you were in california and jamie had asked you over for dinner with trevor and jack and one of their new teammates. a rookie.
during the dinner, jamie introduced you to mason, a fellow canadian who had just been drafted by the ducks in the 2021 nhl draft.
the three of you spent the dinner tormenting the poor american.
“it was really nice meeting you mason. remember to text me whenever you want and i’ll be there,” you told the young boy, giving him a hug.
and true to the word, mason texted you whenever he needed help, especially as he moved up and down the roster.
by the time world juniors came around, you and mason were best friends on snapchat and had a sixty day streak.
you congratulated him when he was named captain and constructed a regular facetime schedule for mason to gain advice and to rant.
during on of your facetime sessions, you happened to notice a little head walking past ever so often.
“who’s behind you mase?” you asked.
mason turned around and spotted connor giving him a sheepish smile. “that’s just bedsy,” he replied, nonchalantly.
“bedsy?”
“connor bedard,”
you nodded your head in realisation. “hi connor, it’s nice to meet you,” you called to the boy.
connor popped around and said hello. the boy then started animatedly talking about how he looked up to you as an idol. the way you went against all odds and became the first women to get drafted to the nhl.
from that day onwards, whenever you spoke to mason, connor would also be in the room and chime in whenever he felt like it.
but as the competition got cancelled due to covid, you wished the boys luck and gave connor your number with the order to reach out whenever he felt like it.
and he did just that.
as soon as he got back to regina, connor spent any moment he could asking you for advice on how to cope with all the watching eyes.
he’d spoken to mason and kent as well about the advice you’d given them and decided that suffering in silence wasn’t the best option.
summer worlds
when it came to summer worlds, connor had asked if you were willing to come watch. and so you dragged nico with you to meet the bedard boy.
kent saw you first and gave you a hug before calling connor over. the young boy ran to you, lifting you up in your hug.
“hi connor,” you mused.
“hi. thank you for coming,” he whispered.
you squeezed him before stepping back. “of course! neeks and i didn’t have anything planned for this time so we thought why not,” you replied.
throughout the tournament, you spent time with the canadian team, especially connor, the boy followed you and nico to dinner sometimes and had a long standing dinner invitation for when he gets drafted.
nhl draft
connor was nervous.
everyone had hyped him up to go first overall but he saw what happened with shane.
after the draft lottery, you had called him immediately. you asked how he felt about potentially going to chicago and he answered that he was fairly uncertain.
nico had been the one to push against the hawks getting a draft pick that high. but gary bettman didn’t listen.
during the awards, connor came up to you and nico with a shaky breathe.
“i’m kind of scared to go to chicago,” he answered truthfully.
nico put a hand on his shoulder and brought him in for a small hug before handing him off to you. connor wrapped his arms around you first.
“if you want, i can come with you to rookie camp and help you get settled in, but im sure your mum will be there too,” you assured him.
upon thinking of hehe you knew in the organisation, you realised frank and kevin would be at rookie camp. so you informed connor of them and gave him a little advice “everyone’s going to be a little scared so take it and make friends. one of the toughest things for me was i never spoke to anyone during my rookie camp. jack spoke to me a bit but that was all,”
when he heard his name called, he was relieved that he was going to the nhl. he stood up and hugged his family before walking down to find you.
connor pulled you in for a hug and whispered in your ear “thank you for everything,” before walking to wear his jersey.
first game
you made a call to sid.
“y/n, i can’t tell my teammates to stop their defence and let him score,” the older man whined.
“sidney it’s hi first game and he’s nervous!” you emphasised.
sid shook his head. beside him tanger and geno were wearing enormous grins upon hearing your request.
you huffed before thinking of another plan. “well then can you at least be nice to him and let him win a face off?” you asked.
sid chuckled and turned to his two teammates “we will make sure sid let’s him win a face off,” they promised.
majority of the devils team piled in to yours and nico’s living room in order to watch the first game of the season with you.
and they all vowed not to hurt the poor boy. which brendan smith broke
Heyy!! I absolutely love your writing!! Could you please do “stop laughing” with Thomas bordeleau??
it’s been a hot minute since i’ve written for him
you weren’t a hockey fan by any means.
sure you’d heard about it growing up it never caught your fancy. that was until you met your boyfriend.
you had thomas met through a friend you made in one of your lectures. the boy, brendan, and you had clicked and he wanted to introduce you to his friend.
somewhere down the line you and thomas started dating and you’d learned very quickly not to question what your boyfriend does with his friends.
which is what brought you to your current situation.
you’d walked into the so called ‘hockey house’ to find your boyfriend wearing once of your dresses and heels. “what the heck is going on,” you spluttered.
thomas wasn’t the only one in a dress, it took you a second longer to realise that half the boys in the house were wearing their partners dresses.
your boyfriend had tried walking towards you and you had cracked up even more. you laughed even harder when he’d tripped over someone’s shoes and landed on the sofa.
