“I have a car outside,” Heahmund whispered. “We could be in Scotland before the sun comes up, and from there we head to Ireland. Let them have their fucking turf war.”

“I have a car outside,” Heahmund whispered. “We could be in Scotland before the sun comes up, and from there we head to Ireland. Let them have their fucking turf war.”
He scoffed in response and slumped against Hvitserk. Just for a moment. He was still his big brother, after all - and there were no witnesses to this moment of tenderness either. “Any words of wisdom?”
Hvitserk breathed a chuckle. “You should ask Ubbe if you want wisdom.”
“I’m asking you.”

He had been so careful not to fall into his father’s trap that he had not seen Ubbe’s. Ubbe, who was so charming, whose gentleness was so disarming. “It’s just that I don’t know if I want to lead a life like this or even force Katja to live like this. I’ve seen what a loveless marriage did to our mother - locked in a golden cage. She was always so unhappy.”

It was madness. Heahmund had spent years building walls around himself - after Judith -, defining the world in simple terms. Friend and foe. Right and wrong. Duty and desire. Then Ivar had arrived and ruined every neat line he had ever drawn.
"You make everything complicated," Heahmund muttered.
A grin returned to Ivar's face. "You noticed."

“I’m not our father’s puppet, Ubbe,” He said. “You go. I’m not doing what he wants when he can't even be bothered to spend time with his family and keeps locking me away like some abomination.”
“Well, you are an abomination,” Ubbe replied with a grin and walked over to his closet. “Come on now, Princess, your date is waiting, and you never let a girl wait.”

Ivar had always appreciated honesty, so Bjorn wasn't surprised that Ivar seemed to appreciate it now as well. He nodded, as if he understood what he meant. “Sometimes, I find it hard to like myself, too.”
“Sometimes,” Bjorn huffed. “I find it hard to like myself, also.”

“You need a shave,” Ivar muttered quietly. “And sleep.”
“Lagertha is dead,” Ubbe said quietly, his voice barely above a whisper.

“I don't know if this was wise,” Hvitserk murmured.
“I don't care if it was,” Ubbe said. “It needed to be said. I said it. And now we prepare for the worst.”
Since you all seemed to like my Discowing jacket so much, last year I made a denim Nightwind jacket

Then he noticed Tommy and Carol appearing at the end of the hallway and, in a split second as he put his hand on Steve’s back to steer him towards his classroom, he decided that he’d rather be a loser with Steve Harrington, the best most badass babysitter in town, than the king of Hawkins High.
I fantasized about creating a jacket or hoodie like this for the longest time and now I finally did it. May I present to you, the one, the only: DISCOWING jacket.
Fully lined, with a large breast pocket on the inside, two normal pockets (in yellow, obv.) and the typical Dick Grayson extravaganza! I enjoyed this project immensely, especially because of my lingering writer's block.
Mike jumped on the couch, Mrs. Byers’ voice came through, ignoring Steve as he started reaching for the light. Yes, he signaled quickly.
“Jesus Christ, Wheeler!” Billy yelled and grabbed the kid by the back of his jacket to pull him back. “Careful, idiot! In case you didn’t notice, Steve is fucking dying over here, okay?”
Confused, he dropped the cigarette and quickly stomped it out on the porch before he followed Joyce back into the house. El was sitting on the couch, rubbing her eyes, To his surprise, Joyce led him straight to the bathroom. Light flooded the hallway coming from the bathroom - no, it flickered. Will stood right underneath the lamp, staring at it with wide eyes, slowly mouthing something. For one heartbreakingly long moment, Hopper was sure that their efforts had been to no avail, that the poor kid was still possessed by that interdimensional monster, but then he saw it.
Short-short-short-long-long-long-short-short-short.
S.O.S.
“Voices,” Steve said, and even to his own ears, he sounded a little crazy.
“That’s the brain injury,” Billy scoffed.
“No, shut up, I mean it!” He started walking across the room, desperately trying to listen to the voices, hoping to find the source. He was dimly aware that he looked like a crazy person the way he was staggering about the living room. "There!" He could hear it clearly now. Voices in the ceiling. “Can't you hear them? HEY! HELLO! That's … It's Hopper! HOPPER!”
