In Super Mario Odyssey, whenever Mario does a single jump, he always raises the arm that is further away from the camera (top). This is likely due to Nintendo-internal guidelines that state that Mario is not to be depicted with his arm covering his face while jumping. Although said to derive from Roman molossers, the area from which the type originated never had Roman roads or towns. The dogs may have arrived much earlier than Roman times as part of the ancient transhumance. The word Senn or Senner is the term for Alpine herdsmen and dairymen (an Alpine meadow is called a Sennelager) who tend other farmers’ cattle and sometimes sheep; Sennenhund means “dogs of the Senn”. Sennenhund were not just cattle dogs, but were kept as general farm dogs, working as livestock guardian dogs and as herding dogs when necessary, as well as guarding the farmers’ families, homes, herds and flocks. The guarding function was especially necessary in earlier times, when wolves and other large predators threatened livestock and people. The larger Sennenhunds were also used for pulling carts.

The Sennenhunds, especially the largest ones, began to disappear in the 1800s with the decline in need for butcher’s dogs and carting dogs. The efforts of Alpine geologist and indigenous Swiss dog breeds advocate Albert Heim (1849-1937) brought various examples of Sennenhund to an International Dog Show in 1908. At that point, Heim and other members of the Schweizerische Kynologische Gesellschaft (Swiss Kennel Club) began sorting out the dogs by what they judged to be representative breed types and naming the four breeds.”

☝🏼I’m trying to think who are Slavic people in American movies. I remember the  Russian (or Ukrainian) Mafia Members and Mafia Bosses, Russian Spies, Polish Construction Workers, assortment of Slavic Prostitutes and/or Human Trafficking Victims, a Slavic Mad Scientist/Genius who usually Tries To Do The Right Thing in the last moment, to no avail, usually inept and dumb Slavic Police, Slavic Aged Proud Ballerinas/Opera Singers with tragic past… am I missing someone? 

P.S. “Red Sparrow” was particularly infuriating. I hated that movie.

Also, whenever the setting of anything ever, at any given time, and in any given mainstream (or even non-mainstream) genre, franchise or storyline lends itself to Romania, it’s always, and I mean, almost always connected to vampires, Dracula - something supernatural, horror-y, macabre, otherworldly, demonic, spooky or gothic - where the locals are backwards, ignorant, under-educated, barbaric, positively medieval, fanatical, amazingly superstitious, living in a constant state of fear from some hellish, obscure entity or other and for the lack of a better word, written to be downright cookie-cutter and two-dimensional - it’s like an entire nation has been reduced to a mere Halloween amusement park cliche where the one and only thing of focus and notoriety is that of stereotypes over heaps of other stereotypes which should’ve been outdated a couple of centuries ago.

I’ve only seen Slovenia represented in two pieces of media and one was so god awful i forgot it and the other was a Louis C.K. show. People could at least put in the work. 

Also, i swear to god i get fed up to shit with how americans treat Melania. I mean ok, listen, i don’t like her either, but she speak 2 languages, a feat most americans cant accomplice.

I also wish they’d stop casting the most basic of women without any contact with our world in slavic roles - it’s incredibly difficult for slavic (of course, not native english speaking) actors to get roles that aren’t “a slavic person”, and all of those are taken by Scarletts (surprise surprise) and Jennifers
