WAKE UP MAKE UP
By: Antonia Altomonte
Ā Ā Calling all make up lovers! This one is for you. 96.9 Radio Humber understands the struggling college student life from the money issues, the stressful days and sleepless nights we feel you. No matter what program youāre in or school you go to we know itās hard to make time for yourself as a student with early mornings, late nights and crazy assignments.
Ā Ā Maintaining your appearance can also be hard when youāre exhausted as it is and have 8am classes all week long (Like me) to deal with. When that alarm goes off at 6am the last thing on your mind is to beat your face with makeup. This is coming from a girl who use to never leave the house without make up on, itās funny how things change.
Ā Ā In this blog Iām going to be showing you some fast easy products that are great for when youāre pressed for time or simply just too exhausted to care. All the products I will be mentioning are all student pocket friendly their cheap and efficient and your wallet will thank you later. I know we all love MAC and Sephora, but these days itās easier to run to Shoppers or Walmart when that tuition is due.
Ā Ā First off, I highly recommend using ELF products I recently discovered elf and have been in love ever since itās dirt cheap, but their products are amazing. Elf has become recently more popular, Ā Ā Ā
Ā Ā makeup artists and beauty bloggers around the world use it and recommend it. My best friend that is a makeup artist at MAC introduced ELF to me.
(from the brushes to the makeup their products are great the cupboards are always bare people love their stuff!)
http://www.elfcosmetics.com/
Ā Ā One of my favorite every day looks is very simple. Give yourself time to try it the first time around, but the more you do the look the faster you can pull it together.
Step 1: Everyoneās skin is different, but use your favorite face wash (I use St. Ives apricot scrub) and then after you wash your face find a good face moisturiser for your skin. I prefer Clinique Dramatically different, but itās really what works for your skin type.
Step 2: Next prime your face with ELF illuminating face primer or one of your choice. This helps makeup sit on the face smoothly with no lines and creases and it helps makeup last longer.
Step 3: Liquid or mouse Foundation will get rid of all those imperfections make sure to find one that matches you skin tone as well as feels/looks good on your face then with a blending sponge blend it all over.
Set the foundation with a pressed or loose powder. I have been using cover girl translucent loose powder in the medium shade since I was 16 itās a staple make up item for me. It gives me flawless coverage and I can put it over any foundation I wear. Iāve tried many others, but this product will always be my day one.
Next is bronzer or blush depending on what you prefer add a little to the checks and highlights of your face for a touch of colour. (You can also add a bit of highlighter if you wish)
Step 4: THE EYE BROWS! If you already have beautiful natural brows your lucky. It can be tricky finding the right brow products sometimes. I use a dark brown eye shadow (itās cheap) or dip brow pomade by Anastasia. I find I like using an eye shadow better. Use a brow angle brush with the comb on the end. (I love the ELF brow brush).
Tip: With a highlighter or Champaign colour eye shadow highlight your brow bone after your eye brows are complete.
Step 5: Curl your eyes lashes then Mascara them for extra volume try essence lash volumizing powder. (Brush, it through your lashes after your first coat of mascara after the powder is on apply another coat of mascara until your desired look). The powder gives your lashes a longer, fuller touch.
Step 6: ALL DONE!! For your lips, itās up to you if your feeling bold do any colour your heart desires it will make this look stand out. For class I prefer a mauve to natural pink look. NYX is one of my favorite lip stick brands the price is great and the colours are beautiful.
Final Step: Spray your face with a setting spray to keep your look locked in all day. Elf or Wet and Wild have cheap setting sprays and they both work well NYX is also a gem.
Ā Ā ** For the dayās, you canāt even bother just wash your face use a good moisturizer and a face primer for a nice glow and wear a tinted lip balm/Chap Stick. **
(Your skin will look glowingly natural. (this is my no make up look)
Ā Ā I hope you find this blog of some use for your morning routines remember your beautiful on the outside and inside. itās not mandatory to wear make up everyday to class whatās important is to feel comfortable and confident in your own skin. Wear make up when you feel like it or donāt at all!Ā