“stop laughing,” he moaned as you sat down next to him.
you cooed and brushed his hair out of his eye “you make a very pretty princess,” you teased.
maybe will coming to the lake house in the summer and the hughes seeing how perfect he is for their sister
orrrr her going to a sharks game or smt?
ngl i kinda forgot about them 🫣
you ran up to your boyfriend and pulled him in for a hug. it had been a while since the two of you had seen each other in person and the hug was proof of how much you’d missed each other.
jack, quinn and luke watched from the kitchen window as will listened to you ramble about what happened at the lake house prior to his arrival.
the brothers and their friends left you and will alone as your boyfriend unpacked his things and got ready to join everyone on the boat.
“oo, let me grab some snacks!” you called heading to the kitchen. luke, dylan, alex and cole were in the kitchen when you walked in.
you greeted the boys and headed straight to the fridge to make some sandwiches. as you grabbed what you could hold, will was quick to take everything off you placing a gentle kiss on your forehead.
the boys looked at each other, a mental note to keep an eye on the smith boy.
throughout his stay at casa hughes, will went about his day as normal.
he’d wake up early, get a run in before making you breakfast. quinn and jack would be in the kitchen as the young boy greeted them, working his way around the space and having your food ready just in time for your arrival.
making you breakfast wasn’t the only thing will did. he also seemed to be the only one that managed to calm you down the best.
after a terrible round of golf and an awful awful week, your brothers had given up on trying to cheer you up. firstly, they had no idea why you were so down in the dumps. secondly, it seemed that tuning they suggested ticked you off.
it wasn’t until you had come home with your siblings to find will making popcorn with your favourite movie on tv for you to relax. you cuddled into his side and chatted animatedly as harry potter played.
the hughes brothers might not have been will’s biggest advocates at the beginning, but after seeing the pure bliss he brought their little sister, they couldn’t help but agree that he was perfect for her.
tani speaks: did i right another nico fic where he’s dating his female teammate? yes because i need a distracting and this was the only thing i could think off
it was natural for you and nico to show up at team events together considering you were roommates. what members of the team missed were the longing stares between the two of you or the way your fingers roamed each other's body.
you'd always try to cover the marks nico left on your body as the two of you enjoyed the night together. none of the guys on the team saw the small number 13 tattooed on your outer wrist, a late-night decision after dinner with your boyfriend.
when the two of you were out in public, there was no indication of your secret romance. nico would always end up in a group with timo, jonas and erik as you joined jack, dawson and now luke.
all six of them were oblivious to the way you and the captain barely contributed to the conversation at hand just to be able to resist going over to one another and ruining everything.
no one knew that you and nico would spend the night in each other's bed on the road or how the two of you would order room service, put on a good movie and call it a date just to avoid getting caught.
it was the night of your 21st birthday. the devils wags had kept you occupied the whole day getting ready for the night's festivities. before the party began, the girls had helped you get dressed in a short silver dress with a plunging neckline.
the moment you had tried the dress on, you knew nico would appreciate it. and you were right. the second nico saw you step out of the elevator.
"y/n," he mumbled the second he was able to get you alone. at that moment you felt as if it was only you and nico up on that roof. the noise of your cheering teammates and their significant others silenced as you relished in your captain's arms.
you and nico lasted two hours before you feigned being too drunk to walk and decided it was time to go home. the second nico stepped into your apartment he already made a move on taking your dress off.
he wasted no time taking you to your shared bedroom to show you just how crazy you made him feel. you told him how you bought the dress with him in mind and that made him go crazier.
over the time you and nico dated you enjoyed the sneaking around and secret touches when no one was looking. the way the two of you would go out with the team and be completely normal but the second you came home you knew you'd have trouble covering the marks the next day.
some of the wags picked up on the subtle hints that something was going on between you and nico. they watched the way nico would whisper something in your ear, causing you to blush. of course, when they asked their significant others they were oblivious to the whole ordeal.
luke was the only one who caught on.
everyone had gone out for a team dinner with the families. you were sat next to nico on one side and luke was sitting opposite the two of you.
the night was filled with wine bottle after wine bottle, but seeing as you, jack and dawson had some drinks prior to coming for dinner you were slightly tipsy.
luke noticed how you would whisper something into nico's ear and giggle as the captain kept a straight face. the young hughes boy didn't miss the way you would place a kiss on nico's neck or shoulder whenever you laid your head on him.
