Goodnight Song
I never think anymore. Never really. Remember when in high school I was so self aware. I can't make those my glory days. I can be just as self aware now.
When I'm here I feel like this is where my purgatory is. I feel like when I die I'll be here at the dark museum alone looking into dioramas of my life. The museum in the dark is where I feel the most comfortable, and the most safe. I don't know why. It's such a beautiful feeling. When I was a kid, my favorite book was about two children who run away to the Met. I wouldn't run away to the Met, but the Natural history museum. The quiet galleries of still scenes. The way it seems so out datedly imperial. It seems like they were acquired just to acquire and are now stuck. It seems like an age past. Last time I thought they were taking out the Arctic part of the Carnegie Museum and I was so upset. In a way it all stems to me growing up in the old museum at museum school. And when they built the new one, the comfortable feeling was gone and it could never come back. That's why the museum feels like home, especially when home doesn't. It fills my heart with this quiet, dark warmth. But it also feels like purgatory. Like a time and a place removed from everything else. I feel like it stops and never starts. I love that room. I love it.

Norman Rockwell illustrated this cover of the Saturday Evening Post for the May 1, 1920 edition, featuring a couple getting cozy with a Ouijia Board. At a time when men and women needed to conduct themselves with decorum together, the Ouija Board gave them a chance to be quite close in a darkened space! One of my favorite podcasts 99% Invisible just did an episode on the Ouija Board. You can listen here (Via The Saturday Evening Post)

i think I need to remember what my relationship with brayden really is. its about loving who he is as a person and appreciating that not about my time spent here. and giving him the happiest time possible.
