Ever since Chan woke up, his mood had gone south. First, the air conditioner broke down, then the coffee machine, and then, very sadly, the collar button of his uniform. Plus he also hurt his finger stitching the button back on.
And on top of all of that, he had duty at a fucking High School annual event. It was not that he hated teenagers, but in his line of work, the teenagers always interfered. The dumbest criminals are the underage ones. Gave him a headache.
He was pissed actually, because why were these senior officers like himself being treated as watchmen outside the stupid event? The principal of the school was spoiled and rich, that's why.
As he stood outside the door to the entrance, he thought everything was under control now. Surely, nothing would go wrong.
"Good morning, officer!"
Or perhaps not.
Chan gasped, placing a hand over his heart as he looked back. It took him a while, but he recognised the mischievous face of the girl who had almost startled him to death.
Uh oh.
He was avoiding it. He had been avoiding it for weeks, and definitely did not expect it to be here... at this stupid school event.
You grinned, saluting him. "How have you been, future hubby?"
"Jesus Christ, kid." He glared back at you, finding your grin rather annoying. He placed his hands on his waist, staring you down with a stern look. "What are you doing here? And what did you just call me? Hasn't your delusion worn down yet?"
"Soooo many questions." You scrunched your nose, which he annoyingly found cute. "And what do you mean what am I doing here? Do you think I'm the kind of girl that goes around crashing annual events?" You pouted. "I go here."
Chan listened to your words, finally taking in your appearance. You were dressed in a sports uniform, basketball probably, with your blue and white basketball shorts and jersey. He hummed in acknowledgement.
You grinned again, turning around so he could see the back of your jersey, where your surname and number was imprinted. You put your thumbs over your shoulders to point at the number. "See? I'm number 7!"
You turned back around.
"You know who else is number 7?" You didn't give him a moment to respond before talking again. "All the GOATs! Cristiano Ronaldo! David Beckham! And MS Dhoni!"
He couldn't help but listen to your excited and enthusiastic words with a small frown tugging at his lips. He was trying really hard not to smile right now. He was trying to act broody and rude, so you could take a hint and just leave. And he knew that if he showed even a little bit of interest, you wouldn't leave his side all day.
"Aren't I special?" You looked up at him with hopeful eyes.
"Not really. Go and don't bother me."
Your grin didn't falter, almost like you could see he didn't mean it. "Oh look!" You pointed at his chest. He looked down to see what you were showing him, and you glided your hand up, flicking his nose, laughing gleefully. "Bye, future hubby!" You ran off before he could react.
He could just watch you run off, not quite understanding what just happened. He touched his nose, huffing. "Stupid kiddo." He grumbled under his breath.
"Oi! Get back to your position!"
Chan had to admit, you weren't your usual cheerful annoying self in the ring. Oh no, you were intimidating there. Your occasional disappointed looks towards your team members whenever they missed a shot, or the way you weren't afraid to pick a fight at every wrong sportsmanship from the other team... it was all very refreshing.
"Yo, what?" You walked towards the umpire. "How is that a foul?!"
The game was intense. Chan never thought in his life that he'd be so invested in a girls' basketball game, not a bunch of high schooler girls atleast. He watched with a frown as you played, so focused.
"Whose side are you on?" Officer Chan heard from his side and he quickly tore away his gaze from you to turn and look at the source of the voice. Officer Lee stood with a small smirk on his face. "The one that was flirting with you outside?"
Chan rolled his eyes. "Shut up, Minho."
Minho chuckled, then his eyes widened. "Ah, so that's that kid you met that night?"
"Bingo."
"Damn. Good luck with that. She's feisty."
"Thanks, Minho." Chan rolled his eyes, watching the game again.
Chan almost took a step forward with a frown when he saw the scene unfolding infront of him. A girl from the rival team had just pushed you off, using violence in between the game.
You huffed as your teammates helped you up. Chan could feel the anger in you from 30 feet away. Even he found it intimidating, how you got back up and into the game immediately, glaring at the girl here and there, your tongue poking your cheek from inside due to suppressed rage.
