idk how to explain to people that it’s not internalized misogyny to expect women to do some of the work of unlearning patriarchal values. you can’t just wait for the patriarchy to topple before you begin questioning and pushing against those misogynistic ideas that have been fed to you since you were born because nothing changes if you DON’T question them. it’s extremely naive and unproductive to get mad at people for “calling out women instead of the patriarchy that made them think that :(“ when women have to actually begin critically engaging with what they’ve learned from the patriarchy to unlearn it. you aren’t a helpless victim who must contour and get lip injections and tell teenage girls to look hot for them until suddenly we have full equality and the patriarchy magically gets rid of itself. it just seems like some women don’t want to do the hard and messy work of having to critically engage with themselves and the self the patriarchy expects of them and it’s easier to just blame society and not get uncomfortable.

"i use queer because it fits me better than any other label!!" you use queer because unfortunately for you, "gay", "lesbian" and "bisexual" are specific terms with concrete meanings that do not apply to your reality but you still want to feel like you're special and unique and not just another "boring" straight so you call yourself queer because you know it's a bullshit word with no real meaning which means nobody can really prove or disprove that it applies to you so now everyone has to tolerate your presence in spaces that were originally meant for same-sex attracted people. hope this helps

Queer has been used as a slur against same-sex attracted people. Thus, same-sex attracted (ssa) people aee the ones who can reclaim it for themselves and use it in a non-slur way. An ssa person would be either gay/lesbian or bisexual. If not sure, they can use the vaguer terms wlw/sapphic or mlm. Of course, they can also call themselves queer, as I do (I am bisexual). Op is reffering to non-ssa (straight or aroace) people calling themselves queer. They should not do this as they are not the targets of this word when it is used as a slur.

The word queer is not for all lgbt+ people. Grow up.

i really wanna understand the kind of mental gymnastics liberals have to do to come to the conclusion that a 20 year old woman dating a 50 year old man is problematic because even though she has the freedom to choose who she wants to date the power dynamics between them make it so the relationship is inherently problematic and therefore it's not really her "choice" but a man taking advantage of her without her realizing it because we live in a society that grooms women from a young age and normalizes things like these but a 50 year old man paying a woman who's facing poverty to have sex with him is 100% okay and not problematic at all. power dynamics and the society we grew up in and also all the factors that led a woman to prostitution considering she needs that money to survive are irrelevant because it is Her Choice. #GirlPower