it was also at the dinner that luke noticed the tattoo on your outer wrist. the one so clearly meant for the man sitting next to you.
you spent the night thinking you and nico managed to keep your romance a secret from everyone.
but you were wrong.
everyone at the table watched the way you and nico interacted. the way you unconsciously kept you hand intertwined with his as you engaged in conversation with someone else. they watched the looks of love nico sent your way.
it clicked then to some of the wags.
the way you would smile when wearing a dress, you were thinking about the way nico would react to it when the two of you were out in public.
when you and nico reached your apartment that night you whispered in his ear "I only bought this dress so you could take it off,"

with the off season, came the filling of the hughes lake house.
adelaide had arrived the latest, spending time with her boyfriend after their seasons ended and before he was met with the chaos of the hughes house.
“yeah baby, i just walked into the house. well tell your sister i miss her too and i’ll see her soon. i love you,” she ended the call, dragging her bags in.
alex spotted adelaide first and ran to the girl, giving her a hug. “addy, i can’t believe you’re here! is your plus one here too or did they bail?” he asked.
adelaide shook her head. “he’s visiting his family turcs. he’ll be here in two weeks,” she hugged the other boys as they came into the house.
her brothers were the last in.
luke bound straight to her, wrapping her in his arms. quinn followed after his youngest brother, giving adelaide a side hug instead.
jack just tilted his head in acknowledgment before turning to his girlfriend.
trevor rolled his eyes at his best friend and quickly grabbed adelaide’s bag, dragging her up the stairs as she sulked behind him.
“soo … did you do it or did you chicken out?” trevor asked.
adelaide threw a sock at trevor, causing the boy to laugh in response. trevor’s laugh sounded through the house as cole opened adelaide’s room door.
“what the fuck are you cackling about?” cole asked looking at his friend.
addy gestured for the boy to come in and shut the door. cole wasted no time jumping on the girls bed next to trevor.
the hughes girl bent down to pick something up when trevor let out a whistle. cole on the other hand swore at the glimpse of her tattoo
“holy shit addy. do your brothers know about the ink on your skin?” cole asked.
his question prompted the girl to stand up and cover the area her tattoo was. she turned to face the boys and grabbed a different pair of shorts before dashing to the bathroom to change
when she returned trevor and cole were still sat on her bed in a state of shock.
"not a word to anyone. not luke, not turcs, not quinn and especially not jack. capiche." she threatened.
before matt arrived at the lake house, adelaide had opted to go get her boyfriend so that the couple could spend the drive home in silence before the lake house chaos followed.
"by the way, cole and trevor saw the tattoo," addy informed her boyfriend.
matt looked to his side and smiled "what did they have to say about it?" he asked, a slight smugness in his voice.
adelaide rolled her eyes "you continue that tone and I won't show you my new one." she teased.
when the duo arrived at the hughes lake house, it didn't take long before matt was invited onto the boat with the guys. trevor gave the couple two minutes to change into proper attire before he stormed in and dragged them out.
the boat ride was calm. matt made casual conversation with the guys around and everyone kept everything light hearted. jack ignored adelaide and matt, choosing to talk to his girlfriend and friends only.
"addy, can you grab me a soda?" alex asked. the hughes girl nodded walking to the cooler to grab the drink when an array of whistles and comments were made around the boat.
matt came up behind his girlfriend and lifted her up "your tattoo is on display," he whispered in her ear. the girls cheek reddened as she turned to look at matt.
quinn was glaring at his friends and luke had his eyes covered. jack had just scoffed and turned to his girlfriend.
"you have a tramp stamp!" quinn exclaimed. the oldest hughes was all for his sister getting tattoos but he assumed the one on her shoulder blade was the only one.
adelaide blushed, hiding her face in her boyfriends chest. the tall boy's chest rumbled as he chuckled at adelaide's reaction.
"we got matching tattoo's" matt responded, showing off the tattoo he had gotten of reiya's number on his chest. the location meant that the tattoo fell over his heart, a sign that he would always love the hughes girl.
"what if you guys get traded and need to switch numbers?" luke asked, peeling his fingers away from his face.
matt and adelaide looked at each other before looking to the latters family and friends. "well it will commemorate the numbers for the first time we met and it also happens to be the date he actually asked me out," adelaide responded.
the group of boys on the boat awed at the two. their affection towards each other was pure and real.
it was the the relationship everyone had wanted for the hughes girl to have.

“baby i’m so proud of you!” you say loudly as he jogs toward you, arms open for a hug as he meets you, picking you up off the ground and spinning you around.
