3 things that have drastically changed since having Ava (sleep won’t be part of the list since we ALL know about it already): 1). My relationship with my husband- The moment I got home from the hospital til maybe a good two months after that I have had the “baby blues”. Something most, if not all, moms go through. Pair it up with the fact I had a very traumatising labour plus Ava being born with erbs palsy (don’t worry, she’s fully recovered 🥳) I was a wreck! For the longest time I thought I had post natal depression and it really effed up my mental health. I had no life in me. I was physically, emotionally and mentally drained. Keeping it together because I had a tiny human who depended on me 24/7. I was also nothing short of being such a pain in the butt, complaining about it all. But through all that, someone held it together FOR ME. Someone took on the responsibility of being a dad of two when I was only pregnant with one. Someone hugged me through my silent tantrums and wiped my tears everyday. Someone loved me despite me being such a pain in the butt til I overcame the baby blues and also til I felt more like myself again. And that someone is my husband. 💕 2). The urge to fly again- Ever since I could remember all I ever wanted to be was a cabin crew. I wanted to see the world. Collect magnets from places I’ve been. Explore and get lost. Being on to go ALL THE TIME. Taste local cuisines and the one weird thing I do when I go to new places is go grocery shopping cause every supermarket around the world is so different and it gets me excited all the time!!! 🤣🤪 Now, I just want to be “MAMA”. Don’t get me wrong, travelling will always be in my blood. And I know one day Ava will join us in our adventures too. But all I want right now is to be “MAMA”. I have no urge to go places if Ava and Gaëtan aren’t with me. I want to be still. I want to have my baby with me at all times. I want to watch her grow. I want to savour every milli second I have with her cause she will never be this little ever again. Maternity leave ain’t over for a few more months and so I’ll take this time to just be “MAMA”. Easily the most challenging yet rewarding thing I had to endure. Delivering her into the world wasn’t at all easy! Our whole birth plan flew out the window! But we are beyond blessed to now have her with us, safe and sound. She is just absolute perfection!
