REGISTRATION DAY
Success Resources Virtual Event
4th June 2020 “Secret to Develop Mental and Physical Health”
Despite having some assignments to do during MCO, I decided to join one of the virtual events from Success Resources titled “Secret to Develop Mental and Physical Health”. It was actually pop out on my feed in Instagram where they had it as a platform to advertise the virtual event. It was a great opportunity for me to join this event since we cant have any gatherings due to COVID-19.
This one virtual event captured my interest when I got to know the speakers and the topic that they will talk about. The speakers are the world-class health experts: Skip Archimedes, Angela Middleton and Dr Sheikh Muszaphar, a Malaysian astronaut.
This virtual event was an international one where all the people around the world can register for a free spot in that event. There were so many things that I learnt especially when it comes to socialising with the people worldwide, The chat box provided for us to ask questions or to comment and having some discussion with the other attendees. I was so excited listening to the talk of these three speakers where they shared their experience in life such as life in space from the Malaysian astronaut. It was a great exposure to know that and undoubtedly I was saying that I am proud to be a Malaysian while seeing the achievements that Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar achieved in his life. In fact, he also shared about on how we can keep our mental and physical health in order to survive in these hard times during MCO. The other speakers who are the world-class health experts were focusing on the ways that we can apply to maintain our health during the quarantine. There were so many facts and tips being shared by them. and it was undeniably a great knowledge being shared for me as a teenagers to take care of my health since at young age.
This virtual event really benefits me in helping me surviving quarantine with a good mental and physical health. It was a great opportunity hearing those tips and story from the experts and the astronaut. I will surely looking forward for this kind of events in the future!
Healthy Honey Biscuit
30th April 2020
Baking is not one of the thing that I used to do at home. Basically I learned on how to cook traditional food rather than baking at home. Having much time wasted due to Movement Control Order because of Covid-19, I made a decision to start learning some sort of new skills to develop myself during this hard times.
I started with some sort of curiosity where I got to think on how to stay healthy by eating baked food. As we all know, we don’t need to use oil in most baking recipe and I think that it was the best way to keep my body healthy. I chose Honey Butter Biscuit as the first trial for developing my baking skills. It is just not the one which viral nowadays, but I found that this biscuit give some sort of nutrition to our body. The use of honey in the biscuit helps in preventing cancer and heart disease, reducing ulcers, regulating blood sugar, soothing coughs and sore throats. In fact, I also decided to renovate the recipe that being published by some websites to make it more health such I change the amount of butter used to the smaller amount so that I can reduce the fat percentage in that biscuit.
In the way of investigating and preparing the substances for my biscuit, I found out that it would be more healthy if I used the air fryer to bake my biscuit. It is because the air fryer does not have some sort of radiation that the oven have, so it can reduce the effect of the radiation in the oven. The steps were so easy where I have to mix all the ingredients such as 250 g plain flour (86% carbs, 12% protein), 4 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp salt, 25 g sugar, 115 g cold cubed butter, 140 g milk, 2 tsp vinegar, 50g butter and 50 g honey. Put it in a tray and bake in the air fryer at 180c in 15 minutes.
The recipe didn’t turned out so well but as a first timer, I feel very satisfied with the taste as I try out to experimenting the healthy recipe by reducing the amount of some ingredients, but it always have a next time to try again. This experience make me interested in this new baking skills because I can even try out to bake my own recipe. I will surely try another recipe to enhance my baking skills and maybe having it as a passion one day!
TKCongratulations
5th March 2020
TKCongratulations is an activity which we had to arrange flowers by our own and sell it to the form 5 students whose gotten their SPM results on that day. It was an unforgettable experience where I got to learn the bouquet flower arrangement from my TOK teacher and it was fun! In fact, on that day, we got to apply what we learn in business management which is marketing and we did it. We did a lot of applying skills such as targeting the parents to buy the flowers for their daughters and use our selling point of bouquet even though we were using the plastic flowers, but it can last forever! We manage to sell all the flowers and got that net profit of those sales around MYR 700. This experience will help us in finding the CAS funds for our next project.
TKCosmic
18th January 2020 & 9th March 2020
TKCosmic would be the one experience that affects me a lot. Being a person who doesn’t have any passion for astronomy, make me realise the beauty of the space and all the astronomy stuff after I joined this project. Just like its name, TKCosmic, it tells the participants all the stuff in space such as planets, asteroids, stars and many more. This project was initiated by my friend, Aieliz who has a strong passion for astronomy and idolizes Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor, our first Malaysian Astronaut since she was very young. I love seeing her enjoying doing her CAS Project because this was something that she really looked up to. This project aims to instill interest in astronomy to the participants.
