Canadian musician Shawn Mendes (@shawnmendes) can easily pinpoint his favorite part of headlining a world tour: the fans. “Night after night, there are new amazing fans who are excited to see you perform,” says the 18-year-old. “It’s challenging to maintain that same energy you had at the beginning of the tour all the way to the end, but with fans being so supportive, I always pull through.”

After teaching himself to play guitar at age 14 by watching video tutorials, Shawn started posting videos of himself playing and singing online, and his popularity soared. Four years later, he’s on a world tour for the release of his second studio album. His love for music has stayed the same, but the size of the crowd has come a long way since Shawn was singing at home in Ontario, Canada. “The feeling of performing in front of thousands of fans, of having that many people singing along with you, is euphoric.”
