Anyway crazy that nine week was already two weeks ago, I swear I will make a proper thank you post to everyone who participated ssssome time this month, but for now i am very very happy for everyone who took up the invitation and made so much crazy beautiful art of the guy of all time :]
(Nine goes to his first Chao Garden and doesn’t understand why this hero chao keeps following him around.)
--
Nine folded his arms, trying not to seem like he was pouting.
When he, Sonic, and Tails first arrived at the Chao Garden, he was in awe of the variety of chao enjoying the vibrant, green forest as mobians and humans milled about, giving them food and fawning over them. Sonic was nearly bowled over by a small army of chao and Tails explained that the only person the chao liked more than Sonic was Knuckles.
“If you think that’s bad,” Tails had chuckled, “you should see Sonic with wisps!”
Their arrival drew the attention of an older rabbit mobian that Nine vaguely knew as Vanilla, so he quickly left before she got close enough to talk. She was kind and he knew Sonic and Tails liked her, but . . . Nine felt antsy around her. He knew that statistically, not all parents were like his and Tails’ but there was only enough dimensional “culture shock" he could take.
After setting off on his own to avoid small talk, Nine gravitated toward the less colorful chao that resembled his plushie named Shatter. Apparently, she was a “dark” type; chao that had a tendency to be more rambunctious and troublesome, which was definitely more Nine’s style. With his fashion sense and general disposition, he knew he’d fit right in.
Or so he thought.
None of the “dark” chao wanted anything to do with him. He even held out some fruit in his metal tails to seem interesting and new, but whenever he got close to a chao they took one look at him and walked or flew away. They didn’t seem afraid of him, just disinterested, but that was a minor comfort.
What was he doing wrong? His aesthetic matched all the other mobians and humans that the dark chao were interested in, so what was it? Before arriving, Nine had been worried about being judged for liking something cute, but it quickly became apparent that only people interested in chao came to the garden, so he could indulge in caring for them without worry.
If only he could find a chao to care for!
But it’s not like Nine was going to force anyone to hang out with him. While he may not have much experience with creatures that weren’t rats, he knew better than to force them into something.
“Chao?”
Nine spun around, eager to finally interact with a living chao, but his smile fell. It was a “hero” type chao, with ivory skin and markings the color of rust and pumpkin orange. Its emote ball was in the shape of a halo and yeah—definitely not his vibe.
“I’m not Tails,” he said, though it’s not like he could blame the chao for being confused. It likely only interacted with people who came to the garden, so why wouldn’t it mistake any two-tailed fox who looked like Tails to be Tails?
Unfortunately, this chao didn’t understand him. “Chao!” it chirped before diving toward Nine and nuzzling his face. “Chao, chao!”
Oh boy. “How about I take you to him, okay?” Nine gently pulled the chao off his face and awkwardly held it in his arms. Yeah, the chao had wings and could fly, but he didn’t want it giving him whatever affection it normally gave Tails. It would only make him feel uneasy and refusing it would be rude. Just because Nine wasn’t Tails didn’t mean he wanted to “ruin” his brother’s reputation, even if it was to a chao.
The chao seemed content to sit so they made it to Tails without issue. His twin was currently playing peekaboo with a green and pink chao who kept burrowing into his tails.
“Here.” Nine held out the chao who giggled at the unexpected movement. “Your friend thought I was you.”
Tails smiled and waved at the chao but didn’t reach for it. “What are you talking about?”
“This chao wants you, so here you go.” Nine bent down to put the chao in Tails’ arms, but the moment he stepped away the chao flew up and nuzzled his face again.
“Chao!”
Tails snickered. “I dunno, Nine. It doesn’t look like I’m the one it wants.”
“Enough with the jokes.” Nine glared at Tails and sidestepped away from the chao. “Just tell your friend I’m not you and—”
“I’ve never played with that chao before,” Tails said. “I promise tha—” He paused and deftly caught the falling green and pink chao who’d tried climbing on top of his head. It was smaller than the others Nine had seen and didn’t have any wings, so it was either a baby or just small in general. The fall seemed to startle the chao and it started whimpering.
