Before Hogwarts-Anaâs Story (Part 1)
Pour lâamour de Dieu...â
Such familiar songs like this small piece was being played by the 10 year old French Canadian girl Anatasia, or Ana for short, from the source of her soft yet angelic-like voice. Accompanied by her little brother Justin and toddler sister Sarah, they preformed together as any other siblings would before their lucky parents; Peter & KaitlynâPeter being from England and Kaitlyn coming from France before they started a new life together in QuĂ©bec after they wed years prior. This would be a family that quite literally described Canadian multiculturalism in its essence; a mosaic of all wondrous colours for each culture, language, background, and types of romance that made Canada what it is today,
Je crois quâelle y est,
As Sarah gently tapped on the xylophone and Justin fiddled quietly on his violin, Anaâs voice seemed to have triggered a sense of star-lit like twinkling from the ceiling. Seeming like magic, the lights dimmed; startling Kaitlyn and Peter slightly, but when the beautiful, calming illusion of the night sky gleamed from above their heads, the parents gazed in awe. False snowflakes danced among them as the song continued its course through Anaâs melodious voice, a moon-like light transforming the living room into an extraordinary sight beyond words that couldnât begin to describe it. The room stayed warm throughout these magical elements before the family, but when the song ended, so did the illusions.
âWhere did all of that come from?â Peter asked when he turned to Kaitlyn for answers, âI get that you were a witch once but did our eldest daughter inherit it?â He waited for Kaitlyn to give her thoughts when Ana stepped forward in order to confess to something neither her folks knew of earlier.
âMama, Papa, lately I have been affecting things around me. Especially when my moods change,â Ana admitted, âWhen I am happy, I cast calming waves of energy & light from the palms of my hands...when I am sad, only darkness and illusions of rain followed my every direction. Iâm being teased in school because of this. Am I...normal?â
That was the one word that Kaitlyn hated with a passion. She took Ana by the hand and stared deep into her daughterâs distraught hazel eyes.
âListen to me, mon colombe...I have told you countless stories of my time in a school thatâs meant for people like us. You have seen me preform very small, harmless charms that only the innocence and wild imagination in your eyes can see. True I am no longer considered a witch; but you...as long as you have the will to learn, you can be greater than I once was. You can heal the pure at heart and rid the wicked that try to ruin them. All you have to do, Ana, is believe in yourself. The magic runs strong in our family...my father has it. I had it. You have that power too.â
âWith great power however comes immense responsibilities behind it,â Peter added, pulling Ana and Sarah into his arms playfully while Kaitlyn held Justin, âWhether or not you choose to go down the path your mother did, you must commit to it 110 percent. No excuses, no shortcuts, no running away. You and I are Thackerays, Ana. Thackerays can do anything if we set our mind to it...and if Justin or Sarah show signs of becoming potential magic users too then that is just as grand!â
âI understand, Papa,â Ana smiled with glee, hugging Peter and little Sarah before reaching over to Kaitlyn & Justin for their hugs as well, âNow thenâPuis-je aller Ă la bibliothĂšque?â
