Gathering for a great cause. Edward Kondratyuk, who is suffering from a brain tumor, is going into surgery on Friday. This meet was to give this brother a chance to see some of the vehicles represented in the Northwest and to gather whatever donation people had to offer for his medical expenses. Even though we only had a few dollars to donate, they were really gracious and provided donuts and hot coffee for everyone who attended the meet. I also have a cousin who is suffering from leukemia who recently went through a bone marrow transplant and I understand the toll cancerous disease can have on family members and loved ones. Never give up the good fight and I hope you guys can find things to be grateful for in the mist of the tough times.

Work In Progress

The other day, I met my buddies Caryl and Jamie to work on Jamie's S13 he acquired recently. Nothing major, I helped Jamie with the door handle install while Caryl fabricated some mounts for the front mount intercooler that was hanging by a rope (literally). Funny story about how this 240 came about. Our good friend Michael got this 240 in a trade when some souless human being backed into his R32 GTS-T. The vehicle was unfortunately totaled and he ended up trading the totaled Skyline for this RB20 swapped S13. It originally had a silvia front but Michael decided he prefered the flip ups instead. No judgement there, well... maybe a little LOL. Regardless, no worries, our good friend Michael ended up picking up a R32 GTR and it was a happy ending. I wish I could say the same for Jamie's 240.

When it came time for Jamie to buy the 240, it wasn't in Michael's posession. I guess he had let a few friends borrow the car and it was throughly molested and they refused to return the vehicle (seriously?). Anyways, law enforcement officials were called and they promptly seized the 240 and returned it to its proper owner. The car was in running condition but it was far from being road worthy. The car didn't shift into 2nd gear, no rear bumper, dead battery, doors didn't lock, shitty idle, the differential and the axles also needed replacing. So Jamie went to town and a lot has been done to the vehicle since then. Basic tune up was a given, front mount was replaced to address the vaccum leak, and the differential and axles were also replaced. Even though its currently out of commission due to a leaky radiator, a brand new one is on the way. I'm really glad to see him making progress on this vehicle because we all know it has a lot of potential. Too many s-chassis are molested and turned into "drift sluts". Not that I have anything against properly built drift machines but that's not the only way to go about building a 240. I have respect for the original platform because one day (if not already), these will be classics among Japanese motorsports.

Also, if your friends help you with your car, take them to Diamond Knots and buy them a fucking beer. If you're not 21, then buy them some mac and cheese at least.

JCCS 2015

The 11th annual Classic Japanese Car Show, at The Queen Mary, California

Welcome to vintage motorsport heaven. Upon arrival, I really didn't know what to expect. For years now, I've heard of this "Japanese Classic Car Show" and it has been my long time mission to be a part of this exciting event. With event sponsers like Nissan, Honda, Toyota and Mazda, it was a huge turn out with lines going around the parking lot. With the 90 degree California heat bursting down the landscape, there no was escape. But with so much see, we decided a heat stroke was a small price to pay for a chance to see some of the nicest and rarest vintage Japanese motor vehicles this community had to offer. So I hope you guys enjoy the photos, it took a lot of sweating, driving and unhealthy (but delicious) eating to grab these shots.
