i managed to weigh on my boyfriend's cousin scale but in three days I'm leaving again, and I actually don't think I'm gonna be able to track then.
Yesterday I had a lil' breakfast with cereal, 1 veggie cutlet (175 kcal), and pasta for dinner (I counted 80g but could've been less). 650 kcal total.
I literally have a 1kg jar of nutella in the house and no one is stopping me from eating it, but once I start there's no going back. I know myself. Nutella is my kryptonite, maybe as a goodbye I could make some low cal crepes the last day.
I'm not trying to lose weight right now, I'm trying not to gain. I am still in a calorie deficit so it will result in me eventually losing more weight which is my ultimate goal, but I can also be chill about it. I'm on vacation after all, i wanna enjoy myself.
unfortunately this is gonna be the last weigh-in. I'm going on vacation and I'm on the train right now. I couldn't fit the scale in the luggage😕.
This day was already full of temptations and it's not even 1 pm. First of all, I had breakfast and I had to stop myself from eating nutella, I had cereal instead; then we stopped at my mother in law's office and there were pastries (someone's birthday), I declined; for lunch I'm gonna have one veggie cutlet, no bread, no nothing, while my boyfriend is having a sandwich.
I haven't slept much and I'm so tired, but I can't sleep on the train.
I'm so mad, but yeah it is what it is. Tomorrow I'm leaving and right now I'm at my boyfriend's. It's 6.30 pm and I'm starting to get a little hungry. I'm also bored as fuck.
I have the habit of eating a lot of junk food here and my body remembers it. It doesn't help the fact that there are chips, nutella, biscuits and whatever in his cupboard. Men be living on easy mode fr😭😭😭.
In two hours I'm gonna have dinner tho, and that's gonna be an excruciating task. I am gonna eat eggs, my problem is the fact I have to stay at the dinner table for so long. I've been with my boyfriend enough to know that it's so hard to not eat more just because it's boring to do nothing.
I have to remind myself that being at my boyfriend's is not a reason to overeat
I went shopping for 7 hours at the mall. It was so tiring but I hit 10.000 steps and I bought so many things. I had to buy some swimwear and it was absolutely painful to try them on, but I had to.
Anyway I started feeling bad today too and I took some water + salt.
I also ate a veggie burger and some fries. Idk how many calories, maybe 800 kcal, but it's fine because I'm not gonna eat tonight.
I feel also very bloated, probably stress and too much diet coke. I should cut back on that, because if I'm too bloated it's gonna be a problem.
4 days left before I leave for vacation. I'm excited and worried at the same time. I bought skincare products and I'm gonna bring eye patches and masks, because it's fun and because instead of eating breakfast I can take care of my skin😊😊☺️
It would make this day 1013 kcal, but to be safe I'll say 1100.
Anyway it's fine. It's not going to kill my progress at all. I'm probably trying to convince myself but yeah.
I don't know if I'm weighing myself tomorrow, because my body was put into a lot of stress and I'm a little bloated. I don't wanna ruin my mood, so I'm gonna weigh myself on Friday.
I was almost fucking fainting in the metro. Worst feeling ever, and It actually hit me harder than other times. I cried and felt like throwing up... it sucked.
I don't think that I can do this, not this way. I'm gonna up my calories a bit. Just a bit
The one thing I hate about dieting is that I'm always so excited to see the final results, and I get so impatient. It's just day two .... like i need to be thin tomorrow
Today I'm gonna eat 200 kcal, i hope i make it. I've already fasted for 34h and I'm probably gonna eat at 5-6 pm in order to not die of hunger before bed. That would make my fast 44h.
I'll be going to the beach for 10 days in August from the 4th to the 15th, and I'm staying with my boyfriend's family. Having said that, I absolutely have to maintain my weight and, If I can, lose a kg or two. Tho losing might be very hard because when I'm with my boyfriend I tend to get loose and eat more (and too much).
It's easy to overeat with his family because none of them give a shit about dieting. When his mom cooks, she always gives out very generous portions of food and it makes me feel bad to leave it. Sometimes I've given some of my food to my boyfriend, but more times than not i just eat the whole portion.
This cannot happen, so I set out some rules for myself:
1. I'm not having breakfast, ever (i usually already don't have breakfast at home, but when I'm with his family i always overeat and get insane cravings because everybody else is eating). Instead of breakfast I'm going to do skincare/learn danish on duolingo/have some milk and coffee/read/scroll on tumblr.
2. At lunch I'm going to have half of whatever they give me to eat or if i can escape that, I'm not eating at all.
3. I have to have some safe foods around and drinks like diet coke, apricots, watermelon, carrots, ringo ice cream.
4. Since I had half of my meal for lunch, I'm going to say to my mother in law that I wanna finish the food for dinner. So I'm gonna have that for dinner.
5. They will insist that I eat more or that I have another serving of plate, at that point I will sometimes decline and sometimes I'll say yes in order to not piss anyone off.
6. I am allowed one day a week in which I can eat more. For example the 8th of august will be me and my boyfriend's anniversary. We're going to a restaurant and I'm not going to double check calories that day. One day won't matter.
it is going to be very hard. Probably much more than what I think. I have to keep remembering why I'm doing this and where I'm going as it's easy to overeat. I also have to keep myself busy all the time. I don't think that I'm going to be bored because I'm gonna be surrounded by people all the time, but the cravings might get crazy and i have to be prepared for those.
