"Then I don't suppose you'll care that one of our sisters was harmed because of the people you've chosen to align yourself with,"
It did surprise her a bit at the party to see them all, those faces of her past. Perhaps if she'd been honest with herself, she might have even admitted that it hurt to think they might get caught in the fray. But that was no longer her concern. "You certainly seem to care to associate my involvement in the matter when I have yet to lift a finger against any of you. And now you approach me with the sort of boldness that most people would credit as foolish and reckless." Ximena leaned forward then, her voice dropping to a lower volume than was perhaps necessary given them being alone. "A word of advice, Nesryn. I may not see fit to harm you for this sort of thing, but poking about for answers or revenge like that will get the lot of you killed. So tread carefully."
"I'm not talking to the rest of you despicable seethe Ximena. The only answers I want are from you. How can you stand with them, with what they're doing? Because you might not have lifted a finger yet as you say but you chose them and all that they stand for. That makes you a part of everything they do." Her voice didn't raise but her anger and disgust were clear in her tone. "And I wouldn't be so quick to make threats if I were you. The nephilim, the shifters, the fae warriors, the warlocks and high warlocks, and every other seethe in this city isn't going to care that you haven't lifted a finger. Because you didn't do anything to stop it either. They'll see you as one of them and they will hold you accountable. Two children almost died Ximena. Children. If you don't care about your sister, surely you still have enough of a heart left to care about that."
