I really need to sit down and just repair it/remodel it! This is going to be AMAZING!! :D excited for new project!
Early morning shot~ He's a diligent little Hero.
Quick size reference!! ψ(`∇´)ψ
Close up of Kyon’s new TV, drawers and bookcase. I don’t think he’ll be happy until he gets a PS3 though…
Trying to destroy humanity and these guys came in the mail. Ow.
I GUESS I’LL MAKE THEM A DOLLHOUSE CASTLE TO CHILL IN
Then they’ll stop attacking me… Hopefully.
Got a retro TV for Nendodorm and the hipsters got first dibs. What are you boys up to...?
Heads up~!
I normally wouldn't have known this playset exists.. but I was at Sprinkles (local bakery chain) the other day and saw they had this playset for sale! It looks to be between 1/10 - 1/12 scale, which may be good for normal sized Figmas. Nendoroids may be a bit too "wide" to fit behind the register, but if they dont mind xxl large cupcakes they would be happy customers~!
The store part is $15 and the cupcake/food accessories are $3! In my opinion thats a very good deal~ it's smaller but taller and more open than the Calico Critters bakery playset (which is ~$25) and is very nicely styled. I think I'll pick up a playset if I end up getting more fitting Figmas for it.
It's super cute! If you need to find a Sprinkles bakery near you, check their website! or you can buy online at Sprinkles.com
(=゚ω゚)ノ おかえりなさい~!
Origami Cylone has settled in!
This was a fun project, I got to make something overly fancy Japanese. Majority of his furnishings are bought from Marukai San Diego or stolen from other nendoroids for the photo. I even made a bin of 1cmx1cm origami sheets for him. I should technically make a sword stand and separate stand for his large shuriken, but y’know the plastic sake cup works well too haha! I Also leveled up some hand painting skills on the black and gold drawers~ ah, it was frustrating but turned out well!
After making Gunpla for weeks straight, this pretty and crafty project was a breath of fresh air hahaha.
Working on a display room/box for Origami Cyclone S.H Figurearts! He is too big to pose in Zetsubou Sensei’s little Japanese dorm room, but Luckily I picked this Japanese doll case a while back for cheap- no idea what I wanted to put in there until I suddenly grabbed both Sky High and Origami for $20 each!
Of all the things I made or modded, I love these little bamboo “shelves” the most~ but man I wish I was good at actual origami, there's an incrediblr origami table I want to make!
Still thinking about a cool retro/art deco box for Sky High…
NEW BOYFRIENDS AND NEXT PROJECTS!! :D
The best fried rice you’ve ever had!
Picked up Chibi Arts “Perfect Ojisan” a while back… STRAIGHT INTO THE KITCHEN HE GOES!
He’s just visiting unless I make him his own apartment.. But he’s already made a friend!
Summer Guests - Minion Invasion
How many of you guys got these adorable minions during the summer?? They’re usually pretty chill around the dorm, but you see it’s already being invaded by certain territorial frogs, so…
Haiii do u have any pictures of yourself? U sound cool but I soo wanna see da real thing!!
Hello! Yes, I do. I'm actually a cosplayer so I have a public page :3 it's on my MyFigureCollection profile, but also my cos FB.
How do you make your Nendoroid beds and accessories?
Hi Anon!
I actually designed the room based on the characters, so I don't have all the uniform furniature, but mixed pieces and hand made things. For beds it's a really odd mix.
Professor Layton has no bed yet. I'm looking for the perfect one long enough for him, and especially one under $15..
Itoshiki's Bed is a futon, made from fabric and a bit of quilting fluff. Basic stuff.
Ciel's furniture, including his bed is from this set of Calico Critters (Sylvanian Families outside of USA). I spray painted it brown to match the chair that Ciel nendoroid came with.
Keroro and Tamama use the beds from this set of the same toy line as above. I only spray painted one of the bunk beds black for Keroro. These bunk beds are too small for standard sized nendos, but may be the right size for petite nendos.
For Kyon, Akito, Moritaka, and Prince, I wanted more 'boyish' and 'modern' looking beds but couldn't find any online in doll house stores etc. I actually made them out of Black and Silver plastic soap containers:
You can find them anywhere, such as the travel section of your local pharamacy/drug store. Two containers made 4 beds. I put a little bit of felt and fabric in the beds for mattresses and made little pillows as well.
As for accessories Everything is a mix between store bought doll house or toy furniture From the Calico Critters or Playmobil line-- those are both good scale for Nendos and are easily re-painted or customized!
Wall art such as the posters in the Manga Room and Kyon's room are cut out of old anime magazines, tags or boxes from other figures, etc. I just glued them onto some black craft foam to give them another dimension.
I hope that helps? A lot of doll house furniture is geared toward victorian and other fancy decorative styles and way out of my budget (considering what I paid for the nendos ^^;) so I'm making most of my items from scratch.
You can still do searches on ebay for "doll house furniture set" to get some good deals on batches of plastic pieces, easily repainted or modified to your liking.
If you have any more specific questions just ask! :D
Daily Dose of Despair
ZETSUBOUSHITA, Despair I am in it. I chose a more peaceful pose for profile because he can be a really funny guy to hang with when he's not trying to kill himself. Honestly can you even imagine living with this guy though? Constantly adding his 2c about everything? At least he's moe and has his own room to bumble around in. I actually think Sensei and Professor are a good balance, as far as Dormitory Adults go.
I can't express my love for this Nendoroid. I got into Zetsubou Sensei really late and was SO LUCKY to get this guy second hand. He's just really expressive and fun to put in the worst of situations. fuufuufuu...
It was also extremely fun as a dorm concept, because I wanted at least one traditiomodern hybrid Japanese or Chinese room to decorate, and Sensei gave me the perfect excuse. His bookshelves are real bamboo, guys.. (It's actually a multi-compartment sauce dish LOL didn't even have to paint it!)
More about this figure at the MFC page!
