Max is both panting and shaking by the time he even gets close to Nico’s body.

In his rush he was only able to get his jacket and shoes back on as well as grab a first aid kit if needed. He did thankfully still have his underwear on in the tub.

He’s cold and still hungry and extremely worried. His breathing heavy from trying it make it through the woods as well as panic.

He doesn’t care how much attention his yelling might lead to. He looks around desperately.

It's like the woods are trying to eat Nico alive, and they don't appreciate Max coming in to save him. Branches tug and pull at Max's hair and skin, trying to keep him away.

Roots are starting to cover Nico. He doesn't hear Max calling to him, he's too deep in his dream of the girl with the auburn hair. Max sees Nico's crutches before he sees his unconscious body.

There's blood on his face from hitting his head on a root.

Motherfuckers if you don’t give me my boyfriend back I will chop your assses down like in the fucking Lorax. Speak for the trees more like speak to these nuts.

Max grabs Nico’s crutches then drops down beside him and starts trying to both get Nico up and out of the roots. He’ll fight a forest for his boyfriend, don’t test him.

The roots reluctantly allow themselves to be pulled off of Nico, but he doesn't wake up. The girl with the auburn hair may have vengeance deep in her still heart, but she doesn't want to die again.

Nico groans as he's moved around, his closed eyes fluttering, but never fully opening. Leaves stick to his face with the partially dried blood, and one leaf is actually holding the wound closed somewhat.

While Max does have a med kit, he’s never been good at patching up wounds. Just making them. Althea was always better at taking care of wounds. He examines what he can and sets his head against Nico’s chest to feel his heatbeat. Sighing in relief when he hears it. He looks at the little leaf

Thank ya little man, and the trees for ya know giving him back. I’ll spread around… what do trees like… I don’t know compost? Soil? Could give ya some meat?

It might be dumb to say thank you to a leaf but whatever, Max never claimed to be smart anyways. Still Max shifts Nico into his arms and picks him up, very awkwardly trying to carry the crutches as well as he begins to walk back. Trying to be careful of the ground.

If you do trip me while I’m carrying him then I will piss on you though.

Again talking to the trees.

The trees allow Max to pass, pushing their roots down so he doesn't trip. Nobody likes being pissed on. Well. That may not be true, but they don't like to feed on it.

Nico shifts so his face is buried into Max's letterman a little bit. He breathes in deeply, and his dream is changing. The girl in his dream looks directly at Nico, and she says that he's not as bad as the rest of his kin. She asks for bones, Nico will be able to find her again. She complains about the lack of calcium in the soil. Nico doesn't know what she's talking about, but he feels safer. Warmer. The girl doesn't apologize, but she's no longer being hostile. They end up talking about Max. The girl talks about her own boyfriend, she doesn't remember her own name, but she remembers her love.

Max reaches the cabin in less time than he thought it would take. Something he appreciates and nods thanks to the woods for. He struggles to get inside while still carrying Nico and his crutches but manages. He then sets Nico onto the pull out and sets the crutches aside. He kneels by Nico. Doing his best to check him over and help any wound he finds. Then he curls up at Nico’s side and hugs him close.

The girl with the auburn hair says her goodbyes, apologizing for the awful headache Nico will surely have. Nico's a bit confused, that is until his head feels like it's being split open.

Nico groans loudly, his slack body going tense. He hadn't rested, he actually ached worse than before. His knees and hips felt like they were out to kill him, his back felt crushed under the weight of the sky, his shoulders felt like a hell of their own, too. He barely remembers anything past buying the burgers, but he can pick up enough hints to be able to tell he fell. His head feels awful. Plain awful.

Nico tries to relax, but he hurts. He whimpers as he shifts, trying to get closer to the warmth against him.

Max shoots up when he sees Nick awake.

Nico!

His voice is a little louder then he meant it to be but filled with so much relief. He winced at the volume, making his voice a lot softer.

Nico.

He lays back down and curls up against him, trying to be careful of any injuries as he hugs him, burying his face against him.

Fuck- Nico- Nic- thank god.

Nico trues to muffle his whimper as he's jostled, but he pushes himself into a sitting position. He huffs, ignoring his pain just to hug Max.

H-hey.... babe. Is it bad to say I have no idea how I got here? I was... at Wendy's? Feels like I hit my head.... again. And maybe the rest of my body... jesus.

He whines as he shifts his hips, his breathing shaking with the pain of moving. He leans in close to Max, pressing kisses against his face.

Max melts against him some.

I've a lot of head trauma over the years, my noggin is foggier than a bathroom mirror. Just because I know the woods well doesn't mean they like me.

Max gets off the pull out and goes and finds some painkillers and water. Max takes a glance at himself there are a few scraps on him from the trees and he’s a bit dirt. Looking closer he can see the edges of where his mouth ripped. He lightly touches them. They don’t hurt as much as he thought they would honestly. He hums and ignores it for now.

After finding the painkiller and grabbing some water for Nico he goes back to the pull out and hands them over. He kicks off his shoes before getting back into the bed.

Nico takes the pill dry, and flushes a little as the way his stomach growls. He chugs the water, drinking the whole thing without even breathing.He leans against Max, his stomach a little quieter, but still growling.