“thank you, you’re just my good luck charm.” brandt replies, pressing a few short kisses to your lips.
“my first road trip with you as a king and you fucking scored.” you say both of you pulled away, his hands remaining on your waist. you’d only been together about a month and you were falling really hard and really fast.
“can you come with me on all my road trips, reign or kings?” he asks with hopefulness in his eyes.
“yes of course.” you reply as he squeezes you again.
you couldn’t believe what the night had brought him. he had his first nhl goal and a game winner. you had to treat him some way, some kind of sweet reward. and you knew just the trick.
-
you arrived back at your hotel room a while ago and got into your pajamas, fortunately enough you were able to get a room in the same hotel so he could stay with you instead of a teammate which was deemed very necessary as of right now.
“come here, i’m so proud of you my love.” you say walking up to the ginger as he sat on the edge of the bed, wrapping your arms around him.
“thank you baby.” he giggles, his arms placed on the outside of your bare thighs.
“i gotta treat my big winner don’t i?” you ask looking down at him, a confused look striking his face.
“brandt.” you reply, trying to better hint at what you were saying.
“y/n.” he says back to you. you giggle and roll your eyes, your hands finding their way to his jaw, connecting your lips gently. naturally, he laid back as you climbed over his chest, attempting to deepen the kiss. you pull away, scanning his eyes for any sense of knowing where you were going.
low and behold he did, and he was nervous. as embarrassed as he was to tell, you he did. he’s a virgin. you knew this for a while and didn’t even care. that was never a deciding factor in your relationship. you then waited for the right time to love on your boy, which you were excited to do now.
“baby i-“
“brandt i know.” you say sitting on his hips. you could feel the bulge under his pajama pants but the feeling of it turned you on.
“but-“
“no buts brandt. i’m serious about this.” you say leaning over and pecking his lips, your hand reaching through your legs palming at his steadily growing cock.
“fuck.” he sighs.
“feels good huh?” you giggle.
“i’ve had a fucking handjob y/n, i’m not a child.” he half giggles, trying to keep some kind of composure.
“oh honey, sugar, sweetheart, darling, pumpkin. i’m gonna do a whole lot more than that. i am fucking you tonight, and we are gonna enjoy every fucking moment of it.” you said just inches away from his face, his cheeks in your hands already as you smashed your lips back together.
“and don’t be nervous, i can tell you’re nervous. i don’t want to intimidate you my love.” you say pulling away and sitting on your knees between his legs, running your hand up and down his thigh.
“i know but, how will i know if im doing good?”
“i will guide you through everything, just lay there and be gorgeous. which is very easy for you.” you giggle, inching your hand closer and closer to his clothed boner. you stop to remove your shirt, leaving you in only your underwear, given the shirt was the only other thing you slept in.
brandt had never seen you like this and he was already struggling with you clothed on his lap, you were scared he might get there on his own.
“y/n.” he whined, squinting his eyes shut.
“patience baby.” you say pulling down the waist band of his pants, pulling them all the way off his legs, his cock springing free of its constraints. you took his dick into your hand sizing him up. you knew he’d be proportional to his height but this was more than you expected. but not more than you were capable of working with. you leaned over him, spitting a large glob of saliva onto his cock, your hand working it in thoroughly.
“you’re so big brandt, why have you been hiding from me?” you say smirking at him as you finally leaned over, your tongue making contact with his tip, the most sensitive part, keeping your eyes locked harshly on his. you could feel his thigh muscles tighten under your hands as you bobbed up and down, a puddle of saliva forming at the base of his cock. you pull him out of your mouth with a pop, spit webbing from the corners of your mouth.
you wiped your face clean with your arm and you climb over him, reattaching your lips to his. his hands found their way into your hair rather quickly before you pulled away.
“okay b, are you ready?” you ask genuinely and he nods.
“alright.” you say taking him back into your hand, lining him up with your entrance, running his cock through your soaked folds.
“fuck.” he sighs out nervously.
“shh you’re okay.” you reply as you sank onto him, a moan ripping from your throat in doing so. when you bottomed out on him, you stopped, picking up his hands and placing them on your ass from around your thighs.
“you don’t need to do anything, j-just keep them there.” you say as you place your hands on his abdomen, pushing yourself up and sinking back down slowly, quiet moans leaving his mouth, his hands slightly gripping on your ass. you slowly sped up your pace, bouncing up and down steadily, quiet moans and curses leaving both of your mouths. his thick, throbbing cock was hitting you in all the right places, you just knew you had to keep it down.
“fuck brandt, you feel so good.” you whine, your hips circling around, his cock hitting every inch possible.