After that, the game was a blur. In the next 20 minutes, you were a force to be reckoned with. Angry shots, none missing. You nodded everytime someone patted you on your back, refusing to back down.
And to no one's surprise, your team won. "Fuck yeah!" You yelled, a wide grin on your face as you ignored the coach's yell to use better language. Everyone cheered, hooting and clapping loudly as your team did a group hug.
He found himself clapping. But he stopped when he realised what he was doing. You looked back at him, grinning toothily. He bit the inside of his cheek to suppress his smile. It was like your original bubbly personality was back after that intense game of brooding.
He nodded in your direction once, as if to let you know that you played well. You smiled, and oh my god, was that a blush on the stubborn kiddo's face?
His eyes widened as you blew him a kiss. "Oh God, no." He mumbled underneath his breath, looking away.
Officer Lee laughed loudly. "Oh, you're stuck in this. She's not gonna let you go."
"Did you like the game, Officer?" You approached him, grinning from ear to ear. He looked back at you, smirking and looking away.
"You were okay. Congratulations on winning." He kept it short, not wanting your ego skyrocketing. He knew enough by now that if he complimented you or smiled at you, you would immediately start thinking that he likes you back. And very frankly, he does not want a rumour about him being interested in a minor. He wasn't Drake. Not that he knew anything about the Drake controversy, he was too much of a boomer to know celebrity gossip.
"Why, thank you, future hubby."
"Can you stop calling me that?" He grumbled, glaring down at you. "This isn't something you should throw around like that. Stay in your limits, kid. Also, why are you here? Aren't you supposed to be inside with everyone and watching the function?"
"I'm not just here, you know?" You pouted. "I'm here to report serious offense." You leaned in closer, whispering your next words. "I know somewhere you're needed."
He raised a brow. "Oh? And where might that be?"
"It's a high school event, future hubby. There's bound to be high schoolers doing illegal stuff." You give him a sweet smile, and he almost groans. Great. Just what he needed. Bratty teenagers.
"Where?"
"Just behind the building."
He sighed, nodding and starting to walk off to the told location, but stops once he notices you following. "Where do you think you're going?" He turned back to look at you.
"With you?"
"Stay here, missy. Won't warn you again." He pinned you with a look that said, 'please listen to me, I'm an adult'.
"Only if you call me a good girl for staying put." You grinned up at him, blushing and giggling. Your crush on him was ridiculous, really.
He pinched the bridge of his nose, then looked back at you. "Will you be a good girl and stay put?" He said it as gently as he could, watching as your smile softened.
"Aye aye captain!" You saluted.
He scoffed, walking off to the back of the building, occasionally checking if you were doing as you promised. When you didn't, he walked off fast, reaching the crime scene.
And indeed, there were teenage boys sitting there, smoking weed and marijuana and whatnot.
"Getting high, are we?" He spoke, his hands on his waist as he stared at the brats.
One of the boys with a mullet chuckled, standing up. "Aish, looks like someone snitched." He grumbled under his breath, a roll between his lips. "Oi, one of you assholes know who told on us to Mr. Policeman over here?" He asked the gang.
"I did!" You spoke from behind him, startling him. Chan turned back with wide eyes, glaring down at you.
"I thought I told you to stay put?" He huffed.
"Sorry, Officer." You grinned. "I'm too nosy for that."
"It's that little bitch, huh?" Another boy spoke, looking at you straight in the eyes. You stood your ground, sticking out your tongue at the boy. Chan chuckled at that, but disguised it as a cough.
"Now now... that's no way to talk to a girl, is it?" Chan scoffed.
"You assh-!" The boy exclaimed as he lunged forward to attack me, but a slap from Chan sent him flying backward, and he fell on the concrete. The other boys saw this, their eyes widened.
Chan raised a brow at them, and they picked up their stuff, scurrying off as fast as they could, yelling profanities and mindless threats.
"Yeah, that's what I thought, dipshits!" You called out to them, laughing.