I... I had bought food, on the way up. I haven't eaten since... Sunday? Monday, maybe? | have no idea what day it is... I doubt the burgers survived the fall better than I did.

He leans into Max again, holding him close. His stomach tenses, like it's angry about only being given water. He flushes a little redder in embarrassment, trying to keep a straight face.

Oh! Uhhh I honestly think the food got lost to the elements on this one.

I could make you something though! What do you want?

I like meat... You can cook? Make sure my ma knows that when you meet her. And... maybe when you meet my dad too? I dunno, he likes to eat. Have you ever had deer? I gutted a deer once. Gut? Gutted? Don't tell my dad you can't eat pig, just give it to me. I'm talking a lot. I'm learning how to cook, but I can bake a lot gooder... Better.

Nico rubs at his head wound, grimacing as he accidentally reopens it. He turns the blood away from where Max might see, wiping the blood on his hand off onto his shirt. With all the blood already staining his white shirt, it's pretty unnoticeable.

Max hums. Too focused on finishing Nico’s meal to notice what’s happening with him.

Red enough that it could walk away from me, but hot. I need something hot. I'm cold. Did you know that if you lose more than 40% of your blood, you die? I'm so cold. I need my insides warm. I can feel scratches from woods animals. Forest animals. I feel dizzy. I also don't remember... my birthday? Or what day today is. Or what day... yesterday was. Bonk may have broke my brain a little.

Nico feels more and more disoriented as time goes on, rambling to keep himself grounded. Not the worst hit to the head he's had, but it's certainly up there. At this point, I'm surprised he hasn't died from all the brain damage. Maybe the brain damage is why he's so accepting of the gore and violence that seems to follow Max lately. The links between trauma to the brain and psychological disorders are much a mystery... In other news, his head wound is bleeding freely, and much like head wounds do, bleeding a lot. Nico closes his eyes, trying to keep his blood from getting into them. There's not much of a danger of that, but he's doing it anyway.

Max pauses his cooking and looks over at Nico. He turns the stove off and sets the pan aside. He can’t fully see the blood but he can smell it. He wanders over and drops down by him. He looks at the blood.

Did you re-open it?

Max huffs. He goes back to the kitchen and shoves some water into the microwave. He heats it up and brings it to Nico after also grabbing a towel. He gives Nick the water and starts to work on tucking him in more, trying to keep him warm. Then presses the towel to his head.

Well I said it once and I’ll say it again. I’m not gonna let you die. Your mine now. Do you think you’re gonna be able to hold this here while I finish cooking?

Nico looks up at Max with a slightly awed gaze, a little like he can't believe Max is real. Like an angel. An angel of death, perhaps, but an angel nonetheless. He holds Max's hand over the towel, smiling a little sheepishly.

He knows he needs to properly wash it out and bandage it, but that can come later. Nico will put it off as long as possible, because he knows it will HURT. Alcohol or peroxide in a wound like he's sure he has will feel like HELL.

Max walks back over with Nico’s food and hands it to him as he takes over holing the towel so Nico can eat.

There you go. Also where did this Sir thing come from? Not that I’m complaining.

It’s kinda hot actually, also we should probably get that cleaned and bandaged after you eat.

Max chuckles. He leans down and kisses Nico again. This time for longer. He pulls away with a smile, then kisses his forehead away from the wound and goes off to make him food.

Max is both panting and shaking by the time he even gets close to Nico’s body.

In his rush he was only able to get his jacket and shoes back on as well as grab a first aid kit if needed. He did thankfully still have his underwear on in the tub.

He’s cold and still hungry and extremely worried. His breathing heavy from trying it make it through the woods as well as panic.

Roots are starting to cover Nico. He doesn't hear Max calling to him, he's too deep in his dream of the girl with the auburn hair. Max sees Nico's crutches before he sees his unconscious body.

There's blood on his face from hitting his head on a root.

Motherfuckers if you don’t give me my boyfriend back I will chop your assses down like in the fucking Lorax. Speak for the trees more like speak to these nuts.

Max grabs Nico’s crutches then drops down beside him and starts trying to both get Nico up and out of the roots. He’ll fight a forest for his boyfriend, don’t test him.

The roots reluctantly allow themselves to be pulled off of Nico, but he doesn't wake up. The girl with the auburn hair may have vengeance deep in her still heart, but she doesn't want to die again.

Thank ya little man, and the trees for ya know giving him back. I’ll spread around… what do trees like… I don’t know compost? Soil? Could give ya some meat?

The trees allow Max to pass, pushing their roots down so he doesn't trip. Nobody likes being pissed on. Well. That may not be true, but they don't like to feed on it.

The girl with the auburn hair says her goodbyes, apologizing for the awful headache Nico will surely have. Nico's a bit confused, that is until his head feels like it's being split open.

Nico tries to relax, but he hurts. He whimpers as he shifts, trying to get closer to the warmth against him.

Max shoots up when he sees Nick awake.

His voice is a little louder then he meant it to be but filled with so much relief. He winced at the volume, making his voice a lot softer.

He lays back down and curls up against him, trying to be careful of any injuries as he hugs him, burying his face against him.

Nico trues to muffle his whimper as he's jostled, but he pushes himself into a sitting position. He huffs, ignoring his pain just to hug Max.