“god y/n.” he groans, his grip on your ass growing tighter.
“fuck me on you brandt, fuck me.” you moan out, patting on his hands, a lightbulb flicking on above his head. slowly, he began to pick you up and pull you back down with his arms, eventually finding the speed that was right for him.
“oh my fucking god.” he grunts as he speeds up, the sound of your skin slapping against his increasing in volume along with your moans.
“fuck i’m gonna cum.” you moan out as your core tightened harshly around him.
“y/n, oh. shit.” he grunts as he spills his climax into you, the line in your stomach snapping at the same time, an orgasm washing over you at the same time as his. you continued bouncing slowly up and down on his cock, creating a milky mess between you as you came down from your high, a slight giggle leaving your mouth.
sadly, you pulled him out of you with a wince, already missing the feeling of the boy, you’d now decided you were madly in love with, inside of you.
“god you were so good brandt.” you say, climbing off of him and laying down by his side.
“i feel like i can’t even say anything. that felt fucking incredible pretty girl. thank you for tonight.” he says, brushing hair out of your face.
“no thank you baby, congratulations.” you smile, kissing him passionately.
“first nhl goal for my baby.” you brag as he pulls you on top of his chest.
“i love you so fucking much.” he smiles as you bend over close to his face.
“i love you so much fucking more.” you reply, your lips finding their place back on his, where they’d always fit like a puzzle piece.
“i’m so lucky i was your first.” you giggle pulling away.
“and fucking last, are you kidding me?” he replies with a sarcastic scoff.
“i’m honored.” you blush as your head finds its way under his chin.
“i’m so proud of you bub.” you say quietly.
“thank you my love.” he says pressing a sweet kiss to your head before the two of you got up to shower, cleaning up the fluids you’d left behind, spending the rest of the night together, madly in love and never turning back.

⟹ quinn and the girl at the bar
She had been talking up a storm with her friends at the bar, sipping on her drink. They were all in Michigan for the summer, Jack having invited her to the lake house for the summer. It was her first “real” time meeting Jack’s friends, they had been dating since the beginning of the season but had only met them when they played each other. Quinn and Luke, on the other hand, she had gotten to meet plenty of times, including getting to hang out with them a lot.
She was aware that Jack had a track record of bringing home girls and not only hadn’t they lasted but his brothers didn’t like them. She was determined to be different. She loved his brothers; they were so nice and always made her feel welcome, but there was a distant thought in her mind that told her they were just doing it to make Jack happy. And if that was true, she wanted to change it.
Jack, Cole, Trevor, and some of the other guys were further away from them, playing darts and talking a little bit too loud. She had looked at them and noticed the absence of Quinn, looking around for him as a reaction. She found him near the end of the bar, still a little ways from her. He was talking with a girl and looked extremely uncomfortable. She had placed her hand on his arm and Quinn moved back a little but the girl didn’t stop her pursuit.
She excused herself from her friends and made her way over there with two drinks in her hand, one for her and liquid courage and the other for Quinn. When she reached him, she linked arms with him and startled him, “Hi babe. I got you another drink, I’ve been looking everywhere for you silly.”
Quinn’s eyes widened, almost popping out of his head. She looked up at him and gave him a look that told him to go along with it, “Oh thank you.”
She smiled at him and allowed him to take the drink from her hand. She unlinked their arms and wrapped her now free right arm around his torso, leaning into his side. The three stood in an awkward silence, no one really knowing where to go from there. Y/n looked at Katie with a grin that didn’t reach her eyes, “So who’s this?”
Quinn instinctively put an arm around her shoulders, welcoming the embrace. He looked at the girl who had approached him and gestured, “Oh this is uh-”
“Katie and you are?”
“I’m Quinn’s girlfriend.” She smiled a fake smile, hoping that her confidence wouldn’t wear off soon. The girl looked between y/n and Quinn with a shocked expression, “Oh. I didn’t know he had one.”
“Neither did I,” Quinn mumbled under his breath as he lifted his arm to take a sip of his beer.
Y/n jabbed her elbow into his side, releasing it from its previous spot. The boy groaned a little but covered it with a cough, “Yep we’ve been dating for almost a year now, haven’t we baby?”
Quinn nodded, looking embarrassed by the nickname, “Yep!”
“Honestly, I thought you guys were siblings.”
“Me calling him babe didn’t give that away?” She quirked an eyebrow, hoping she would get the hint to leave.
Her efforts were in vain as Katie continued, “I didn’t even hear you say it.” She looked her up and down, “Surprised he’s even dating you.”
