Our country it’s burning up because of at least 100 forest fires actives right now in different regions.

A complete town has disappeared. More than 1500 houses were completely lost. Ten people have died. More than 800 sq miles have been burned and it just keeps getting worse.

Dear followers!! I’m sorry to ask you for this on this blog, but my country, Chile, is being affected by multiple forest fires which are keeping us in state of emergency.

WE NEED YOUR HELP

For weeks, there have been multiple forest fires along the middle/south regions of our country. They are too many and our firemen forces (made and sustained by volunteers and charity), policemen, and civilian volunteers are not enough to contain them.

This is the worst fire in our entire history. Three regions are in State of Catastrophe/Exception, but truth is it’s spreading even further. As I type this, there are officially 130 active fires spread across 7 regions (source).  Almost 400000 hectares (of forests, crops, animal farms and homes) have been destroyed and so far 11 people have died. After a long dry spring and summer the central provinces are ablaze in many places, with several killed, thousands evacuated and several hundred homes destroyed including the entire town of Santa Olga (some thousand buildings), with many of the events both ongoing and out of control. The government has asked for assistance, since its own firefighters have been overwhelmed by the magnitude of the task facing them, and people and planes have been sent by several countries, including the world’s largest firefighting plane: a converted extended jumbo jet.
