This was taken at my cousin's house in North Carolina. It's definitely one of my favorite places ever.
here's a thing I did
it's for an assignment called Three Image Narrative for which we had to pick and iconic story and illustrate it using a collage of only three images
i used a feather, wax, and the sun to illustrate the story of Icarus
A project I did using only four black squares in each piece. They all represent one of these words: order, bold, tension, increase, congested, and playful.
"Concentration/Isolation"
For this assignment we had a small stencil that we had to create two pieces with. We went by the dictionary definitions of the words as the basis for them. The first piece is Concentration and the second piece is Isolation. They are both 8x8 inches.
"Repetition Grid"
For this assignment we had to create one unit square which we repeated on a 10x10in. groundsheet. We could turn the unit square any way we wanted and could color in any shapes we wanted, as long as there were no lines left over.
These are the final edits before and after the in class critique. The first group is the originals, and the second group is the final finals. At the last minute I switched the diagonal piece back to the original because I realized that I actually didn't like the new one. But I did like the new curved piece a lot more. My favorite piece is the horizontal/vertical, with the last one with all the lines coming in second place. Overall I'm really happy with how they turned out, especially since I put A LOT of time and effort into them.
For my 2D design class that I'm in, we had to do 100 sketches about "dividing a groundsheet". The first 25 use only horizontal/vertical lines. The next 25 use only diagonal lines. Next is only curved lines. And then at least one each of a horizontal, vertical, diagonal, and curved. I had tons of fun doing this project, even though I'm only happy with a few of them. I have to pick one from each group to make into a final piece using black construction paper on a white sheet of paper. If you want you could tell me your favorite/s from each group to help me choose!(?)