So this is my last blog assignment before we go on Christmas break which I think itās so crazy this semester is done it was a good one though. This week has been easy but for most people that are taking different courses I bet it has been hectic, but hey thatās why you should of took radio LOL. The only written exam we have to do is on Friday for our news class and that is it this week we barely had classes STRESS FREE. Tomorrow I have 2 classes I know we wont be doing anything crazy though so it will be all good. OH and on Monday my trip to Mexico has been booked Puerto Vallarta Ā here I come! I know I talked about going on a vacation in one of my blogs, but now itās legit I cannot wait I leave January 1st. I canāt wait to be a beach bum for a week. I canāt wait to start the Holidays itās much needed Iām also excited to come back for second semester as well I know itās going to be really intense. As Iām writing this blog Iām trying to contact lime crime a popular site I order $75 worth of lipstick that is missing and literally no one has a phone number to contact itās all just email contact and Iām F***ing pissed. ANYWAYS I think 2016 will be a good year I have good feelings about it there is a lot to come. I also might go to Las Vegas or Montreal for my Birthday so Iām looking forward to that. I have so much to do over this break I hope I can enjoy it. I really need to spend time with my family over the holiday because we all live in the same house, but we never see each other our schedules always clash so thatās definitely a must do over the break. I will also make that a new years resolution to spend time with my family more.

For blog 5 I amĀ going to talk about how I'm looking forward to Christmas break that's coming up for usĀ we get 4 weeks off and I am in serious need of it. I'm still going to be working over the break unfortunately, but it will be way easier just working instead of working and going to school at the same time it's tough. I love being here at Humber, but it's very over whelming for me when I have to rush to work right after class. Early mornings andĀ late nights suck. I'm excited to see what my marks are going to be at the end of this semester I have been really dedicated to school since I started. I'm going to Mexico for January 1st for a week so I'm really excited about that I'm in desperate need of a vacation, and at least I won't have to plan anythingĀ for new years eve because I'll be leaving.Ā I plan to have a lot of funĀ thisĀ Christmas break a lot of partying that's for sure I haven't been partying to much since school started. I really can't wait to be able to sleep in I can't remember the last time I was able to sleep in until 11 or 12. I know that this hustle now with work and school will soon lead to success so I'll do anything it takes to succeed. I'm excited for Christmas as well to spend time with family and friends who I have been neglecting because I'm so busy with my own life right now. MERRY CHRISTMAS RADIO HUMBER SEE YOU IN THE NEW YEAR. xoxo

For my 4th blog post I am going to write about what I did last Friday. I went to see Mavado in concert live at Sound Academy in Toronto I had a great time good music and good vibes. I legit have been waiting for that concert for years! so I had to go. I even took work off for it! Donāt tell. Mavado is his stage name but his real name is David Brooks he is a reggae/Dancehall artist from Kingston, Jamaica. His concert was a big deal deal here in Toronto for all the reggae music lovers because he hasnāt been here in over 5 years. It was a great reunion for everyone the concert was HYPE. Mavado even said it him self āit has been 5 long years and heās glad hes backā. Mavado will be here all week performing all around in Ontario. He is also celebrating his Birthday December 6th at Luxy Night club in Vaughn. Itās making it really tempting for me because Iām thinking of seeing him one last time AGAIN. Heās so close in my area it would be a shame if I didnāt go. Iām a big fan of the Gully God. I honestly Donāt know how I even started listening to him, But Iām a day one fan. Mavado has gotten to be known world wide because of his talent and collaborating with American artists was defiantly a smart move. Writing my blog about him has made me come to my final decision I AM Definitely GOING TO THE 2ND MAVADO CONCERT NOW THIS SUNDAY!. Supper excited :). Mavado is one of my favorite reggae/dancehall artists Iām more of a fan of GANGSTA Rap, Hip Hop and R&B, But Mavado kills it. Iām a huge music lover and music groupy and that is one of the reasons I want to get into Radio. If you never heard any of his music you should check him out on youtube.Ā

