Netroots Nation is the country's largest annual gathering of the progressive community. Each year bloggers, newsmakers, social justice advocates, labor and organizational leaders, grassroots organizers and other fierce activists come together for 80 thought-provoking panels, 40 practical trainings and fun networking opportunities.

Amanda Blackhorse of #notyourmascot is a personal hero of mine. She was at #nn15 when we formed the Red Nation council, an advisory committee explicitly meant to ensure further and more broad #indigenous participation at Netroots Nation / #Nn16 in #STL (and hopefully beyond.)

In 2006 a migrant man's remains turned up in the Arizona desert and in his pocket was a saad hummingbird, a symbol in many indigenous cultures in Central and South America as a nation less, diverse, and beautiful messenger between the living and the dead. It's his story that frames the work of the Colibri Center for Human Rights. In the @justseeds mural @mataruda, @jessxchen, #theagahr and the local Navajo artist seen here who I am waiting to find out who he is, Colibri (Spanish for hummingbird) are featured alongside a mother holding the photo of her missing loved one. This is a community gift to those who have lost loved ones and to honor the lives lost made possible by the local #phoenix #streetart community, @justseeds artists, the producers of #NN15 and the @sundance award winners who made "Who is Dayani Cristal?" 💙

I didn't get a proper picture with her but the woman in this video, #theagahr, I owe so much of my love for this week to. When things got hard, she was there. When it was 7:30am and things were easy by the pool, she was there. I'm blessed and thankful for her and really all of the @justseeds crew. Beautiful, beautiful souls. 🌵💙🌵 #NN15
