What started out to what I thought was going to be an hour and thirty minute hike turned into four intense hours of steep uphill hiking. ⁣ ⁣ We walked 7.5km with 918 meters of vertical gain. Halfway up we found a lot of snow and I complained all the rest of the way to the top. I grew up in an environment where healthy food habits were not taught or encouraged. This led to an almost three decade long terrible relationship with food. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The photo to the left was me in 2016, a year after I moved to Canada and not knowing a thing about how to get my health in check. I ate mostly processed food, had poor portion control, and my activity level was almost non-existent.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Fast forward to the photo on the right for 2019. I’ve taught myself how to make better food choices, as well as eat for my nutrition goals. I’ve learned how hard starting a fitness journey is but also how amazing it feels when you are active, challenged, and consistent. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Three years and going strong into this lifestyle. Lilo-an is a small sea side town in Cebu where my family used to spend our summers. A little throwback to our Portland trip a few months ago. ⁣This is a different kind of progress photo.⠀ The left photo(taken 2 years ago) shows me 10-15lbs lighter than I currently(right photo taken a few days ago) am.⠀ ⠀ ⠀ After reaching my weight loss goals two years ago, I made new goals to build muscle and get stronger.⠀ ⠀ Fast forward to now...⠀ With consistency in my weightlifting and HIIT workouts, I’ve gradually become stronger and feel better than I ever have before.