“Sh-sh-sh-sh, it’s okay, Cosmo,” Tails whispered. He gently rocked the chao and grabbed a small piece of pre-cut apple in the grass beside him. “Here you go.” The chao was immediately distracted with the food and gnawed on it.
Tails looked back up at Nine. “Sorry. Look—I wouldn’t joke about this, I promise. The chao obviously wants you, so why not play with it? That’s what we came here for, right?” He raised a brow and smirked. “What, is the chao not emo enough for you or something?” he teased.
Nine rolled his eyes and flipped Tails off. “Haha, very funny. Cya later.” The chao tried to nuzzle him again, so Nine grabbed it like before and walked away, feeling strangely off-balance.
It wasn’t . . . he’ll admit that learning the chao wasn’t actually mistaking him for Tails was a relief, but that was only part of the discomfort.
How could he explain that this chao wanting to play with him felt . . . wrong? He wasn’t so simple-minded to believe that chao were “good” or “bad” based on appearance, but at the same time . . . to have this innocent chao with wings and a halo actually want to interact with him?
Nine was an interdimensional fuck-up after all.
He just wanted to carve out a place for himself where he felt safe and could be with the only person who gave a damn about him, but he fucked that up royally. He hated the Chaos Council for what they’d done to the world but he ended up being worse! Sonic’s variant friends teamed up with the Chaos Council just to take him down! The rebels from New Yoke were willing to work together with their oppressors because they felt they had no other choice to stop him—the big, bad villain.
Nine found a bench partially hidden by a tree with wilting branches and leaves and sat down. He sat the chao on the opposite side of the bench then unfurled his tails so they partially covered him like a sideways umbrella.
“Go away and play with someone else, please.”
He was a jaded person, a mutant who only felt comfortable accentuating that mutation like a masochist. Nine let himself be corrupted by the Paradox Prism and was so singularly focused on his goal that he didn’t realize he gave the impression he wanted to murder Sonic! It was no wonder Shadow was ready to kill him.
And the scariest part? Despite never wanting to kill Sonic even though Sonic hurt him more than anyone ever had before . . . what if Nine did? The Paradox Prism made him feel like a god, so who's to say he wouldn’t have done something he’d regret in the heat of the moment? Scattered amongst the nightmares of his imprisonment at the hands of the Chaos Council, Nine found himself standing over Sonic’s lifeless body more than once—
“I’m so glad you found a friend, Mango!”
Nine flinched at the new voice, drawing a weapon he didn’t have and breathing heavily as he pointed it at . . . a little girl?
He blinked away the tunnel vision and realized it was the rabbit’s daughter . . . Dream? No, Cream.
“Oh hi, Mr. Nine!” Cream said, with more cheer than a person who was nearly attacked should have. “Is this your first time in a Chao Garden?”
“What gave me away?” he mumbled. “I—wait, stop!” This chao was relentless! It was climbing all over his metal tails like they were a playground.
Cream giggled and moved closer. “Mango really likes you!”
“Mango?” Chao certainly had some odd names.
“Mm-hm!” Cream rushed over to the closest food cart and came back with a green and red skinned fruit. “Mangos are their favorite fruit, so that’s their name!”
Huh. Well, Nine supposed it made sense and the chao’s coloring matched, so why not? “I’ll leave you and Mango to it, then,” he said. He stood up to leave but Mango flew into his face again.
“What’s your problem?” Nine growled, shaking against the urge to chuck Mango across the room. It had wings so it would be all right. Probably.
“Are you okay, Mr. Nine?” Cream asked. She halted her progress of cutting up the mango against the hard surface of the bench.
“This—Mango—won’t leave me alone,” Nine said through gritted teeth.
"It's because they like you," Cream said, not unkindly but slowly, as if she were too polite to point out that Nine was missing the obvious.
