Fernando Pessoa, The Book of Disquiet
they should invent blankets that make you feel warm (good) but don't make you feel warm (bad)
People don't praise you for trying your best, they only criticise you for your best not being 'good enough'
I still make the same stupid mistakes
i think if people are to become actually accepting of disability they need to radically rework what they consider to be tenants of a fulfilling life. independence and self sufficiency can be nice but they're not required for a fulfilling life. neither is having a partner and children, having a job, or getting out of bed every single day. sure they can be enriching but so can other things. we need to stop considering the lives that disabled people live to be inherently subpar. inability and struggle is also a part of life, it doesn't devalue it. and acknowledging the difficulties of disabled people doesn't make their lives inherently unfulfilled either. we're here living life too.
I've been so ashamed of the fact that I'm me
It's not fair that someone else's actions can keep you trapped in hell forever
I wish I could bring back the versions of me that I lost
The version of me that looked forward to the day rather than dreading it
The version of me that saw a future for myself
The version of me that people said had potential
The version of me that was able to read and write for hours
The version of me that could actually concentrate and remember things
The version of me that existed before shame and illness and hopelessness took over
I really like to pretend to myself that things used to be better years ago
I like to create this alternate version of the past where letting myself spiral into chaos and self-destruction everyday was fun rather than genuinely terrifying
Addiction really likes to re-write history, convince you that things were better when you allowed it to rule your life
Sometimes it is hard to remember the reality that lived underneath the surface
How my body started to give-up on me and I scared people, lost their trust which I still have not fully re-gained now
”match my freak” match my melancholy. be nostalgic about a past you weren’t even that happy in. find something to be haunted about throughout every second of your day
Splitting is so frustrating
I’m so tired of being here. I want to go home. But where is my home.
I feel like I’ve been homesick my whole life for a place that I’ve never found