The first series of the project was a workshop, and she spent only 1 hour and 15 minutes to brief regarding TKCosmic and space. This series was held on the same day of TKCultivate English Project, on 18th January 2020 via a slide presentation to the ‘madrassa’ students who were very keen to absorb the knowledge regarding space being delivered by Aieliz. I was directed to handle the equipment which I had to bring the projector and do the checklist regarding the things that need to be bought on that day. Everything going smoothly as planned. After the session ended, the ‘madrassa’ students were tasked to draw and make their own constellation on a black paper with beads. They were divided into a group of 2 and we all scattered and be placed on a group. My group members were decided to make a butterfly constellation and guess what it turned out very beautiful and fascinating! After all, this activity was meant to be for ‘creativity’ CAS strand. The first series ended successfully and we let the ‘madrassa’ students take their own constellation as a gift.
The second series was on 9th March that took place at school. The students from the astronomy club who consist of 50 people were the ones who joined this series. This series can be deemed as the peak one as it involves the mainstream students. Why this date was chosen, it is because the supermoon will appear on that night, big applause to the project leader who did excellent research on this, gave us opportunity to experience watching supermoon using a telescope! We were tasked in pairs to explain about the astronomy stuff and mine was the supermoon topic. It was a great experience dealing with the students and I got so much knowledge about astronomy throughout this activity. In fact, these students also were given the opportunity to look at the moon and some planets that appear at that night by using a telescope. Being in charge of equipment, I was the one who was tasked to settle on the token of appreciation for all teachers and members of cohort 4 and the gifts were extremely great which we got a star projector. Thank you Project leader! In fact, there was an exhibition about the astronomy stuff where we have to invent posters that describe all about astronomy and mine was about the 12 things being invented by NASA and the effects of space travel on astronauts. This part also widens my knowledge about NASA and space and make me interested in this field.
This project has brought a lot of experiences and new knowledge being absorbed and I really looked up to this field as it is very interesting!
Nurture Nature
28th January 2020 & 29th January 2020
My dream career is to be an environmental scientist and of course, this project really captured my interest. This project is aiming to raise awareness in maintaining the population of mangrove. This project, Nurture nature was being initiated by my friend, Ilyana. This one topic that I learnt in my secondary school about mangrove and I have never imagined to experience it on my own. Then, I got to experience it when joining this programme.
The first series of this project is the Mangrove Care Workshop that being led by Ilyana. This workshop was held a day before the programme so that we can do the practical part on the next day. In fact, the day before that, I was on duty to take the coconut leaves and in charge of the equipment for this project. I was excited at that time because I managed to recap all the content that I learnt in secondary school. In fact, this workshop really helped me in understanding well about mangrove and the significance of this plant to the whole world especially as the front-line defend to the natural disasters. This also aligned with the sustainable development goals, Goal 15: Life on Land, Goal 15 calls for more attention to preventing the invasion of introduced species and more protection of endangered species. After the workshop ended, we were instructed to make our own grasshopper for the ‘Creativity’ strand by using coconut leaves. It was hard for the first time cause I never made a grasshopper before, but it worth to experience! I succeeded to make one with the help of the project leader, and we lined up all the grasshopper on the table, it was such an incredible sight!
The next day, we departed from the school to the Nature Park, Kuala Selangor. I was directed to handle the equipment part such as first aid kits, the tags for all participants, the list of the things to bring, and the token of appreciation. This duty taught me a lot in handling equipment especially when I got the opportunity to choose the ideal gift for the token of appreciation, where I was briefed by my CAS Coordinator on how to determine the suitable gift. The duration time to arrive is about an hour and 15 minutes. It was a fascinating journey where I got to experience the sight during the journey. When we arrive at that place, there was something happened as it taught me to do an investigation further before continuing an action. Then, we managed to get on the train and visit Bukit Melawati before actually arrived at Nature Park. The session continued where I got much information about almost all the plants that lived there and finally, we arrived at the planting mangrove site, and this was a thoughtful moment, where finally I get to contribute to the country in order to defend our land from any natural disaster like the tsunami.
This project ended with all the aims being achieved and I am really happy in joining this project in fact, getting new environmental knowledge which must be useful for me one day!
