Euini is so special to me...
He is such a perfect but heartbreaking example of how the way you speak about children (especially when it's directly TO THEM) can completely shape and twist their sense of self into something so warped and distorted. And not to mention completely destroying any amount of self confidence they have. Repeatedly telling a child that they're useless, worthless, pathetic, etc will, without a doubt, become a kind of absolute truth in their mind. And it can be nearly impossible to come back from. (the rest below because wow this went off the rails)
The witches kids using the reference of Maxfield Parrish’s “The Lantern Bearers” - 1908
I like this drawing a lot and at one point I thought “Hey the kids would look perfect to put in it”, so i did. I like the glow that i achieved in this, mostly thanks to abusing color dodge.

CONGRATULATIONS MY KING
just got back from the theater, fellas
Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey was so much Better than I thought it would be, the media lied, the youtube thumbnails and clickbait lied, Nolan himself lied. This film is an instant classic, I do NOT say that lightly about any new films. it is not an easy thing to attain.
but holy shit. That man knows how to make a Freaking Movie.
the whole time i was jaw dropped, in awe of the camera shots, the freaking visuals, the props and scenes and locations and costumes and weathering and practical effects and lighting and the freaking gorgeous gorgeous ships they actually sailed in and filmed on; from a writing perspective, the edits and adapations of the poem were frankly flawless. This took an epic poem full of wonderful mythos that we all already know and is so deeply ingrained in our pop culture already that is taken for granted and gives it a respectful homage and a bold new coat of paint. Matt Damon, man I am not the biggest fan of him, but he Became Odysseus, at least Nolan's version. My goodness. The framing of the tragedies and deaths and Tragic and Traumatic was. a fantastic choice. It really highlights just how freaking brutal it all was. and the themes, ultimately, I felt respected as an audience member without feeling like I was left in the dark (like i did with Backrooms, also a fantastic film).
overall. 8.5/10 please someone i need to talk about this movie