For Blog 3 Iām choosing to write about traveling. Traveling is one of my passions and I can say itās literally what I live for, It keeps me going. The exciting and anxious feeling of picking the destination to reach is the best! Then when itās chosen and paid for and all you have to do next is pack and make sure you have everything together, and if your like me you definitely have to do a little bit of shopping thatās definitely one of my favorite parts. To me itās the best feeling in the world knowing soon youāll be hoping that plane to paradise and you just count down every day until your vacation finally starts. The only thing I hate about traveling is the traveling part Iām absolutely terrified of being on the plane the whole night before I go to the airport Iām wide awake scared, my anxiety starts kicking in and I start to feel sick in every possible way, but that doesnāt stop me! Soon as I get to the airport I start drinking! the party begins. Iām only 21, but I think I can say I have traveled a pretty nice amount for my age. I have traveled to Italy like a million times in fact I have been all over Italy. I have many family members that live in Italy and my dad still owns his childhood home there so I guess thatās why I go there so often I love it, and Iām probably going to go back this spring or summer of 2016. I have also been to Dominican republic which was an amazing trip. but unfortunately I got very sick my second day in I still made the best of the trip, but it really sucked even when I got back to Canada I ended up going to emergency and being on antibiotics for 2 weeks. So I havenāt returned I would like to one day maybe in the near future, but Iām just scared I donāt wanna be sick on vacation again plus I know a lot of people who went to Dominican and ended up getting really sick. I have been to Cuba 4 times and had a blast all 4 times! Itās a great get away itās affordable and most of the other tourist are Canadian as well so itās a friendly environment and crazy fun. Well I mean anywhere with an all inclusive bar is fun :). I also went to Mexico in April it was fun but to Americanized for my taste. I love culture, but I was a bit disappointed when I went to Cancun there was nothing Mexican about it. I still had a blast though. I also road trip to the states and other parts of Canada often, but I wouldn't say that itās traveling. I also plan to hit up the Caribbean this winter break not sure exactly where Iām going yet, but Iām cool with last minute travel. Once Iām finished this year of school Iām probably going to go to Jamaica to celebrate the year of hard work! in the year of 2016 Iām going to go away at least 3 times. Work Hard, Play Harder.Ā
Blog 2 Gypsy
My dadās Italian and my mom is Hungarian Gypsy and I am proud of my Gypsy blood lines. I canāt stand how people think about gypsyās and those stupid Gypsy reality shows make there reputation even worse. Gypsy is a culture. Not a beggar or con artist, and most definitely not TRASH!. They live like everyday people not in a caravan or with no home at all, but of course there are the ones that do that but thatās people in general we have rich and poor. If people really looked into the actual meaning of gypsy they would be surprised. The Gypsy culture is absolutely beautiful just like the people. The gold jewelry is absolutely stunning and the headdresses are filled with coins and jewels that represent prosperity and generosity towards others. The weddings are much like Italian weddings big, fancy and expensive. Many Gypsies are known for being very creative and artistic as in musicians, writers and dancers. we are people who live life free spirited and believe in love and freedom. Family is all that matters and without it you have nothing. Just like every culture it has amazing food, music and plenty of history it is definitely something to learn about. I really hate stereotypes about the gypsy culture it has always bothered me, but I guess it`s because I have always fell under the typical Italian girl stereotype and gypsy girl stereotype. I`m fine with it though that is who I am. As Italian washed as I am I`m in touch with my gypsy roots and will always stand by my people proud.Ā cigĆ”ny Ć©letĀ

Iām Antonia.... 21 years old Iām free spirited and love to live life to the fullest... I do whatever makes me happy and love to travel ALOT!. My dream job is to be in the radio business, but I couldnāt tell you why this idea has stuck with me for years and it grew into a passion. Now I am here making my dreams into reality and I love every moment of it and I am definitely enjoying my time at Humber College. My dream is definitely to work with music so I want to become a Music director, but my options are still opened for other radio positions. I also love to write so Iām enjoying my writing classes even though my grammar is terrible. I am also currently working for Coach part time as Iām in school so my schedule is really hectic.I am very spiritual and by that I donāt necessarily mean religion, but I am religious and think not only my own, but all religions are a beautiful thing. Iām really happy where my life is right now because itās finally at the stage where everything is slowly starting to come together day by day. A year ago I definitely wouldnāt think I would Ā be where I am right now, but thatās life I guess... and I actually really like Tumblr glad we got introduced to it.Ā