TKCalm
16th January 2020, 26th February 2020 & 1st March 2020
I am the person who is not really good at managing stress and this project really made me feel excited to join. TKCalm is a project initiated by my friend, Alisya Husna. This project consists of 3 series which are TKCare to Share, TKCandle, and TKClear your Minds. The aim of this project is to promote aromatherapy as a calming remedy and to enhance the lab skills among students.
The first series of this project, TKCare to Share which we had to accumulate our creativity in inventing an online magazine which had the content of how to cope with stress. We were divided into two groups in order to complete the online magazine. I find this session really benefitting me while doing it because I got much information about stress and how to cope with it. Of course, I will make it useful because everyone experiencing stress in life and those tips would be beneficial for me. In fact, I also found the significance of aromatherapy which align with the aim of this project as one of the calming remedies and I really look up to the next series of this project to find out is it really works for me.
The second series of this project, TKCandle which we had to make our own candle! This one is such a great experience where usually I buy candles at IKEA and having no idea that I can make it on my own. Here also I experience a duty given by the project leader where I have to deal with the lab assistant, to book the lab and order the equipment thus learning the precautions rules in the lab when using the Bunsen burner so that I can brief it to the other participants. This is when I got to know the procedure, and thank you to the assistants of the project leader who helped me throughout the process. When the candle is ready, I was experimenting whether aromatherapy really works for, and guess what it works!
Then, on the 1st march, we proceeded with the last series, TKClear your minds, where we got to do Yoga and guess what, it is one on the lifetime experience! I got to understand the benefits of Yoga and surely will make it as a routine one day! All in all, this programme is a great one and all the aim is achieved throughout the series. I would really look up to many more remedies for stress one day!
TKCalligraphy
7th January 2020, 15th January 2020, 25th February 2020 & 9th March 2020
TKCalligraphy was one of my friend’s project, Munawar who has opened my eyes on the importance of the Arabic Calligraphy in everyday use in the centuries even in the recent world. The aim of this project was to raise awareness of the contributions of Arabic calligraphy and to create a useful skill in students’ self. All I can say is the aim was achieved successfully throughout the series because I can see the improvements on realizing the importance of this Arabic calligraphy in the mainstream students and myself too.
The first series of the project started on 7th and 15th of January by holding a workshop for the committee members which is Cohort 4. The presentation was conducted by the project leader, Munawar by explaining the origin and the types of Arabic calligraphy such as Khat Naskh, Kufi and Tsulus. In fact, Munawar also gave us the opportunity to write Khat on our own as she guided us one by one, letters by letters until all of us masters all the skill to write all the Arabic letters in Khat.
The second series was a workshop with mainstream students(form 2 students that took Arabic). Here where I got my duty to set up the equipment by setting up the LCD, the slide and so on. I got the new experience all the way since I have never handled the electronic equipment before this, and this taught me a lot on how to set up and taking care of the electronic equipment. For the workshop with the mainstream students, I was really enthusiastic since I love being around with kids, even though they are not kids anymore, but then still they are younger than me. Socialising with these people help me in increasing my communication skill. In fact, Munawar also assigned us in pairs to teach how to write the Arabic letters. I was assigned to teach them the Dza, Dzai, Ra’ and Zai letters to the students. There are some of them, who are really passionate about calligraphy and we also exchange some experience and knowledge so that we got new knowledge about Calligraphy.
The third series was the exhibition of the Calligraphy artwork, where our artwork will be displayed at the foyer of our college in order to spread the awareness of the beauty and significance of Arabic Calligraphy in life. In fact, I am satisfied because finally, I can make one artwork of Calligraphy for myself. It has been a great experience in learning calligraphy in the right way and I would consider continuing my passion when I was in my primary school back then.
SuperSix Rugby Touch Sales
16th February 2020
It was a great experience when we got to join the Supersix Rugby sales and be apart of their programme. In fact, this was my very first experience being apart of one of the biggest SBP programme and it was a fruitful one. There were so many challenges that we faced before the day comes when we are actually struggling to get the booth in order to sell and raising funds for our CAS Project. At last, we got the approval from the Leader of Parents Teacher Association (PTA). So, we did our planning by deciding the goods that we want to sell and absolutely the aim was making profits in order to support our CAS funds.
We come out with the list of menus which are commonly being sold but some of the menus were rarely being found too like ‘Sagu Gula Melka’. I’m proud to say that this rare one was made by my own recipe! And this menu contributes a lot to the net profit that we got. From this, I got to apply my knowledge in learning IB Business Management such as marketing, cash flow, profit, human resources and the marketing part is the most effective part when I got to improve my social skills by interacting with the customers. In fact, I also managed to develop a new skill in solving problems when we had some difficulties in preparing suitable equipment for our goods. We got to figure out some ways and surprisingly it turns out well. I am very proud of my teammates that really helped me throughout the sales activity and manage to receive about 70% profit than the cost.
