What about an Wanda maximoff x reader were the reader is really shy but has pyrokinesis. When she gets sent on a mission with Wanda who happens to be her crush she freaks, but Wanda calms her down. The mission goes good but the jet crashes in the snow on the way back and the reader has to stay away even though shes really injured to make sure Wanda doesnt freeze in the night.
She was anew member of the Avengers, a pyrokinetic, she could burn down a building in minuteswith a fire hot like the sun. But for someone so powerful, she was surprisinglyshy. Even so, she was liked among the team; Clint took her under his wing, justlike with Wanda, whom she harbored a massive crush she prayed nobody knewabout. She feared mockery and more than anything, rejection, so she keptsilence and distance from her.
Of courseall her delicately kept balance went out of the window. They had to take down abase in the middle of cold as ever Siberia, pairing her with Wanda and Clint assupport.
Hoursafter, already in the jet, she was sat in front of Wanda, Clint was at thecockpit. She fidgeted, wanting to speak something to break the uncomfortablesilence, but Wanda did it first.
“Ihope we can work well together.” Wanda said softly.
Her eyesdarted from Wanda to everywhere on the jet, words getting caught in her throat.
“I…I hope as well. That we… complete it.” Great start.
Wanda eyedher with curiosity. She thought she didn’t like her, but that was not what shefelt now. She was nervous, fidgeting with her gloves, was it because of her?
“Iwould like to know you better…”
“Iwould too.” She interrupted Wanda a little exited.
Wandasmiled, looking even more beautiful; she could feel her cheeks burning and herheart beat faster. Her fidgeting got worse, so Wanda held her hands with bothof hers, gently drawing circular patterns with her thumbs. She looked to Wanda, hands warmer than normal.
“It’sgood to have someone else with powers. It gets lonely.” Wanda said lookinginto her eyes meaning every word.
She inhaleddeeply, trying to match her breath with Wanda’s before she spoke again:
“Yeah…I… get it.” Offering a little awkward smile.
“It’sgood to talk to you. I thought you didn’t like me.”
“Oh,no it’s not that.” She said guilty. “It’s just… I’m not very usedto… this.” She continued, looking to the surroundings.
Wanda understoodthat, it was difficult after the powers, making sense of who she was now. Shedid feel hurt she kept her distance, but as they talked, awkwardly as it was,she was happy to find someone who understood. She maybe would tell her how shewas a sight to behold surrounded by fire, later.
“Wecould watch a movie and eat something once this is over.” Wanda said in aninvitation. The cute, embarrassed reaction she got was priceless.
“Oh, Iwould love to.” She answered once the warmth on her face subdued a little.
The twogave a timid laugh, her fidgeting gone and breath calm, a comfortable silence betweenthem. Soon enough Clint interrupted to announce it was time.
An hourafter , with the mission finished perfectly, Wanda beamed with the thrill of ajob well done. Clint talked how he would get pizza and snacks to celebrate; shewas happy too, for being successful and for the little start with Wanda, theydidn’t need to know about the ugly bruises and a possibly cracked bone under thesuit.
“Itwas beautiful when you raised your hands and everything in front of usburned!” Said Wanda mimicking while talking.
Theylaughed and kept on talking, Clint let the two to themselves and focused ongetting them back to the compound. After some miles, still in Siberianterritory, a red light on the panel got Clint’s attention and a loud bang onthe quinjet stopped the conversation.
“Clint, what was this?” Asked Wanda wary.
She wasstartled by the sudden change, but the pain kept her still, she held herself inher seat with one hand and protected the hurt area with the other, looking fromWanda to Clint expecting an answer.
“It’sthe engine! It disintegrated…” He shouted, with a string of cursesafter.
“Clint!”Wanda shouted when the jet trembled and the panels flickered.
“Holdon, I gonna land!”
The jetshaken, Clint had to make an emergency landing, but the landing gear didn’twork and impact was heavy. They were stuck in the middle of absolutely nowherein Siberia, with only snow and more snow to look at.
“Areyou alright?” Asked Clint going to check on them.
“I am.And you?” Wanda turned to her, reaching a hand to help.
“Yeah.”It sounded weaker than intended, but it passed as the scare. She didn’t want tobe another reason for concern.
“Alright,I’ll call for help and see what the hell happened.”
He put on hisheavy coat and went outside. Both Wanda and her breathing heavily to calm down, there was little they could do about the jet.
“Areyou alright?” Asked Wanda, eyes wide open concerned about her.
“Ithink I am, maybe. I hit something, but I’m good.” She answered with atired face.
“Is itme or it’s getting cold here?”
“Iwouldn’t know that.” She answered with a little smirk.
Wanda rolledher eyes and got up, searching for a heavy blanket; Clint came back, enteringquickly, shivering, shaking the snow from his coat. He checked the panel, sighing, he said:
“Wearen’t getting out in this thing. Gonna call a ride.”
Clintproceeded to call rescue, but the electrical system was failing and he wasn’thaving success. She and Wanda stood in silence, anxiety and worry rolling amongthem while hearing Clint’s voice growing frustrated with each failed attempt.
The nightsky was beautiful there, cleaner than New York, if not for being stuck in the snow,it would be quite pleasant. Over an hour since they crashed Clint still triedasking for help, by now his voice and the electrical buzz was almost whitenoise for them; the temperature dropped considerably, not that it affected her,in fact she was drifting off to sleep, the pain and tiredness getting too much. She was almost asleep when a quick, angry move startled her, it was Clint, whowent back for his coat, dressing it then searching for a blanket like Wanda. He looked to themand asked:
“Youtwo are ok?”
