NAME: Ami Zhou. BIRTHDAY: July 24th, 1954. PRONOUNS: She/Her. GENDER/SEX: Cis/female. OCCUPATION: High School History Teacher. FACE CLAIM: Gemma Chan.

– Seen Not Heard. Ami was raised by her grandmother because her parents passed away when she was younger. Her grandmother, now deceased, was very harsh on her, raising her to be seen not heard, like she felt all children should be. This made her a very disciplined child, but also made her take off the moment she was old enough to truly be on her own. Ami does not dislike her grandmother because the woman taught her the culture and history of China, which taught her an appreciation of her own heritage.

– Travel the World. After graduating, Ami headed off to England, where she spent several years. She enjoyed visiting different sites and seeing the world. It was in London where she first fell in love with the love of other cultures. Her Chinese heritage was important to her, but seeing the way the rest of the world lived also interested in her. After travelling to England, she spent several years travelling Europe before going to South America and finally heading to America.

– Traditions & Stories. She does a lot to keep her family’s stories alive. Before her grandmother died, Ami wrote all her grandmother’s stories down in a leather journal that she keeps with her at all times. Whenever she misses home or her family, Ami sits down with the book and reads it. Much of the book talks about her family’s own traditions. At least once a month, Ami makes dumplings like her grandmother taught her when she was younger. She also has several family heirlooms that were passed down to her when her grandmother passed a few years after she moved to America.

– A Loveless Marriage. Ami married someone when she moved to America. The man was never someone that she truly loved because she doesn’t know if she’ll ever find someone that she loves. Her husband was a kind and gentle man who also didn’t love her, preferring men. Their marriage was mainly to keep his parents off his back and Ami’s grandmother off her back about getting married. Four years ago, he met someone and ran off, leaving Ami. While the two are still friends, Ami wished he’d stuck around because of the rumors that people in her small town talked about.

– Secret Project. For the past two and a half years, Ami has been working on a book. She doesn’t have a lot of time to work on it, so it’s been slow progress thus far. She doesn’t know when she’s going to publish it – or if she will. Ami hasn’t told anyone about the book because she doesn’t want other people to pressure her to publish it or sway her into not publishing it. The book is a historical fiction novel, taking much of her own family history into account.

NAME: Harleen Dubois. BIRTHDAY: October 31st, 1969. PRONOUNS: She/her. GENDER/SEX: Female/cis. OCCUPATION: Student and a Pharmaceutical Assistant. FACE CLAIM: Haley Lu Richardson.

AESTHETIC –  a doll in a gilded birdcage, soft piano music, coffee shops late at night, wisps of hair sticking to glossed lips, a bed strewn with papers and books, sunlight slipping through clouds, rotting flowers on a grave, the distant sound of fireworks, roses with thorns on the stems, love letters spritzed with perfume, a child’s fear of the dark, the contrast of blood against snow and fireflies on a cool summer night.

LIKES: vanilla milkshakes, persian kittens, french bulldogs, pink nail polish, strawberry lip gloss, cherry cola, lip smackers, daisy fields, sweet pears, the rich smell of old books, riding with the hood down, the lavender in sunsets, thoughtful letters, hair ribbons, going to church, travels without a destination, vanilla scented bubble baths and spending sunday afternoons with her grandmother.

DISLIKES: thunderstorms, disappointing people  -  especially her parents, people who break promises, large dogs, raised voices, foggy mornings, grocery stores at midnight, the woods, confrontation, wet grass, chocolate cake, ouija boards and the silence of 3 a.m.

HEAD CANONS

– Harleen is the youngest daughter out of three children, but is the second youngest child; she was born a measly two minutes before her brother  -  something she never fails to remind him of.

– Harley and Harry, being the youngest, were the only two children left for Eloise and Pierre to raise  -  their brother had gone off to University and sensing a better future for the little ones, her parents moved them to New Orleans when they were toddlers. It wasn’t until her father was offered a job in Sheffield that they moved again. By then, the kids were about seven years old.

– A devout Catholic. Harleen’s family wasn’t overly religious; sure, they practiced their faith on a day to day basis, but it had never been something their parents had pressured them into  -  that is until her father found himself in murky waters and turned to God for assistance. Rather, he turned to his faith in order to get himself out of trouble and appear as though he was nothing more than an All American Man, dedicated to his family and the lord. Eloise and her children remained blissfully unaware of the fact that her father was struggling and smuggling.

– Upon digging himself out of trouble, Pierre became much more strict with his children  -  especially Harleen. She was, after all, his only daughter; and the last thing he wanted was for her to be exposed to the dangers that seemed to lurk at every corner. Due to how protective he was, Harley was shielded from many truths of the real world; she was shielded from pretty much anything that didn’t have to do with school, family, or church.