Chan huffed, looking back at you. He grabbed your wrist, pulling you back to the front where you both had been before this drama.
"What were you thinking?" He started. "Did you think it was fun to go and rile up a bunch of hormonal angry teenage boys? Why don't you just listen to me, huh? And where are you looking at, I'm talking to you, little miss."
But you weren't paying attention to him. He frowned, following your gaze to see you looking at a girl wearing the rival team's jersey.
Oh.
It was the girl who had pushed you.
"Wait a minute here, Officer." You handed him your bag. He held it without question, opening his mouth to ask where you were going but you were quicker, walking away with long strides, even with your short legs.
"Oi, you bitch!" You yelled out at the girl. Chan wasted no time in running after you. You looked angry, raging. If he doesn't stop you for another second, you could even-
"OW!" The girl yelped as you held her by her hair, shoving her face in the wall, her cheek scraping painfully against the concrete.
"Kid, no! Stop." Chan tried to interfere, but you didn't listen.
"What were you thinking, huh?" You growled into her ear, binding her hands behind her back with your free hand. The girl was taller and bigger than you, and yet your adrenaline won over her strength. "Had your fun in the ring?"
"Let me go, you psycho!" She whimpered.
"You wanna act like Regina George? You gotta end up like Regina George." You spat.
"Okay." Chan huffed angrily, wrapping his arms around your waist and pulling you away from her. You thrashed around in his grip, your hands and legs kicking the air.
"Let me go, I'll kill this bitch!" You yelled angrily.
"Language." He grunted, his strong arms holding your back against his chest. He gestured for the girl to run off with a tilt of his head, watching as she scurried off with a scratched up cheek and probably a bald spot.
"Come back here, you wench!"
"I said, calm down!" He yelled at you so loudly, you calmed down, eyes widening. He let you go, and you turned back to look at him with a sad look for being yelled at. "I'm done with you, you hear me? You're stubborn, and a brat. Now go back right now before I put handcuffs on you."
"Offi-"
"And what was that you call me? 'Future hubby'? Stop with that. I'm never gonna like you back. You're a kid, and a very bratty one at that. We're never getting together, and we're definitely never getting married. Now scurry off inside. Watch the event, or leave for home right now. Don't make me say it again."
He almost felt guilty when he saw the tears in your eyes, your reddened nose, and your wobbling chin.
"Go."
You wiped your tears, stomping off angrily. He sighed in relief. He didn't mean to hurt you, of course, but if hating him was the only way you'd get off his back, then he was more than willing to make that happen.
He huffed, pinching the bridge of his nose, before he heard your voice again. And this time, you weren't talking to him.
"What's your name?" You spoke.
Chan turned back to see who you were talking to, his jaw dropping at the sight of you smiling up at Officer Lee, your tears nowhere in sight.
"Minho." Officer Lee answered with a smile matching your own.
"Do you have a wife and kids at home? A girlfriend, maybe?" You grinned up at him with your childish charm.
"No, I don't, miss."
"Then will you marry me when I grow up?" You almost jumped excitedly. But Minho's expression wasn't one how Chan's had been in this situation. Minho just smiled, shaking his head at your antics.
"Sure, yeah." Minho chuckled, watching as you clapped your hands.
"Do you have a pen?" You asked him, and Chan could feel his eyeballs trying to escape his sockets, his mouth parted in offense. You were doing the same stuff you did back that night.
He could only watch as you scribbled your number on Officer Lee's palm, telling him to call you four years later, just as you had done to him all those days ago.
After that, you jumped off inside happily with a giggle and a "bye, future hubby!".
"What was that?" He glared at Minho.
"What was what?" Minho raised a brow.
"You know what. Why did you say you'll marry her? You're giving her false hope! That's not okay."
Minho looked at him and laughed like he had just told him the funniest joke. "Can you chill out, old man? It's all in good fun."
Chan frowned. "How so?"
"She's a kid, Chan. She's going to forget about it when she grows up. You see how happy she got just because I played along with her little fantasy? That was cute." Minho smiled. "Lighten up."
