DIY Bespoke Your NiQua at Century City Mall
By: xoxo MrsMartinez
I visited Century City Mall earlier today and spotted NiQua (pronounced as Ni-ka) Pop-up Store. It is my favorite homegrown company that offers classic and contemporary design leather goods. Aside from showcasing its latest collection, the brand is also conducting a workshop/craft party dubbed as DIY Bespoke Your NiQua.
this is me at 11AM ready for a crafty morning ; )
Apron & Handbag : NiQua
I signed up and tried my hand in sewing. I am not an artistic person so a Do-It-Yourself (DIY) project is a bit challenging for me. The struggle is real but in the end, when I received my monogrammed envelope, I felt a sense of accomplishment.
DIY Bespoke Your NiQua
Materials
I chose a two-toned color for my leather envelope, you can also opt for a single color to your liking. Every part needs to be hand-sewn together. It was truly a labor of love.

Thanks to my coach, Karen, for helping me out throughout this DIY project ; )
Roasted Tomato Soup + Juice Hut Manila
After the workshop, I rewarded myself with a #BeautifulBreakfast from Early Bird Breakfast Club and Juice Hut Manila. All that sewing drained my energy... not ; p
NiQua Pop-Up Store
Thanks Bunnie @bunniedeguzman for the awesome craft party!
NiQua Pop-Up Store will be in Century City Mall until November 1, 2015 (Sunday).
If our home economics teacher gave us pieces of leather to turn into pretty clutches, we would’ve most likely aced our sewing lessons (why would a 12-year-old be eager to sew a throw pillow?).
If our home economics teacher gave us pieces of leather to turn into pretty clutches, we would’ve most likely aced our sewing lessons (why would a 12-year-old be eager to sew a throw pillow?). This was what we realized after spending a day putting together a leather clutch at the DIY Bespoke Your NiQUA workshop at their pop-up shop in Century City Mall.
For P1,800, you will be given a kit that will let you make your own bag from start to finish—perforated, pre-cut buttery leather rectangles, thread and screw-on fasteners—it’s like a more fun, grown-up version of paint-by-numbers, except you get a handy purse after.
The best part? There’s a debossing machine at the pop-up shop so you can also have your handmade clutch monogrammed with your initials. The workshop will be until November 1 and it’s a great way to spend the weekend with your friends, mom, or titas. There’s a reservation form on their website, but walk-ins are welcome, too.
We made one today and it’s so addictive that we want to go back this weekend to make more clutches—it’s also a great Christmas present for a loved one, and the cut of the clutch is basic enough that it can even be used by men if you pick dark-colored leather.
You can also check out Ni QUA’s other bag styles at the pop-up shop, too. One of the biggest selling points of the brand is their willingness to customize and tweak existing designs according to your preference. “We have two different kinds of customization: Bespoke Your Ni QUA and Color Your Ni QUA,” says owner and designer Bunnie de Guzman. Bespoke lets you play around with existing designs; you can turn a solid-colored bag into a two-toned bag, choose between a short or shoulder handle based on your lifestyle—you can even pick the color of the bag’s hardware. Color Your Ni QUA, meanwhile, lets you select a color from 15 available leather swatches.
SCARTE repurposes scraps of leather and 50% of proceeds of the sale benefits Real Life Foundation.
This tote uses pigskin and cow leather, which makes it extremely lightweight and perfect for shopping.
One of our favorite styles from Ni QUA, Scarte, is sustainable and supports a cause, too. Scarte is the Italian word for “scrap,” and the bag is created by piecing together leather left over from other bags. The result is a gorgeous weave-like bag locked together by metal rivets. 50% of the proceeds from Scarte goes to Real Life foundation, which provides education to underprivileged communities. There are different sizes of Scarte to choose from, from a tiny pouch, a convertible shoulder clutch, a medium-sized everyday tote, to a small bag with a chain shoulder strap.
HAVE your DIY clutch monogrammed on the spot for free.
DIY Bespoke Your Ni QUA and the pop-up shop will be at Century Mall until November 1. In case you’re out of town, don’t worry, Ni QUA has plans to hold another one soon, and according to Bunnie, you can also buy the DIY leather clutches as kits that you can give away to your stylish and crafty friends this Christmas.
To know more about Ni QUA, visit www.ni-qua.com and follow them on Instagram: @niquashop.
Color Your NiQUA
Bags bags bags! It’s every girl’s fascination. When I was younger, I couldn’t go out without my bag. All kinds of sizes and colors…from body bags to shoulder bags…you name it, I got ‘em!
Everything changed when I got into photography. My colorful cute bags turned into a big black camera bag.