Both Y/n and Quinn’s eyes widened at the comment, both thinking entirely different thoughts. Y/n’s eyes settled into a glare, “What the fuck did you say?”
“You heard me.”
Y/n looked as if she was about to punch the girl and was close to as well. However the whole goal of her coming over here was to save Quinn from being uncomfortable, not to get kicked out of the bar, “And I’m surprised you’re not shoving a dick down your throat right now, but I guess we’re all in for surprises tonight, aren’t we?”
Quinn spit out his drink all over the girl, covering up his laugh with a cough. Katie was left with a shocked expression all over her face, anger slowly covering it. Once Quinn gained control of himself he looked down at y/n, “Easy tiger.”
“I think you should go.”
Katie gave the girl a little glare before leaving and as soon as she was out of sight for the both of them, Quinn and y/n locked eyes with each other and started laughing, “It wasn’t even a good comeback, I was just surprised you swore.”
She nodded, “Me too.”
Quinn looked down at his shoes, “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.”

⟹ luke and the late night craving
She had told herself multiple times, one more chapter, but that never went well with anyone. One more chapter meant till she got bored or until she was done with the book. She sat on the couch in the apartment’s living room, a blanket around her as she read. She sat with her legs crossed underneath her, music playing through her earbuds as she flipped page after page.
She heard a door open but she paid no mind to it, her eyes moved across the words. Luke stepped out of his room and walked down the hallway to the kitchen. He stopped when he saw his brother’s girlfriend sitting there, but once he saw her reading he just shrugged and continued his way into the kitchen. He rummaged through the fridge, desperately trying to find something to eat.
When she heard the clinking, she looked up and smiled when she saw Luke. She shook her head and went back to reading. She only got a few pages in when she heard Luke groan. He looked over at her and asked, “Do you want to go get food with me?”
Her stomach growled as soon as he said that, “Sure. Let me go grab a jacket.”
She went back into her and Jack’s room, grabbing one of his sweatshirts. She tensed when she heard Jack groan and turn over but once she heard his slight snore she ran out and giggled. Luke looked at her confused, “What?”
“Jack’s snoring.”
Luke shook his head and opened the door for her, “Where are we going?”
“I don’t care whenever you want to go.”
The two drove in a comfortable silence, only talking when they saw something outside. When Luke pulled up to the drive-thru he looked at, “What do you want?”
She shrugged, she had always been indecisive. That was one of the things she loved about Jack, he always knew what to get her when she didn’t know. Surprisingly, Luke had taken that talent under his wing too. After living with her for 6 months and knowing her for a little over a year and a half, he’s been able to figure out what she likes when she asks for it. Some say it’s weird, but he always shrugged it off.
“Chicken nuggets?” She nodded, that did sound really good.
When he pulled away she looked at him curiously, “How’s you know what I wanted?”
He shrugged, “Dunno. Just sort of picked it up I guess.”
“Picked it up?”
“Yeah, you always get the same thing no matter where we go and no matter how many times you sit and say that you’re going to try something new.”
Y/n wasn’t sure if she should be embarrassed or touched by the fact that he remembered. She gave him an awkward smile and turned her attention to the window, watching the scenery as they drove by. Once they got back to the apartment, the two sat across from each other at the bar and talked about embarrassing things from Jack’s childhood.
Around 20 minutes after they got home, Jack came walking out of the bedroom, rubbing his eyes as he stopped a few feet away from them. It took Luke and y/n a few minutes to notice but when they did, Jack’s eyes were more awake and he was staring at them in confusion, “What is going on here?”
“Luke and I went to get McDonalds.”
He raised an eyebrow, “At midnight?”
Luke shrugged and took another bite of his burger, “Yeah.”
Jack walked over to his girlfriend and stood behind her, wrapping his around her before resting his chin on her head, “Why were you even awake?”
“I was reading and then he asked me if I wanted to go and I said sure. And now we’re here. I would’ve asked if you wanted something but you were too busy snoring.”
“I do not snore!”
Y/n looked across to Luke and they both started giggling before continuing to eat, “I don’t!”

⟹ quinn, luke, and the game night
It was only typical that Jack would ditch his girlfriend for his friends, causing y/n to sit on the couch in the living room watching as her boyfriend played Monopoly waiting for Quinn and Luke to come down. Game night had slowly become a tradition at the Lake House, it would happen once a week, typically on a Friday or Saturday night when no one had any ideas of what else to do. And now that Cole had finally gotten there, they could have teams of three.
