Timeline

What is a Big Bang?

A mass-collaborative event, where writers and artists team up to have fun and create. We are doing the "traditional" version, where writers sign up first and write something, and artists sign up later to create a piece that matches.

What is a pinch-hitter?

Sometimes a writer or artist cannot complete their work, or the numbers don't match up, and someone needs to step in. Be aware that you might be creating things on VERY short notice. If we don’t have enough pinch hitters, and the numbers don’t match up, then partners may be assigned on a first come, first serve basis. So, it’s such an important job!

Who can participate?

Anyone! Regardless of skill or age, everyone is welcome. The only condition is that you must have a tumblr account.

Can I be a writer and an artist?

Yes, but be aware you will be doing a lot of work. You cannot be matched with yourself.

What if I can’t finish in time?

Let me know! The deadlines are more progress markers than anything definite, take your time. I just need to know for logistic reasons.

Where do I sign up?

Writer sign-ups will be up by the end of the day, the link will appear here. Writers will include a summary for their story. This sign up will be open for two weeks. Artist sign ups open after that, and each artist will select their preference to be matched with. This doesn’t guarantee what story you’ll be matched with!! Pinch-hitters can sign up at any point, there will be an option on each form.

Writer requirements

Aim for at least 1k to give the artist something to work with.

Respond to every check-in. It’s okay to fall behind, but I need to know that you’re still participating.

Notify the blog if you can’t get it finished on time. It’s fine, but I just need to know!

Hey you guys! So, I am finally unblocked by tumblr, and I’d just like to apologise for what happened with all of that shit. Your messages just came through and I’m so sorry that I never received those, that definitely would’ve been difficult to deal with for ye.

How do I submit my artwork?

If you want to send me your update, then you’re able to put it into an ask, there should be an option when you send it

If you’re talking about where to put your finished art on the posting date (Jan 28th), then you post it on your own account, tag me and I’ll share it here. There’ll also be an option to put into a collection on ao3, if you’d like to do that

heyy it’s me again. just wanted to check on some things my partner and i were wondering about:

Is there a specific time of day we should be posting our fics/arts at? I’m aware there’s participants in all sorts of timezones but I can queue a post for whatever time if that’s something you’d prefer? Or does just any time work as long as it’s on or around the 22nd (my main concern is how some people will be hitting the 22nd earlier than others lol so idk if that’s something you want us to account for?)

Is there a particular tag we should use when posting our fics/arts to associate them with the event and what is that tag if yes?

Hey there! Before I answer, just want to clarify that the posting date is the 28th, not the 22nd

1. You can post at anytime during that day in your time zone. The idea is just that we have an explosion of content, but it can be spread out :). You and your partner may want to coordinate between you though

i'm so sorry, i think tumblr hasn't for some reason been giving me the notifications of you posting, which is why i haven't seen any of them. i know this is extremely late, and i really hope it's okay if i just update you now and like this, but i do have the fic finished. me and my artist haven't really been in contact (i'm not sure why, but it might've been my fault, since i'm terrible at initiating conversations of any kind), so i was wondering if it's okay for us to only start making plans at this stage? if not, i totally get that. again, i'm so sorry.

heyheyyy so i actually have a few questions for b4 the posting date

I’m planning to post my fic in seperate chapters, just because I think it’ll be too long if I lump it all into one. Would you prefer if I post all of these chapters on the actual due date for the sake of the event, or should I spread them out a bit? I’ll have them all written ahead of time, it’s just a matter of what you’d prefer as the host of the event.

When you say that the event is mainly on tumblr, do you mean you’d like us to post our entire fics here (like all the text directly onto tumblr itself)? Or does posting onto ao3 and making a tumblr post containing a link to it count?

Hi there! So as I was sending out the partners yesterday, I ran into a major technical glitch which means I can no longer message people. If I sent you your partner, then that will be the author you were paired up with to draw for.

Sorry for the issues guys, I’m going to try and fix it this evening (fingers crossed)

If you did get your partner, then it was for you as an artist, and your partner is an author. If you want to get into contact with them, please do!!!