"Well . . . they shouldn't."
Cream cocked her head to the side. "Why not?"
Oh Chaos. "Because I'm—" Shit, he knew he was a mess but he wasn't going to curse in front of Vanilla's kid. She was younger than him, so he was supposed to set an example or something anyway, right? Not to mention there was no need to burden this kid with his messed up life.
"I'm not a good person," he muttered. There, direct without any swearing or unnecessary information.
Cream laughed. "That's a silly joke, Mr. Nine." She continued cutting up the mango fruit as Mango the chao inspected a metal tail.
"It's the truth!" Why was he arguing with a little girl about this?
"Mr. Sonic and Mr. Tails made you their brother," Cream said matter-of-factly, "you're the only boy who will go shopping with Miss Amy, and Mr. Knuckles likes to look after you. Plus, out of everyone here, Mango wants to play with you." She held up half of the fruit, expertly cut into cubes with the skin acting like a plate.
"Even if you did bad things before," Cream said, in a kind tone that somehow wasn't condescending, "you're doing good things now. Isn't that all that matters?"
Nine could only stare. How the hell did Sonic manage to surround himself with people who were so—so nice without any ulterior motives? He glanced down at Mango, who nodded as if it agreed with Cream's words and wanted Nine to believe them.
That, or it really wanted to be fed some of the mango.
He was apparently outnumbered, so Nine accepted defeat. He returned his tails to their default position, took the mango, and sat back down on the bench. Mango the chao immediately nestled in the crook of his elbow and opened its mouth expectantly.
"Pampered little thing, aren't you," Nine said. He picked up one of the cubes and fed it to Mango the way he'd seen Tails do to his chao. Mango chomped on the entire thing instead of gnawing on it and wiggled happily as it chewed. Nine laughed in spite of himself at the adorable display.
Cream giggled. "I call that Mango's happy dance."
It was a fitting name. When Mango was finished with that bite, Nine was ready with another. "So . . . thanks for the help uh—cutting up the fruit, and stuff," he said lamely. "Do you visit the chao often?" While he'd fled from small talk earlier, Cream had done him a favor, so it was the least he could do. Plus, she didn't seem like she was going to leave anytime soon so he might as well not make this awkward.
"Oh, all the time." Cream swung her legs back and forth. "Mother's in charge of this place, so I get to play with the chao whenever I want!"
That explained why Tails said Cream had two chao that lived with her, and how she seemed so at ease here. "So, is there a trick to getting chao to like you? I just don't have much in common with Mango so I was surprised they wanted to play with me so badly."
"Hmmmm, not really." Cream shrugged. "Chao just do what they want, and you don't have to have a lot in common to be friends. Gemerl's a robot and he's my friend! Mother says that just wanting to be someone's friend is all it takes. As long as you keeping trying to be a good friend then that's all that matters."
Mango trilled in-between bites, like it was telling Nine to stop worrying about the whole thing and just be their friend already. After being alone for so long—it was bewildering to realize that's what most of his interactions as of late boiled down to. People just willing to be his friend like it was no trouble at all, like it was the next logical step after meeting him.
Nine pulled Mango closer for a cuddle. "Yeah, I guess you're right."

Update: Check out this ADORABLE art made by @scrunglepaws!
Hope you enjoyed it! I know the typical choice has been Tails for this day but I’ve had the idea of Nine being “adopted” by a hero chao for a while now and felt it was a good fit. And I know it was a brief mention, but another prompt for this week will give more information about Shatter, Nine’s chao plushie. A quick note that yes, Shatter is a girl even though chao are genderless, but it’s a plushie, so guided by plushie logic Shatter “felt” like a girl so that’s what she is.
(Nine experiences snow for the very first time. He has an unexpected reaction to it, much to his horror and his brothers’ delight.)
--
“It worked!” Sonic’s voice pierced the relative quiet of the morning. “They were right!”
“Of course they were right.” Tails rolled his eyes from where he was sitting across from Nine. “You saw the signs as we flew in.”