Thank God people started selling cute camera bags! It rekindled my love for it, and I started looking them up online. One of the bags I loved the most were NiQUA’s leather bags!
Simply put, the brown bags are amazing, coupled with NiQUA’s brilliant idea of giving you the option to customize your bag!
“Color Your NiQUA” lets you choose the style of the bag that you want, the size, and the color! They have 15 colors to choose from. You can also put monograms. If I remember correctly, they can now make up to 10 letters already!
Thank God for Share Movement and for the generous Bunnie for sending 5 Color Your NiQua catalogs for our Craft and Share workshop! 2 of our attendees won them in our mini contest!
I chose this Manico Tan bag because I love the color so much and it’s just the right size for my laptop.
Ahhh! I love it so much! They really have lots of other leather products to choose from!
Great news for you guys! NiQUA will be having a DIY-Make-Your-Own-Bag event this coming October 30 and 31! You wouldn’t want to miss this!
Craft and Share
by: Jam Pangilinan
After our successful Workshop Party, we followed it right away with a collaboration with Nica Cosio and Mia Sison of Craft Party PH for a morning of fun and DIY-ing our way to creativity!
But before our workshop day, we met up with Constance Styling’s team to make our venue as pretty as possible.
Ohhh I cannot express how grateful I am for them. They are so fun to work with; their team was so efficient!
Anyway, workshop day! Our team prepared the attendees’ kits. Isn’t it pretty?
Meet our collaborators for this workshop, Nica and Mia! (That’s me in the middle) :D
Even our popcorn matches with our theme! :D
Mia started with the introduction about Craft Party PH’s background. Speaking of background, did I mention how pretty their background is? HAHA
The exciting part was applying what we’ve learned! Look how serious they are!
Pastry Amoire delivered their special apple cinnamon sticky buns all the way from BF Homes!! YUM!!
Our attendees enjoyed their sticky buns. I can’t wait to try out the other flavors and of course, Mia of Juice Hut Manila partnered our buns with her healthy and delicious juices! :D
One for The Road gave these cute goodies.
Istorya gave our gift certificates and people from Southern Folk PH gave 12 of these special cacao.
Special handmade accessories and leather goodies from The Workroom PH.
We raffled our sponsors’ products. We had a lot and I’m so thankful for them. Even our volunteers and contributors were able to bring home some stuff. (Yay!)
Mileng of Get Filed brought some of their very nifty stuff as well!
Anyway, back to the workshop, after making their own stamps, they were asked to make use of it and make their own stationary or postcards. The stamping and painting session got more serious when we announced that Bunnie of Niqua will be choosing two of the best plate and stationary designs and will have a chance to win a very special Color Your Niqua bag!
This is Bunnie, sharing the story behind their new collection called, “Scarte”. I was so touched to hear the story behind it. We beat the same heart, Bunnie! May God bless your shop!
Mia, Nica and I were spazzing over this because their bags are gorgeous and it’s not everyday that you get to win a special leather bag!!
Did I mention that you can actually customize it? Our winners, Meg and Yka will choose the bag design and size, and even put monograms on it! Oh my! How awesome is that?
Niqua was so generous that Mia, Nica and I were given our own bags too! (Which I will blog about soon! Hee!) Thank you so much, Bunnie! Oh! Niqua also gave out 2 leather passport holders for some of the attendees/volunteers.
After our fun raffle, everyone took as many pictures as they can to make the most out of the beautiful set up!
Special thanks to our collaborators, Nica and Mia for wholeheartedly sharing your time and talent. (We are overjoyed with this workshop that we’re starting to plan another collaboration! Watch out for that!)
To my contributors, Kinskie, Sam and Jane. Thanks for helping me! Big big help! I can’t wait to meet all of the other contributors. ;)
To my friends and volunteers, Nica said it best: we are solid! I’m blessed to have you guys!
To our partners, thank you for making this workshop extra fun, special, festive and meaningful.
THE BLISSFUL BOX: MEANINGFUL CURATIONS
by Audrey Angcos of CHEERFUL JOURNEY
After every BLISSMAKERIE, participants would rave about inspiring stories, uplifting conversations, new found friends and the Blissful Box. For those who are asking, the blissful box is a curated box of delightful, handpicked items from brands that are practical and pretty yet truly inspiring. Each brand that was chosen to be included in this special box has an inspiring story to tell.
The Blissful Box that was given during the FIRST PUBLIC BLISSMAKERIE was curated by MARTINE, CARMEL, RIKKA, and YOURS TRULY. Yes, we all selected the brands of each products, put the products in the box, and designed the box. Indeed, the blissful box is a labor of love.