WL tips as someone who lost 30 kg in a year, then another 12 kg in the next year:
(Long post bc I am bored inside a bus)
-Plan a 0 kcal intake daily: my 0 kcal plan was/is having 1 cup of coffee, 2 cups of water, 2 cups of green tea and 1 cup of herbal tea of any kind. I am not allowed to have anything else until I drink all of these. It motivates me to drink more water and tea, on top of that I lose appetite while drinking so much stuff, it also takes me 6+ hours to drink this much. (more f4sting hours, yay!)
-You might not be able to go for a walk or jog everyday, but you can walk inside your home everyday. Add small steps to your life; you have clothes to take to the laundry room? Take them one by one instead of taking them as a pile. Going down the stairs and no one is around? Go back up and then down again. Waiting for water to boil in the kitchen? Pace around.
-48+ plus hours of f4sting makes you bInge? Just do 24 hours. 24 hours still makes you binge afterwards? Do 18 or 16 hours, everything is better than losing control.
-Don’t fight with natural cravings, try to appease them, otherwise you will bInge and all of this won’t be sustainable. For example; if you know you will crave something sweet just before your period, instead of saying ‘I won’t have any sweets’ and not doing anything just to devour something unhealthy afterwards, prepare yourself something sweet and healthy like a fruit platter or a protein bar. If you give in and eat that protein bar, you will still feel less guilty and less out of control.
-Keeping the feeling that you are in control is very important, otherwise you might lose motivation as well.
-Don’t lose motivation when you maintain for a few days or even a week, maintaining is much better than gaining. And if you keep going that stubborn w4ight will go down as well, there is no way it doesn’t, l00sing w4ight is maths after all.
-PurgIng and laxatives are not long term fixes. BP will make your body hold onto water on top of fking up your teeth and stomach lining. Chew and spIt if you must, but dont bp. Laxatives will work for awhile, maybe even for one or two years, but they will fck up your bowels so bad that you will end up not being able to take a shIt without them. Gut health is very important for wl, your guts are where calories are consumed. (Go for natural laxatives and fiber instead: coffee with lemon juice, dried figs with water, boiled sweet potatoes.)
-Consistency is the key: 400 kcals every day of the week is better than f4sting for three days and then having 1200 kcals the rest of the week.
-That being said, accept hiccups here and there: people will expect you to have a slice of cake on your birthday, they will be watching you during a vacation, of course you will have a few pieces of chocolate during easter. Going out with friends? They might force you to share a dessert with them maybe. You are not your dis0rder, you are a living human being with a life and sometimes you need to let yourself enjoy f00d if it is inevitable. This doesn’t mean let go and e4t everything during outings or anything, but don’t let guilt kill your motivation. Instead take it in with a ‘I had to eat xxxx yesterday, so I will do better today’ mindset. Preparing beforehand also lessens the guilt, like f4sting during the day if you have a dinner planned with friends.
-Boredom e4ting is real, find low kcal things and only have them during those episodes if you can. Cucumbers, pickles, lettuce, nori snacks are all very low kcal.
-Learn the hours or things that trIgger your bInges, avoid those things if you can, or schedule things to do in those hours. You can’t e4t at the same time if you are shaving your legs in the shower.
-There is no magic wand, don’t expect your body to create miracles for you and just lose 10 kg in a week. The human body is actually coded to not lose more than 1 kg a week. Anything more than that is already a miracle, you are doing fine. WL just takes time, as annoying as it is.
-Slow progress is actually better than fast progress, because fast means you might be just losing water w4ight, also the slower you lose that w4ight the harder it is for you to gain back, because your body gets accustomed to that w4ight.
-Find safe foods and drinks for yourself and keep them under your hand at all times.
-Sometimes you will have to cheat to do better: Allowing yourself a small piece of candy or a drink with kcals during your f4st to keep going is better instead of passing out and then having to eat. If you break your f4st you will consume more kcals after all.
-Get people around you used to the fact that you are a person with no appetite, instead of letting them know that you are di4ting. When someone offers you food or snacks, just say ‘I don’t have an appetite’ or ‘Oh, I don’t like that kind of food’, instead of saying something like ‘I am being careful of what I am eating’ or ‘I am doing intermittent fasting’. It will be sooo satisfactory when someone finally says ‘I am not offering you (snacks) because you don’t e4t/like them anyway’.
-Similarly, if someone calls you out for losing w4ight; don’t say ‘Thank you’, say ‘Oh, did I?’, that’s the appropriate reaction of someone not ‘di4ting’.
-The progress will get slower as you lose w4ight, this is why most people lose motivation at some point, return to old habits, and then end up back here at their SW. Don’t fall for that, the lower your BMI gets, the slower it gets. Think of it like this; a smaller engine will need less gas to keep going, since your body is getting smaller your metabolism also needs less to keep going. It doesn’t mean ‘your metabolism is getting slower’, it just needs less now because you w4ight less now. It is still working for you, don’t worry and keep going.
These should be all taken with a grain of salt, because they are things that worked for me, but it might not be the same for everyone. Thank you for reading!