He couldn't stop thinking about Minho's words all day that day. He was right. You had looked so happy. Maybe playing into your fantasies was better than to make you cry. God, he was so dumb.

"Do you know why I pulled you over, miss?" The attractive officer spoke, leaning against the open window of your car. He removed the duty cap from his head, sighing as he looked at you. He looked tired.
"No.." You blink at him.
"Your number plate. It's broken."
"Oh." You nodded, toes wiggling inside your shoe as you kept wanting to just drive off. But that'd be illegal. "I'll get it fixed." You gave him a nervous and polite smile.
He raised a brow. "Where are you coming from this late at night?"
"Um.. just out." You nodded, biting your bottom lip. "with some friends." Oh God, why was this man not letting you go? You just wanted to get out of there before he suspected anything else was wrong.
"Drinking?"
"No! I mean," Your eyes widened. "no, I didn't drink."
"Do you have a license?"
"License.." You nodded, chuckling nervously. "Y- yeah, it's probably here somewhere." You turn away from him, letting your guard down and making a scared face once you were facing away from him before regaining yourself, pretending to search for the non existent license.
"Did you find it?"
"I think I-" You turned to him again, taking in a deep breath. "I think I forgot it at home."
He sighed, almost rolling his eyes. "What's your name?" He asked, taking out his notepad and pen.
"Wh- why are you asking?"
"Just answer, miss."
"Y/N."
He quickly scribbles down your name on his notepad, much to your anxiety. "Alright, Y/N, you said your name was? Did you bring proof of insurance atleast?"
"Must be here somewhere." You nodded, turning to search for the papers. Come on, Y/N. Dad must have kept it here somewhere. The officers watches as you rummage through your car, his patience slowly waning. He taps his foot on the ground, making a soft tapping noise. He crosses his arms and tries to keep a neutral expression but can't help but wonder what else you forgot besides your ID and Registration.
"Find it yet?"
"Um, I think-"
"You left it at home?" He completed your sentence with a fed up expression. You pouted, nodding as you looked down. "I need you step out of the car."
"Please just let me go-"
"Miss. I need you to step out of the car."
You tsked, not wanting to piss off the man as you stepped out of the car at once. "Am I gonna be fined?"
"I should fine you."
"Please don't."
"Why not?"
"B- because this is the first time I've forgot my license at home."
He sighed, turning away and pinching the bridge of his nose in annoyance. "Miss, it's my job."
"Please, please, please, officer." You pleaded, squeezing your eyes shut and joining your hands.
"Hey, stop that."
You opened your eyes, still giving him a puppy dog look. His gaze softened at the sight. God, why was he so weak for cute girls?
"You know what? Fine." He sighed, and your eyes widened. "Don't forget your license again, miss. I'm leaving you with a warning this time."
You grinned. "Thank you so much, officer. You're the best!"
Fate certainly was not on your side. If you thought about it hard enough, you'd realise it never really was. Because why the fuck would the wind blow at this certain moment? Why the fuck would your school ID fly out of the open window of your car? Why the fuck would it land in his feet?
"I think you dropped something."
"That's not mine." You nervously chuckled, but it was too late. He was already bending down to pick it up, his eyes immediately scanning the contents of the ID. His expression hardened as he saw your age and the realisation of your true age dawned on him.
"And how old are you exactly, miss?"
"ei- eighteen." You lied again.
The officer's gaze narrowed as he looked at you with a mixture of skepticism and annoyance. "Really? That's not what your ID tells me. It says you're only seventeen. Care to explain?"
"That's old, really! I'm 18 now." You insisted, trying to give him a pleading look.
The officer leaned against your car again, his eyes scrutinizing you. "Cut the crap. You know it's a felony to lie to a police officer, right? Especially the one who happens to be holding your ID in his hand with your date of birth printed on it." He continued to eye you, his jaw clenching as he spoke. "I'm gonna ask you again. How old are you? And don't lie to me this time. I don't take kindly to liars."
You flinched at his harsh tone, realising there was no way out now. "17."