It would be y/n’s second game night, the first time it happened it was only Jack and his brothers but now with the addition of Trevor and Cole, Jack wasted no time in switching teams. When she found this out she had looked at him with wide eyes and complained about how he was leaving her alone. To which he replied with a simple, “You know Luke and Quinn, you’ll be fine.”
Now she just had to watch them scream at each other about stealing money and properties until the other two decided they wanted to join them. It took Quinn 10 minutes and Luke another 5 after that to walk into the living room and the three other boys packed up Monopoly and looked at the other three seriously, “What game do you guys want to play?”
Y/n moved to sit on the ground and Quinn and Luke sat beside her shrugging, “I don’t care.”
Trevor threw his head back in annoyance, “Oh come on. Making us do all the work.”
They ended up playing Trivia Pursuit and Jack would soon realize his mistake in letting his girlfriend play with his brothers. Before the game had even started, Jack, Trevor, and Cole were already arguing and y/n looked between the two brothers, “Let me answer the questions. I’ve never lost this game.”
Quinn looked at her with curiosity in his eyes, “Really?”
“Yeah, my family and I used to play it when I was growing up so I kind of have most of the questions memorized or I probably have read it in an article somewhere once.”
The two went along with her, letting her answer the questions every time as the other three came up with a very strict order to stick with. In the first round, y/n landed on Arts and Literature and Jack picked up the card, “What is the name of the protagonist detective in Agatha Christie’s most famous book series?”
“Oh easy, Hercule Poirot.”
“Nerd.”
“Shut up.”
They had also gotten their question right before it was her turn again, this time landing on Geography, “What U.S. state is home to Acadia National Park?”
Y/n didn’t even bat an eye at them from drinking her water, “Maine.”
“And why do you know that?” Trevor asked, placing the card in the discard pile, “I don’t know. National Parks are cool.”
A few rounds went bye and not only had y/n gotten all of her questions right but she had also yet to land on a sports question. Trevor and co. started to think that her streak would end on her tenth turn, which would be the one to win it and she ended on orange which happened to be the Sports and Leisure category. The three of them cheered and the other three rolled their eyes, urging Jack to read the question, “Look, babe, I love you but there is no way you’re getting this right.”
“Shut up and read the question, Hughes.”
“What sport was featured on the first curved U.S. coin in 2014?”
She waited a few moments before bursting out laughing, “That’s the question? Jeez, did you guys buy the easy version of this game? It’s baseball you morons.”
Cole, Jack, and Trevor stared at her in disbelief, completely shocked that they had been swept in the game. Quinn and Luke cheered, sharing high fives with each other and y/n. They quickly shook out of it though, saying that they needed to play more games to even the score.
However, the next five games they played, Codenames, Family Feud, Jeopardy, Scrabble, Pictionary, and Wavelength, they lost. Somehow they had ended up losing all five of the games to the other three, completely oblivious to y/n’s game-night skills. As soon as they finished Pictionary and won, Jack whined, “I wanna be on y/n’s team, she is my girlfriend after all.”
“Yeah, the girlfriend you abandoned for your friends. I don’t know, Jacky… I think the three of us make a great team.”
Quinn and Luke nodded from beside her, standing as the three of them gave each other hugs and high-fives. Jack only whined more and complained to his friends before they all decided they wanted to get some pizza for dinner.
Y/n sat next to Jack, leaning her head on his shoulder as they ate their food. Cole looked over at her, “How are you so good at board games?’
“My family used to have game nights and I was always competitive with my siblings so I guess I just learned how to play better. Also, I was definitely a nerd growing up so I had a lot of those Trivial Pursuit questions memorized.”
“Like I said, nerd.”
“You’re dating this nerd.”
He wrapped his arm around her before kissing her head, “And I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
“So, Quinn, Luke, we’re teaming up again next time right?” The two of them nodded but Jack shook his head, “Maybe you should sit out next time, make it easier for us.”
She looked at his brothers before shaking her head, “Nah.”

⟹ y/n and the work banquet
She knew she shouldn’t be mad at her family, it wasn’t their fault that their flight got delayed but she couldn’t help it. It was a huge thing for her work and it was important to her that they would be there. She had almost cried when she got the call from her mom. Looking around, she quickly found a secluded area where she could make a phone call to her boyfriend. It was the last thing she wanted to do, interrupt his time with his family, but she was honestly too upset to care at that point.
She sniffled as she waited for him to pick up the phone and when it went to voicemail she felt a tear fall down her cheek. Here she was at one of the most important things in her career so far and she had no one to be there to support her. She tried one more time and luckily he answered, “Hey baby, what’s up? Why aren’t you-”
“They couldn’t make it.”
Jack’s heart broke at the sound of her voice and her sniffling, “What?”