They bothnodded. Wanda asked with a tired, low voice:
“Didyou managed to call them?”
He sighed, trying to keep his frustration to himself not to worry the two, then answered:
“Notyet. Gonna have to improvise something.”
Wanda justnodded, she wasn’t about to ask what, she was tired and the cold was chillingher bones so she just held the blanket tighter around herself.
She wasquite well, all things considered, but when she looked to Wanda, face lookingnumb with the temperature, it dawned on her that neither Wanda nor Clint wouldendure the freezing weather very long. She weighted her options, doing anythingpast blinking didn’t seem attractive, but she had to, so she focused on thetemperature, slowly raising it to a more bearable one; it was a delicatebalance of not burning the jet, not wearing herself out too fast and give somemore time till rescue.
“Whatare you doing?” Asked Wanda.
“Keepingyou two from freezing.”
“Iappreciate it very much. Thanks.” Said Clint from his place.
Wanda keptlooking to her as if searching something. The witch knew this would be taxing.
“Youdon’t have to do it.” She said concerned.
“It’sok. Help is on the way.”
Wanda noticedsomething off in her, raising her concern. When she got distracted, Wandapeaked inside her head. Pain. That was what she saw. She was in pain and wasn’ttelling. She probably didn’t want to worry them, but now Wanda was and her facedid little to hide it.
“Wanda,are you ok?”
“Yes,yes. I am.” Answered Wanda shaking it off.
She eyedher with suspicion, then Wanda asked:
“Wouldyou mind if I sat by your side?”
She lookedat her with confusion, and a tiny bit tingle. How could she say no?
“Oh…Sure… Of course.”
Wanda gaveher a little smile that would make her warm if she wasn’t already. She raisedfrom her seat and sat next to her, on the opposite side of her wounds.
“Wantto share?” Asked the witch indicating the blanket draped over her.
She wasready to decline it, but the look in Wanda’s face made her drop the idea.
“Sure.”
They wereside by side, blanket wrapped around them, looking ahead they could see theSiberian night sky through the quinjet’s windows. She was reclined on the seat whenshe felt a delicate hand searching for hers.
“You’rewarm.” Said Wanda with a sleepy voice.
Sheanswered by gently caressing her hand with her thumb, Wanda hummed withapproval. Getting closer, she leaned her head on her warm shoulder and remainedthere; her eyes turned a shade of red and she drifted off to slumber.
She couldnot ever have imagined being like this, with Wanda sleeping on her shoulder asif they weren’t crashed in the snow. She could feel Wanda’s shampoo scent, the hairtickling her neck, hear her deep breath; everything inviting her to sleep too.
The oddestpart was she wasn’t freaking out. Logically she knew her anxiety would flare upwith such proximity with Wanda, yet she couldn’t feel anything but an easyfeeling of peace. So the night went peacefully as this.
Somewhereduring it, she couldn’t be sure of the time, Wanda stirred in her position. Itmust be rather uncomfortable, maybe she wanted to sleep somewhere else, insteadshe turned a little more on her side, resting her head on the nook of her neck, her free hand held her other side, where her wounds were. She flinchedinstinctively, but her touch was delicate, almost if she knew how sensitive thearea was. Wanda was sleeping, comfortable enough she didn’t notice the blanketslipped off her back a little. She moved a strand of hair from her face and letthe her sleep.
After awhile Clint raised from his seat leaving the blanket behind. He headed to themand spoke quietly:
“I gotit. I called and Nat’s coming to take us back.”
“Good.”She answered jut as quietly.
He lookedamused at the two, then gave her a wink and went back. If she weren’tcontrolling her powers she would be burning by now. At least she was relievedthey would be rescued, though it could be a rather long flight.
Little bylittle the sky changed, gaining the colors of dawn. She was exhausted, eventhinking was difficult, she couldn’t imagine raising without losing balance, though it was worth it. Wanda remained sleeping peacefully, holding her; Clint tooka nap somewhere during the night and was stirring as the sunlight hit hiseyelids.
A bit afterthe sunrise the jet arrived, the noise woke them up. Wanda straightened in herseat and rubbed the sleep from her eyes with a yawn, then turned to her with alittle smile. She smiled in return and Wanda blushed a little.
Clint tookhis stuff and opened the jet’s exit and waited for them. Wanda and her raised, but she was too tired after using her powers so long to stand by herself, hermind was dizzy and the need to sleep overcame the pain. Wanda held her by hershoulders, helping her stand and letting her lean on her to raise. Clint tookher other side and helped her walk.
“Whathappened to her?” Asked Natasha worried once they entered the quinjet.
“Shekept us from freezing our asses. She needs rest and medical attention.”Answered Wanda, calmly but concern also slipped through her tone.
They helpedher seat on the back, Natasha took the cockpit and Clint sat near her, Wandasat by her side, holding her softly with an arm around her shoulders. She feltherself dozing off, unintentionally leaning on Wanda; the witch smiled toherself a little guilty, she looked adorable like that. She thought it would betime to return the care she had with her during the night.
Wandatouched her face and her eyes went red with a bit of red energy around herhand. She stirred and slowly laid across the seats, Wanda guided her so sherested her head on her lap and didn’t laid on her wounded side; she waited amoment to see if there was any sign of discomfort, but there was only herrelaxed face sleeping soundly after the night.
“We’lleat and watch a movie later. Sleep well.”