Next, I was involved in preparing the food and serve the VIP. It was a great opportunity where I got to socialise with the VIP and serve them. My TOK teacher and English teacher were the ones who assisted us and I managed to acknowledge the rules and regulations when dealing with the VIP.
It was an amazing experience where I got to apply my skill and knowledge in real-life situations. I hope to seek this kind of activity so that I can be a better person one day.
Inisiatif MESTECC Conference 2020
12th February 2020
This was one of the programmes initiated by the Minister of MESTECC (Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change). It is basically a conference and exhibition to expose to the students about Technology, Environment and science in the world nowadays which these courses are needed to develop our country’s profession and invent something new and beneficial for others. I was really excited at that time especially when I get to know that I will grasp the knowledge about science and technology which is really related to my course that I will be taking in degree. I am really hoping that this conference will be an eye-opening one so that I can be more specific in determining my dream course and my dream career in the future.
This programme started with a speech by the Minister of MESTECC (Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change) YB Yeo Bee Yin that explaining the initiatives being planned by the MESTECC to be done in the year of 2020. I love the way they presented the initiatives because it seems convincing and I believe they can excel in what they had planned. I am spirited to be the one who will involve in this field and contribute back to my country one day. Next, was a forum titled STI Career Pathway-Inspiring The Next Generation which had two speakers, which are an engineer and a molecular biology doctor. Their speech was a mind-blowing one when I got to see clearer about my pathway after IB and get to acknowledge my interest in science and technology. In fact, on that day, I also manage to overcome my nervousness in order to talk in public by asking the question. This was my first time at the conference, and by trying to ask a question, I think it was a great achievement! Next, we visited the booth so that we can get a clearer idea of how MESTECC managed to applicate all their profession and ability to contribute to the nation.
All in all, this event manages to expose me to the importance of science and technology in a rapidly moving world of modernization. Hopefully, through this event, I’ll be able to widen my understanding of the application of science and technology.
Freshies Got Talent
5th February 2020
It was not my first time joining this kind of orientation programme for the form one students since I had experienced it in my boarding school, but then this one was a bit different. We were instructed by our CAS coordinator to attend this ‘Freshies Got Talent’ programme and make the comment and analysis of the performances. What makes this programme differs from my previous experience is when this school is actually skilful in drama and pantomime performance. This kind of skill already being instilled in each and every one of the school students be able to do that kind of performance.
There were 4 houses, and 8 performances, which are 2 for each. Most of the songs were accurately right that suit the theme that they have chosen. In fact, the performance was fascinating and skilful where I am so impressed with the way they act or dance by having only a few weeks of training. The winner was the representative from the Selendang Delima. These form 1 students were dancing for their first performance and choosing to do the pantomime for their second performance. It was a great experience where I got to understand the storyline without a word being uttered by the actors. In fact, there were some additional solo and grouping performances, being presented by this school’s students such as solo singer and Arabic Dancing. This was a great opportunity for the students to develop their skill and talent in order to achieve what they want. In fact, I got to learn the diversity of the culture as well as the timeline of the history being presented by attending this event.
It was a great experience all the way, cause I got a lot of input and new knowledge especially about our culture and history behind it. I would seek a lot more talent and ability being shown off one day so that these students can be a better person one day.
TKConcern For National Park
1st and 2nd of February 2020
This is one of the most challenging projects that I would say since I saw how the process was going on at that time in order to make it as a real one. TKConcern for National Park was a project initiated by Qistina Aliyah, one of my IBDP friends. This project is aimed to give an exposure towards the ecosystem and ecology of National Park and also its function. This programme was held in Taman Negara, Jerantut, Pahang.
It was a long 5 hours journey for 286.6 km and it was a new experience for me travelling this far by bus even some of the friends having difficulties in this travel where they experienced a bit sickness in the bus. But it is not for me, cause I am quite familiar with the long hours of a journey before this by car. When we arrived, we were briefed by the owner of the resort which was En Firdaus about the details, the rules and regulations being in National Park, bits of the history of Taman Negara and also he introduced us to the rangers that would lead and guide us for the 2 days activities. The first activity was the visit to the Orang Asli Village on the side of Sungai Tembeling and to acknowledge their uniqueness and how they live in the jungle. From here, surely I learnt a lot, such as the differences of them really make them unique and they also taught us how to survive in the jungle. I realized that some of the scientific application had been applied by them when they started to teach us about how to use the blowpipes to shoot dart to kill animals and how to light up a fire to survive in the jungle. This event shows that the knowledge that we learnt nowadays is universal and it belongs to everybody. In fact, the ranger also told us about the Bateq Tribe culture and history of that tribe that makes me able to consider choices and ethics in dealing with these people.
