They’re a particularly interesting dynamic under the lens of Montresor reminding Annabel of Lenore. And Annabel being reminiscent of Montresor’s mother.
Ultimately using sexual activities as a coping mechanism. Annabel feeling like she has control over Lenore through dominating Montresor. And Montresor’s catharsis would root in his past trauma. I don’t think Annabel reminding Montresor of anything is necessary though. She literally has blackmail on him lolololol. And with nevermore in mind, it could be a way for her to blackmail Montresor further and to keep him in check. Or is just using that as an excuse. That it’s all just apart of the game she’s playing so she can release her Lenore related frustrations on him. Or for a power trip.
The gist of it in my mind was Annabel punishing, humiliating, force fem, degrading and using him. Basically bending him to her will. Also like vaguely alluding to it in public spaces to get him to behave and to also remind him of her authority over him.
Maybe she’d somehow rope Prospero into it. Monstpero punishment stuff. Or even Will/Ada. Utilising one of them to humiliate him by topping him. Or getting Ada to cuck him with her #adabel
