I will be playing my audio piece using this CD player/ radio as it replicates something you would hear a radio interview on.
I displayed the photograaps I had taken previously as documentation of the animals as I felt they worked very well and photography work on their own because of angles and decisions made while taking them. These were hung ready for hand in.
I put ferrets on these white foam boards to dry after creating my video and they dried to it. After considering taking them off to reattach to the paint covered board or to hang on the wall on their own I decided they worked better on the board hanging like a painting on canvas as they then become an object blending in with the environment just like the intended use of taxidermy animals. I like the idea of taking away the life of an animal to make them an object so decided I would leave them dried to the board.
This is my finished dog house one I had fitted the lighting inside. I also added finishing touches to the outside such as neatening up the roof with strips of wood to cover the edges of the felting and adding a wooden finishing strip on the ridge of the roof. with diamonds on the end of the front and back to complete the look and make it look professional.
(via https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPWjt-IH9AY) the final audio I used in the video was one that was repeated throughout when the filming I did of the ferrets with flashing light occurred.
(via https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVY1-v97Mic) At the end of the video when the animals are being stripped of their fur I wanted something a little bit more scary like an evil laugh and came across this. It seemed like the perfect end to a very random video.
(via https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vifVEg7NepI) I chose to use the coconut song sung by zazu in The Lion King. This is a very happy bouncy and happy song that has been sung in a not so happy situation to seemed perfect for the scene where the minks are being chucked into a gas chamber.
(via https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JM7e5tsYOi8) on the scene with the conveyer-belt of lifeless bodies I decided to use the song applebottom jeans. It talks about wearing boots with fur and when it said ‘She hit the floor’, one mink fell off the conveyer-belt and hit the floor which seemed to fit nicely
(via https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2NgsJrrAyM) Sia’s ‘Alive’ popped into my mind as a celebratory song about being alive. I again found this to be a comical element I could use in the scene where the animals are being transported to their death.
(via https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=enu-qR0H_uk) I searched for ages to find a narration from David Attenborough to use in my video but couldn’t find one which quite fit. After lots of searching I can across this narration of whats happening in the video of Adele’s ‘Hello’. It worked very well over the top of part of my footage that used lighting in an unusual way.
(via https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pI9wGJTgcDk) This video provided me with all 3 of the voiceover parts I used in the video which provided me with the comical element I wanted
(via https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GaRZ8xb10c8) This was were I found the audio I used for the catwalk scenes in the video that is repeated throughout.
(via https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_FwwTXUqTc) After making various adjustments to the audio piece, This is the final, completed movie I have made. I took into consideration the idea of confusing the viewer by using contradictory and comical audio alongside the very serious documentary style video.
I wanted to make the dog house more personal by adding the finishing touches such as a sign above the door that read ‘Poppy’s Room, Please Come In’ I created this design using Adobe Illustrator. I found 2 fonts I liked on Dafont.co.uk and downloaded them. I then placed them how I wanted and the put a box around the design with two holes to be cut out. I then took the design down the the technician to make any adjustments I needed for it to be cut out using the lazer cutter. Once these adjustments had been made I selected for the hole and square to be cut out and for the outline of the text to be engrave. This is the result.
Before I put the roof back on I took pictures of the final parts of the inside of the house. I added a dart board with a picture of a cat on it after thinking about the relationship my dog and cat used to have with eachother. I wanted to make the dog house as much of her personality in a teenage girls body as I possibly could and was happy with the result of the inside
I created the dream like state on the roof after I had taken the roof off to get closer to it. I painted the greyhound on the roof running across clouds as I had planned. I found it very hard to paint in acrylic on this surface as it was very hard and rough. I chose acrylic because it would dry quickly and I would be able to add layers to the painting. I also felt the scale I had painted was very difficult to paint in such detail on the rough surface. If I was to paint this again I would first sand down the surface to create a softer canvas. I also felt one side of the clouds turned out better than they did on the other side of the roof.
(via https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pP4lWzlO894) Clockwork orange had a scene in the film which many viewers would find very gruesome and upsetting. Because throughout the scene the song ‘Singing in the rain’ was being sung, it shifted the overall mood of the scene to created a slightly amusing and happy scene even though it is something that is anything but. The contradictory element of this has made me think about how I might like the contradict the imagery of my video with something that makes a serious matter more comical, and then make the viewer feel bad for finding the footage amusing
