Thresher V2.0 always shares the music of other independent and DIY bands that are tiny like me, and today I was given a chance too, so I think it's important that I give some extra care to how I speak of his music.
I've listened to three singles and an EP of the project, and I'm particularly going to recommend the "Rosy Winter EP" below, if you don't listen to anything else by him:
Unfortunately, on Bandcamp it seems to be missing "Nostalgia Song", but it's up on other streaming platforms. The way that I'd describe the sound I heard on this EP and Prom Night Leftovers is certainly somewhere between punk, post-hardcore, and emo. It reminds me a lot of skramz like Jeromes Dream, but the instrumentals are more melodic.
It's not always typically melodic, however. "Drowned In The River" has some chromatic moments, and "Funeral For Your Valentine" disregards typical harmony every now and then, which gives more of that punk feeling. Much like some skramz, the vocals are harsh and abrasive when screaming, but there are cleans and they're very emotive and characteristic.
It's clear that Thresher focuses on being crudely emotive, raw, without trying to always be conventional, and I think those are interesting elements for a project to have. Conventionally melodic music is fine, but stuff like this reminds us that any genre of music can be much more than the usual tropes, and it reminds me of how many sounds go underexplored in most genres.
More recent releases like "A Poem to Where I Lost my Former Self" and "Vulnerability (You)" are closer to the EP's song "Toothburn", which was mixed by himself. Those are mostly acoustic songs with whispered or crooning vocals, but they may go harsher with screams and hard strumming. Don't expect what people often call folk punk, because this is some pretty heavy stuff. For "Toothburn", the first word that came to my mind was "grunge".
You might notice in the softer parts, when his vocals play around with resonance some more, that his voice can sound full and potent. It wouldn't surprise me if he sounded as great doing some heavy metal or metallic hardcore ā I've heard some parts in the heavier songs that remind me of metalcore, especially with the way he shouts.
If you like Jeromes Dream and My Chemical Romance's first album, I definitely recommend his first EP. I hope he keeps improving, working with other producers in DIY, and releasing more of his work. He seems to be pretty active the past years (definitely more active than me, which inspires me to put the extra work).

When I was waiting for the album to go live, I worked on a little teaser for it and was never able to finish it. I did a quick run to finish it now that I had the time and I'll just post it anyway.
Nearly all of the footage is by Grisha Grishkoff.
An unreleased song of mine will be in a compilation for a suicide prevention charity, Hope For Spring, releasing tomorrow. It has tons of other indie artists in it as well; I've only seen some, but they were all good. Outcast Tapes is the label that organized it, and they will be streaming the whole release tomorrow at about 2:30 PM CST. You can check the stream at twitch.tv/outcasttapes when it's up.
They will also be doing the Desert Bus Challenge on American Truck Simulator, so if you're like me and love driving virtual trucks and jackknifing at every corner, it might also be a calming experience.

Keith from Count Your Lucky Stars says he knew the guy who owns it, Rory Felton, as he worked with him in an indie label in the past. Rory is a total phony, not unlike every NFT guru out there.
Many small artists have been affected, but thankfully it seems the website went down today. Still, I suggest you keep an eye out if you're an artist and have stuff released on Bandcamp, Soundcloud, or through a distributor. The guy is @RoryFelton on Twitter, and @joinhitpiece is the company's Twitter account.
If you see any similar scam in the future, remember this and nudge the targeted artists. Don't let scammers cash out on a band's hard work.

The new album is finally finished. š Everything is set up with the music association, and all the stuff is in the distributor's queue. Now to get it all ready for release.
I finished all of the recordings today. Everything is ready for the mixing and mastering processes. The album should have 12 songs if all goes well, and the distributor is on the ready to get the audio files. All good.
Prayers to the families who lost loved ones at AstroFest. Crowd safety is no joke. Hope that the people involved in the festival are held accountable for their negligent planning which resulted in people losing their lives. Kids need to understand that mindlessly āragingā while having no concern for the health and safety of others, does not make them cool.
I wasn't able to record Saturday, but got some time this Sunday afternoon and did a couple takes for the first track. I'm thrilled, can't wait to record more.
I went for a dynamic instead of a condenser. I got the sE Electronics V7 X, an extended range dynamic microphone. It's built for instruments, but much like the SM57, it still does well for vocals (although you'd need a windscreen for the SM57; the V7 X comes with a thin internal windscreen already). I'll have to record in an untreated room, so a dynamic will be more forgiving too.
I'll start recording vocals as soon as possible, hopefully tomorrow if I have little to no work.