“Their flight got delayed and the earliest they were going to be able to get here was tomorrow, so I just told them to go back home, it’s no use for them to come here after it happened.”
He frowned, “Do you want me to go?”
“No, it’s okay. You should stay with your parents and brothers, you haven’t seen them in a while.”
“But I don’t want you there alone. I know how important this was to you, sweetheart.”
She sniffled once more and shook her head, “It’s okay, I promise. It’s only a couple more hours, I can handle it. Thank you, though. I um- I should go. I love you.”
And before he got the chance to say it back to her, he heard her hang up and sighed. He quickly rushed back over to the table his parents and his brothers were sitting at, grabbing his keys and jacket, “I’m sorry guys but y/n’s family’s flight got delayed and she’s all alone at her work thing so I need to-”
Ellen shook her head and smiled at him, “It’s okay, Jack. She needs you. We’ll be okay.”
He nodded at his mom before walking away. He only got a few steps away before he turned on his heel and walked back over, “Would you guys come, actually?”
『••✎••』
Jack and his family walked into the venue twenty minutes later, all clad in their dress outfits since they had planned on going to dinner. None of them minded though, y/n was basically family at this point, and it was only right for them to go. When they finally found her she was talking to a few people, possible clients or people who were interested in her job and Jack immediately knew the smile plastered on her face was fake.
They waited until she was done talking, watching as she walked to a bench sadly and sat down, running a hand through her hair. Jack told his family to stay put as he walked over to her, standing right by her feet, “Hey pretty girl.”
Her head immediately snapped up and smiled when she saw who it was, “Jack! I told you you didn’t have to-”
He hugged her as she stood up, “I know but I felt really bad, you sounded so upset and I just wanted to make you feel better.”
She pulled away to look at him, “Well you did, thank you.”
“I also sort of brought some other people,” he looked behind him, and she saw Ellen, Jim, Quinn, and Luke standing there waving at her.
“Oh, you guys…” Jack gave her a grin, “Well if you couldn’t get your family, you’ll get my family.”
“Have I ever told you how much I love you?”
“Yes, but I wouldn’t mind hearing it again.”
She kissed his cheek, “I love you, so much.”
“I love you too, sweetheart.”
She walked around the venue, explaining a bunch of different things to them and every time they would stop, Jack would just stand and stare at her with a wide grin on his face. No one could tell if everyone else was smiling at y/n as talked passionately about her work or at Jack as he just stared at her in adoration.
When everything was done, she looked at Jack’s family, “Thank you guys for coming. It means a lot and you really didn’t have to.”
They all shook their heads, “We were happy too, you’re a part of our family at this point.”
Her eyes glazed over as looked at them, “Really?”
Ellen brought her into a hug, “Of course, honey.” She lowered her voice to whisper in her ear, “You’re the only one who’s kept Jack sane.”
Y/n laughed a little as she pulled away, “Trust me it’s a hassle at times.” She looked back at him as he now talked to his dad and brothers, “But he’s worth it.”
“I’ve never met two people as perfect for each other as you two. He loves you, a lot.”
“I love him a lot.”
A few minutes passed and y/n excused herself to go say goodbye to her boss. When she came back, she walked alongside Jack, talking to him before Luke blurted out, “I’m hungry.”
She giggled, “‘Course you are Lukey.”
“What? Can we stop at McDonalds?”
“Yes.”
“No.”
“I call going home with y/n!”
“What no fair, I want my girlfriend.”
“Sorry Jack, Luke called dibs.” She patted his chest before walking over to Luke, and continuing out of the building.
“I’ll go with them too.”
“Oh great, my brothers abandoned me for my girlfriend.”
“You abandoned me on game night, payback.”
He threw his hands up in the air, “I can’t win.”
“So Quinny, think they’ll be any girls hitting on you at McDonalds?”
“I hope not.”
“Well if you need, your fake girlfriend is right here.”
“His what?’ Jack stopped in his tracks looking between his older brother and his girlfriend.
“I pretended to be his girlfriend one time when we were at a bar. It was fun, wasn’t it babe?” Quinn just nodded, trying not to laugh as he and Luke ran to her car, desperate to get away from the couple. Ellen and Jim had left once the boys said they were going to ride with y/n.
“Oh come on Jacky, you know you’re my favorite.”
“Do I?”
She leaned into his side, “You do. Because otherwise, I wouldn’t have this ring in my pocket.” She stuck her hand into her pocket before pulling out a ring and placing it on her finger.
He smiled and kissed her head, “When do you think we should tell them?”
She shrugged, “We’ll see how long it takes them. So when we send out our wedding invites.”