The second activity was Night Walk. We managed to grasp the knowledge about the nocturnal animal and plants. This was an amazing experience when we got to observe the nocturnal animal from the observation tower and got to know their activity and lifestyle at night. The last activity was jungle trekking to Canopy Walkway and Bukit Teresek. It was a long and adventurous journey for us since the total distance is around 7km go and back. We also managed to hike to the top of Bukit Teresek which is 345m height above sea level. In fact, I found an ethical application being highlighted at this place which is to take care of the environment when we were needed to walk on a platform rather than on the ground. It is because they are considering the environmental ethics and try to take care of it as much as they can. They also will penalize for those who take even one leaf from the jungle cause it is also considered as a heritage to be taken care of. I would say that this activity was challenging one as it tested my level of stamina, in fact, made myself ready for my CAS Project which is hiking on the next week. But, the Canopy Walk was one of the most interesting activity when I got to identify that I have a bit of fear of height but still can be controlled. The scenery from the top was fascinating and encouraged me to spread the awareness of taking care of this appealing creation. I was incharged in the crowd control to control the students’ movement throughout the project.
After all, all the 4 aims are successfully being achieved and congrats to Qistina that succeed in giving an exposure towards the significance of national park to our environment along with the UN Sustainable Development goals 15: Life on Land. I would surely seek to this kind of activity in the future.
TKC Cross Country 2020
21st January 2020
Cross country is an annual programme being held here in Kolej Tunku Kurshiah that involved all the students, teachers and staff here. Although it is not something new for me, cause I had experienced in for 5 times in my secondary school, but definitely experienced it at different places, with different places taught me different things in order to develop myself.
It somehow grasps my attention when I see different competitiveness in these students here rather than my schoolmate before. It is because I am not from a single set school before this, so that’s why the bonding among them and their girls’ power are mainly a crystal clear difference that I can spot here. The cheers, the spirit of helping each other towards the finishing line taught me how to be cooperative and work collaboratively in a group even though we are from different ages.
Nevertheless, I admit that I was not giving my all in this race but surely I reached the finishing line with full of satisfaction because I managed to identify my weaknesses like the level of stamina that I have and surely I will improve these aspects in the future. I will try my best for next year in order to inspire the new cohort, indirectly build better health, and get to know the mainstream students as a medium for me to increase my communication skill. There are a lot more talent and ability to be shown in the future if I work harder.
OGA Run
19th January 2020
It was my first time joining a ‘run’ programme since I entered IB. OGA (Old Girls Association) of Kolej Tunku Kurshiah was an organizer of this programme. We were invited to join this programme as we are the part of Kolej Tunku Kurshiah. Never thought the first RUN for this year would be this great, but definitely this is an awesome one! This programme was conducted in University Malaya, a day after we finished my friend’s CAS Project in Sungai Buloh. Although it was a hectic week all the way, that would never be an excuse for me to not participate in this programme.
This run involved all the alumni from Kolej Tunku Kurshiah and its current students, though it may seem like we were not socialised with other people, OGA made it as an open programme for the family of TKC’s alumni to join. From this opportunity, I got to know people of all ages and socialise with them, telling stories and sharing tips and indirectly increase my social skill and communication skill like the manners that I should apply to various ages of people such as the spontaneous and frankness of the words that I used really play an important role in socialising with these people. It is a beautiful thing when I have got to come out from my comfort zone, from being socialising with school members, but now I can socialise with other people which are older or younger than me.
Although I am not one of the winners, the experience means more than the prizes. Reaching towards the end of the race was an indescribable feeling when I managed to finish what I started at the first. In fact, this also shows how life goes when we really need to struggle and do our best, to feel the satisfaction at the finishing line. In fact, I also can analyse and learned something from this programme on how they managed the programme properly when the tentative of the programme was going as it planned, though they were not able to invite Syed Saddiq as one of the main guests as stated on the tentative list, the programme went well when they have the second plan. This thing taught me how to be prepared if any of the bad consequences would happen in the future.