NAME: Cordelia Harte. BIRTHDAY: March 22nd, 1939. PRONOUNS: She/her GENDER/SEX: Female/cis. OCCUPATION: Teacher at Chabert Preschool. FACE CLAIM: Gillian Anderson.

AESTHETIC –  the sound of a typewriter, lying for over a decade, rising tides, blankly polite speech, the sounds of a ticking clock, lying in the sand, the distant smell of the ocean, kissing underwater, rising tides, insurmountable losses, nasty rumors, inexorable scars, the click of shoes, a mother and a child, an air of quiet death.

LIKES: early mornings, the feeling of waves lapping at your feet, lacy lingerie, freshly brewed coffee, cinnamon toast, green tea with honey, menthol cigarettes, cozy sweaters, morning jogs, the theater, red wine, the theater, fine dining.

DISLIKES: toxic masculinity, boorish sex, the theater, being pressured for time, dive bars, cigar smoke, family dysfunction, sleeping alone.

HEAD CANONS

–  Being the only daughter out of four sons, it’s safe to say Cordelia was doted on throughout her life  -  by her father, at least. She was a Daddy’s Girl through and through, much to the dismay of her brothers; they weren’t too keen on the fact that she was spoiled, whereas they had to bust their asses off if they wanted something. However, when her mother passed on from a heart condition nobody knew about, the relationship she had with her father became strained.

–  The Harte’s were a competitive, athletic family  -  Cordelia partook in many sports, but her main passions lied within figure skating and swimming. The latter was merely a hobby of hers, whereas Olympic training began at the tender age of five.

–  The loss of her mother deeply affected Cordelia, especially when her father began to resent her; she was the spitting image of the woman he loved so dearly. He could hardly spare the kid a glance during the first year of Moira’s death.

–  At the 1956 Winter Olympics, she became the first, and one of the youngest, American female skaters to win an Olympic gold medal. She was the recipient of a bronze medal in 1952.

–  Her career would come to an end in her early twenties, after falling due to a rut in the ice and cut her right ankle joint to the bone with her left skate.

– Following in her fathers footsteps, she graduated from Harvard Medical School in 1967, but later pursued a career in early childhood development.

NAME: Jaerd Alaniz BIRTHDAY: May 22, 1966. PRONOUNS: He/him. GENDER/SEX: Cis/male. OCCUPATION: Librarian. FACE CLAIM: Alberto Rosende.

AESTHETIC – warm, albeit a little scratchy, sweaters. tin foil hats. the too-strong smell of day-old coffee. dog-eared books. glasses sinking down the slope of your nose. the glow-stars you put on your ceiling when you were fifteen. faded physics textbooks. mugs all over the fucking house. not getting invited to that party. exhaustion. feeding the neighborhood cats.

LIKES: the pursuit of knowledge, talking too much, mozzarella sticks, CATS!!!, his really comfy loafers, thunderstorms, picking fights (never physical), following the rules, having a set bedtime but staying up way past it anyway, orange hi-c, being alone, winter, did i say cats, rubik’s cubes.

DISLIKES: being out-witted, people in general, dogs bigger than a bear cub, anchovies, the feeling of in-ear headphones, when people put back groceries in the wrong spot, using non-mechanical pencils, being excessively sweaty, cooked potatoes with the skin still on them.

HEAD CANONS

– Somehow a crazy cat lady but 23 years old and male. Seriously, he loves cats. All small cute animals, really, but cats are domesticated and easier to obtain as pets. Currently he has two: a fat, elderly tomcat named Bernoulli, and a four-month-old calico named Keppler. It’s the closest thing to a dad he’ll ever be.

– Technically an orphan. His parents had both died by the time he was eighteen, so legally he’s been on his own since then. The only family he really has is his aunt who let him stay with her for three years before he got on his feet. (She has a lot of patience and is a little kooky, so it worked out decently).

– Most definitely asexual. There’s never been an interest in that aspect of life (outside of some sort of scientific part in learning anatomy) and there probably never will be. Most likely the least sexual person you’ll meet. It also takes him a long, long time to a. develop feelings for someone (of any gender) and b. admit/understand he has them in the first place. Jaerd carried a torch for his childhood best friend without realizing it, and once he did, he felt like dying. He didn’t though!

– Massive believer in ghosts. Somehow full of scientific wonder and also primal fear of the entirety of the paranormal. Halloween terrifies him, and instead of going out and trick-or-treating (aka, enraging the spirits) he’s created a tradition of watching horror movies and scientifically debunking them to soothe his fears.

BEATRICE CHEUNG – The only person Jaerd might say he’s afraid of (ghosts aren’t people). Even though she’s consistently putting her foot up his ass, they’ve been friends and roommates for years now.