The officer sighed as you finally confessed your age. "Why didn't you just tell the truth from the start? Lying to a cop won't do you any favours, kid."
You quickly put on more pathetic of an expression. "'m sorry, officer."
The officer shakes his head, his expression softening a bit at your apology. "Don't apologise to me. You ought to apologise to yourself for getting into this mess by yourself."
"Let me off this once, please."
The officer huffed. "Listen, kid-"
"Please please please, let me off, officer!" You quite literally begged.
The officer crossed his arms and looked at you, contemplating the situation. He knew he should give you a ticket as per the protocol, but something about you tugged at his heart strings. "Listen, I shouldn't be letting you off this easy, you know that, right?"
"I'll even get you some ice-cream."
He raised an eyebrow at your offer, unable to hold back a small chuckle. "You're trying to bribe a police officer with ice cream?"
"...is it working—?"
"No."
You pouted.
He frowned, looking away for a moment, collecting himself. Maybe he should give in, you were only a kid after all. "Fine."
"Fine?"
"Yeah, fine."
"How much?"
He glared at you. "I said, fine! I'll let you off with a warning."
"Oh." Yoh nodded. "Oh!" You smiled gratefully. "Thank you, officer!"
He rolled his eyes, nodding slightly. "You know, you're lucky I'm feeling nice tonight. Most officers wouldn't be this lenient, especially with an underage driver."
"Good thing it's you then." You grinned, but stopped when you saw his serious expression.
The officer couldn't help but raise a brow at your cheeky response. He shook his head, trying to maintain his stern behaviour. "Watch yourself, kid. Just because I'm giving you a break doesn't mean you can sass me. Understand?"
"Sorry, sir." You looked down, genuinely apologizing.
"Apology accepted."
"Can you do me one more favor, officer?" You blinked at him, feigning innocence.
"What now?"
"Please don't tell my parents." You pleaded. Dad could not find about this, or your grace would be ready til morning.
"Alright, alright. I won't tell your parents. But you have to promise me one thing." He leaned in a bit closer to you, his voice dropping to a serious tone. "This stays between us, and I mean it. No telling your friends, no bragging to anyone about how you got out of it without a ticket. Do you understand?"
You nodded. "Yeah."
"Good. I'm going to give you a warning this time, but understand that this is a one time thing. If I catch you driving without proper documents again, I won't be as lenient."
"Got it, boss." You nodded with a mock determined look on your face.
He rolled his eyes at your playful response but couldn't help a small smirk from crossing his face. "Smartass. Keep that mouth in check, kiddo."
You giggled, and he let out a small smile.
He checked his watch, noticing the time. "Now, tell me where you're headed. I'm gonna follow you to make sure you get home safe."
"Jackson Street." You answered.
He nodded. "Alright." He walked back to his vehicle and got into the driver's seat.
You sighed. Tonight was something, for sure. But funnily enough, you were sure you had developed a little crush on the handsome and kind officer. You smiled to yourself as you drive, looking in the rear view mirror to see him following. God, he was so cute.
Soon, amidst your daydreaming, you reached your house. He pulled up behind you, parking his patrol car next to yours. He shut off his engine and stepped out, walking towards your car as to get out of the driver's seat.
"That's your house, I assume?"
"No, it's my friend's."
The officer rolled his eyes at your sarcastic comment but chose to ignore it. He crossed his arms across his chest. "Very funny. You know what I meant, smartass." He looked at your house before looking back at the cheeky expression on your face. "You seem to get a kick out of riling me up."
"By the way." You wiggled your brows, a smile on your face as you stared at the handsome officer. "Don't you have a wife and kids at home?"
His expression darkened slightly at your question, not expecting the sudden change in subject. He rubbed the back of his neck, a frown crossing over his face. "What kind of question is that? And no, I don't have a wife and kids, if you must know."
"Good." You grinned.
The officer looked at you curiously, sensing that you're upto something. "And what's with the smug grin, huh? What are you playing at, kiddo?"
"Do you have a girlfriend?"