This programme was a memorable one especially when I experienced it with my friends. I would really like to seek this kind of programme in the future so that it can develop more skill in achieving my goals to be a holistic person one day.
TKChef
TKChef, was one of my favourite CAS activity because I love cooking! But then, again it was not an easy task as we need to innovate a cuisine from the chosen country. I chose Thailand cause I commonly eat Thailand cuisine and of course I chose to innovate their signature dish which is Tom yum Gong! Throughout the CAS stages that involve investigation and all, I was so excited, getting to master my favourite dish so that I can cook it often and eat my own cooking!
So, in the process of investigation, I got some problems when I cant find the real tom yum paste originally from Thailand, then innovation is one of the problem solver! I use the usual Malaysia Tom Yum paste but then adding more lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves so that it tastes like the real TomYum from Thailand! In the process of action, I also learned a lot from my mother on the tips in making Tom yum so that it will taste just like what Thailand people did. At the end of the action, I ask my mother for a review, and guess what? It is a success!
I have a great experience by joining this activity and enhancing my cooking skills in savouries dishes other than desert.
TKCHEF
TKCraft
23 OCTOBER 2019
It was still early CAS experience where I really enthusiasts to get involved more and more in the CAS activity. Although sometimes the CAS experiences were not my comfort zone, then why not trying something new right? TKCraft is one of the CAS experience that had developed my skills in art. I had experienced being involved in art thingy when I was in my primary school, where I got to really interested in art but then I did not have time to continue my passion in art when I entered secondary school. So, this CAS activity really made me feel blessed, getting to get involved in expressing my art skill.
For the task, we need to choose the desired country to determine the design of the jewellery box. This jewellery box will represent the culture’s identity based on their ancient jewellery box or their cultures design. It is because every country has its own identity and jewellery box to store their jewellery and for some of them, it is used as a symbol of luxurious. I chose Saudi Arabia as I am really interested in this country’s design and culture. For the investigation, I started to research about Saudi Arabia and found out that Saudi Arabia Jewellery box is used to store the Bedouin Jewellery to keep it safe from damage. It is important for the wealthy family to have the jewellery box as jewellery represents their status. I chose some design that was actually originated from their own jewellery box and I also included some of their culture’s identity, like the geometric design. For the preparation, I decided the colour of the materials and some of the decorations of the design and listed it down. I also learned the geometric design making through Youtube and get to use with it. Next, I implemented my plan to a real one. This is the most challenging part where I got to test my drawing skills, and learning how to paint neatly. There were so many undesired moments when I got to match the wrong colours, wrong measurement but then it turns out well but not saying it is beautiful cause beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Whatever it is, it always comes to the reflection, that makes me learned a lot to do better next time. In fact, I had compiled the evidence of my jewellery box through google slides to be presented to my group members.
I have a great experience where I got to express my art skill and I hope to be involved in this kind of activity next time.
SAUDI ARABIA JEWELLERY BOX
TKCultivate English
18th January 2020
This TKCultivate English project was led by Aisyah Abd Halim, one of the Year 1 students. This project aims to fuel the desire to be a bilingual person among these students, to make sure that the ‘madrassa’ students are able to know how to retain a lifestyle with knowledge, to support and assist the madrasah students in learning the English language and to ensure the students apply their linguistic knowledge of the English language. This was an interesting experience where we got to see how people in Madrasah view this English education and we manage to encounter the differences between the view of people out there and the madrasah students about how they view the English education. Madrasah Education Program is a comprehensive program that aims to provide appropriate and relevant educational opportunities within the context of Muslim culture, customs, traditions, and interests through the integration of the Arabic Language and Islamic Values Education (ALIVE).
The project leader had organized many kinds of activities for the students. For the first activity, the madrassa students were divided into two groups and will be playing a game named ‘Charades’. This game was being assisted by Mellin and Illyana. the students need to guess the word in English based on their friends' acting. This activity was set as a placement test to investigate the level of excellence in English among the madrassa students. This game also aims to increase the vocabulary of simple words of things around us. But then, we tried to increase the level of vocabulary for the next game.
We proceeded with the ‘Last Girl Standing’ game where the students need to answer the question when it is their turn. It was an amazing experience where we managed to get a new experience dealing with madrassa students in this madrasah. This project aligns with the CAS learning outcomes which the extension of an existing experience that I had which is teaching and also by considering ethics in actions where we acknowledge and obey the rules and the regulations at that place. I was enjoying this kind of activity really well.