Here’s who curated what:
Martine: A Vanilla Story Lip Scrub, 23060PH Notebook, and PASSION CARDS (BLISS EDITION)
Audrey: Paper Pliers wired bookmarks, NiQua Ovile Tote Bags, and Girl Stuff Forever Nail Lacquers
Carmel: Urban Ashram Yoga passes and Lulu Swing envelope clutches
Rikka: Philosophy Samples and Elin multipurpose wraps
Below, we give you the reasons why we chose what we did for this edition of the Blissful Box. We hope you’ll be more enlightened by the process for the Box, and that it will somehow also inspire you to know more about these lovely brands! Enjoy!
MARTINE’S CHOICES:
A VANILLA STORY LIP SCRUB
“I adore A Vanilla Story’s lifestyle and body care products, but more than these I admire their entire ethos about slow, meaningful living. They keep their products thoughtful by making them in small batches (like the bodycare) and making them by hand (such as the Vanilla Bears). For our Blissmakerie, Andrea (the brains & beauty behind AVS) decided to create a product just for the Blissmakerie: This gorgeous lip scrub that is so yummy you could eat it!”
23060PH NOTEBOOK
“I adore paper products, especially notebooks, because I feel you can never write better than on excellent paper. I have admired the branding of Two Thirty Sixty for quite some time now, and when I was thinking of paper products for this edition of the box, they immediately came to mind. I love how thoughtfully each collection is created, and how when you hold one of their notebooks in your hand you are immediately inspired!”
PASSION CARDS – BLISS EDITION
“I wanted to give each lady a packet of Passion Cards: Bliss Edition, which is a collaboration between Make it Blissful and Chasing Dream’s Rhiza Oyos. These cards have been snapped left and right on social media, most notably on the Pursuit Manila’s community events and hubs. I hope that those who received the cards in the Blissful Box will find these a soothing balm or a helpful tonic when they need a bit of inspiration or encouragement in their day.”
AUDREY’S CHOICES:
PAPER PLIERS WIRED BOOKMARK
“Arts, crafts and dainty things make me happy! When I saw the wired art of Paper Pliers, I instantly fell in love. Anrea of Paper Pliers makes stylish bookmarks made from wire. I immediately thought that the ladies at Blissmakerie would be happy to have a wired-written bookmark memento from the gathering that would remind them to follow their bliss.”
NIQUA OVILE TOTE BAG
“I love supporting home-grown brands that adhere to good quality and timeless style. Niqua is a chic brand crafted in the Philippines. This bag is made with genuine leather and could be rolled into a small piece so you could just carry it in your bag anywhere you go. Then whenever you go shopping, you could easily get it from your bag and use it to carry your stuff in a fashionable way.”
GIRL STUFF FOREVER NAIL LACQUERS
“I told myself that if ever I will include nail lacquers in the Blissful Box, I want it to be safe, high quality, and trendy. I’m glad that Girl Stuff Forever adheres to these standards. They import their nail polish from France and it does not contain chemicals that would harm our nails. With a wide array of palettes to choose from, we can now enjoy having trendy nails in a safe way.”
CARMEL’S CHOICES
LULU SWING ENVELOPE CLUTCH
“When I’m not working, two of the things I find bliss in are travel and yoga. Visiting new places and exploring cultures are passions of mine, and I appreciate brands that share the same world view. Lulu Swing has a variety of stylish yet practical travel essentials for the young female traveller.”
URBAN ASHRAM YOGA PASSES
“As for yoga, I’m honestly not very flexible and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to do a headstand. Urban Ashram believes that yoga is for everyone, and that learning mindful living through yoga is just as important as yoga’s physical benefits. Beginners may attend the Flexibility Not Required classes in UAM branches.”
RIKKA’S CHOICES
PHILOSOPHY SAMPLES
“I chose Philosophy to be part of Blissful Box because of their simplicity and advocacy of celebrating beauty of the human spirit. I am amazed that their products give you a fresher and newer perspective in life. From their simple branding, inspiring readings on the packaging and wonderful results. I wanted to share what I felt the first time I tried Philosophy. It was more than just a skin care line. I gained my confidence to follow my bliss and to become a better version of me.”
ELIN MULTIPURPOSE WRAP
“Elin understands the everyday, modern woman. Their clothes let us be comfortable in our own skin. Their gift — the Billie wrap — is a reminder that you can make something useful, even stylish, with a well-designed piece that serves a purpose.”
Aside from the wonderful products that it contains, the Blissful box has inspiring stories to share. Stories about life and success that can serve as inspiration for us to follow our bliss.
Now that you know why we chose each product inside the Blissful box, what do you think of each items? Do you already have a favorite? Do you have other products in mind that should be included in future Blissful Boxes? Let us know through the comment box below.