The question caught him off guard again, a look of surprise crossing his face. He glanced away for a moment, trying to hide his reaction. "What's with these personal questions all of a sudden? Is that any of your business?"
"Tell!" You almost whined.
He couldn't help but chuckle at your persistence. "Alright, alright, nosy brat. Since you're so curious, no. I do not have a girlfriend. Happy now?"
Your grin reached your ears at this point. "Then can you wait?" You asked, a hopeful gleam in your eyes.
"Wait? Wait for what?"
"For me to grow up so we can marry each other!"
The officer nearly choked on his own saliva as he heard your response. He stared at you in disbelief, clearly not expecting such a bold statement. "What the hell, kid? You can't be serious, right? You're 17, for Christ's sake! and I'm a grown ass man!"
Your face fell at his response. It seemed like he wasn't even a bit attracted by the idea, more repelled. "I'll grow up enough someday."
The officer rubbed his temple, trying to wrap his head around your logic. "And what, you think I'm going to sit around waiting for you to age like some kind of weirdo? And for what? So you can marry me at some point in distant future? That's not how it works, kid. You don't even know me!"
"Then allow me to."
He groaned and ran a hand through his hair, clearly frustrated by your stubbornness. Meanwhile, you could only ogle how his biceps bulged as he did that.
"You are something else, you know that? I'm a grown man, you're a minor. It's not appropriate for us to know each other like that. You understand that, don't you?"
"Do you have a pen?"
He looked at you quizzically, confused by your sudden change in topic. "A pen? Yeah, of course, I have a pen. Why?"
"Gimme."
He reached into his pocket, sighing as he handed it to you. "Here, take it. What do you need it for anyway?"
You took his hand, scribbling something on the palm of his hand. "Here's my number. I'll try not to change it. Call me after four years!"
The officer watched as you scribbled your number on his hand, dumbfounded by your audacity. He can't believe you're actually serious about this. "Jesus Christ, you really are dead set on this marriage idea, aren't you? And what makes you think I'll even be single by then?"
You blinked up at him. "I'd be sad if you're not single then."
He chuckled dryly. "You'd be sad, huh? What if I do find myself in a relationship by then? What would you do then, hm?"
You pouted. "I'll have to let you go."
He shook his head and sighed, torn between amusement and annoyance at your determination. "I don't know whether to be impressed or concerned by your dedication. Just how much are you willing to wait for a guy you don't even know?"
"How old are you?" You changed the topic again, he noticed.
He crossed his arms across his chest. "I'm 26, why?"
"9 years is nothing."
"You say that now. This age difference is a lot. A whole generational gap." He sighed. "People move on, they grow up, they find other partners. You can't seriously tell me you're willing to put your dating life on hold for that long just for the slim possibility of us being together someday?"
You tilted your head. "I have no dating life."
The officer snorted and shook his head, his disbelief growing. "That's not the point, and you know it."
"What's your name?" You finally asked. You should know the name of your future hubby atleast.
The officer paused, hesitating for a moment before finally sighing in resignation. "Chan. Bang Chan. Happy now?"
"Chan." You grinned, saying his name to know how it tasted on your tongue. "Our names would sound so good together."
"Fine, let's entertain this crazy scenario for a minute. Let's say, four years from now, I'm still single and somehow remember this insanity. What then? You seriously think I'm gonna go, 'Oh, yeah! Remember that random underage brat I met on the street four years ago? Yeah! Guess I'll marry her!'"
You pouted as he remained uninterested.
He couldn't help but chuckle at your pouty face, finding your stubborn endearing despite himself. "You should really stop pouting like that. It makes it damn hard to say no to your kicked puppy face."
"Then I should pout more often!"
"You brat-"
"Officer! I'm gonna marry you one day!" You grinned cheekily, saluting him before running off to the door of your house. "Call me after four years!"
He could only watch in disbelief as you sprinted away, still reeling from your boldness. He glanced down at his hand, where your number is written in a messy handwriting. He couldn't believe he was actually entertaining any of this. But then again, you were still just a bratty kid.