There was a whoosh! and Sonic was suddenly beside them, pulling on their arms. “Come on, come on, come on!”
Tails wrenched his arm away. “It’ll still be there after we finish breakfast,” he mumbled, pulling his cup in close like Sonic was going to snatch it from him. Nine’s nose wrinkled at the strong whiff of coffee. Why Tails chose that as his preferred form of caffeine Nine would never understand.
Energy drinks were easily the superior choice. They had a far greater selection of flavors, you didn’t need a machine to prepare it, and they didn’t stink up an entire room when you drank it. Tails had disagreed about the flavors, and tried giving him different samples, but they all tasted the same to him.
“You can eat later, come on!” Sonic whined. “You wanna see the surprise, don’t you, Nine?”
Truthfully, Nine didn’t care if this “surprise” was delayed another ten minutes, but he couldn’t resist the chance to gang up on Tails. “Sure.” He put his spoon down and allowed himself to be pulled out of the chair. “Let’s go.”
“Noooooo.” Tails pouted and gave his coffee a mournful look. “I’ll be back for you,” he whispered, and Nine walked a little faster toward the door.
Chaos, he hoped he never got as weirdly dramatic as his brothers.
“All right,” Sonic said as he grabbed a red jacket. “Get all bundled up, and no peeking!”
Two days ago, Nine found Sonic and Tails huddled around the Miles Electric and whispering excitedly. Upon noticing him, they quickly covered the screen and announced it was time to visit the Mystic Ruins.
(Nine still found it mind-boggling that after hearing nothing but Green-Hill-this and Green-Hill-that—that it wasn’t even considered Sonic’s main “home.” Sonic was a wanderer, and Tails had numerous workshops set up all over Mobius. To think that they had the freedom to just get up and go whenever they felt like it? It was a lot to process, but it did give Nine some ideas of his own . . . )
As he readied himself for the dreadful cold, Nine wondered if he should grab his metal harness so he could attach his tails. Since accepting his fate as the youngest brother of Sonic and Tails, Nine no longer felt the need to have his metal tails on him at all times. He could lounge about and eat breakfast harness-free without feeling like part of himself was missing. That only applied to the house though, but right now?
Even with his jacket, pants, a beanie, and a scarf the weather was too fucking cold. Nine didn’t know what it said about him that he missed the humid, polluted sky of New Yoke, but when the outside felt like subzero temperatures? Yeah, he missed it.
His harness was padded and he wore an undershirt beneath it, but the metal still chilled him to the bone. Sonic had said they could eat later, so it’s not like they were going to be out for hours . . . meh, he could go without the harness for a bit.
Once they had all bundled up, Tails tied a bandana around his eyes and Sonic grabbed both of his paws. Nine instinctively tensed but Sonic squeezed his gloves.
“It’s not far,” Sonic whispered. “This is a good surprise, I promise. We aren’t going to hurt you.”
Nine’s ears burned at having been read so easily. It was uncanny how Sonic just knew these things, but Nine wasn’t going to complain. He’d rather not have to explain that when people said they had a “surprise” it always ended in a beating. He’d rather focus on the feeling of Sonic’s gloves and the sound of Tails hovering in the air behind him.
“This better be worth all the hype,” he said, trying to come off as nonchalant and teasing. His voice was shakier that he’d have liked, but his brothers didn’t seem to care.
“You’re going to eat those words in more ways than one,” Tails said, in a strangely foreboding way. Sonic snickered and Nine’s steps faltered. What the fuck did he mean by that?
“Enough stalling!” Sonic let go of one of his paws, the door unlocked with a click!, and there was a burst of biting cold. Nine bit back the whine in the back of his throat and started walking. The sooner they got this over with, the sooner he could go back into the nice warm house.
All thoughts of the undesirable temperature vanished the moment Nine stepped over the threshold. There was this strange . . . crunching sound underneath his shoes? Like he was stepping on loud sand or little bits of glass. There was also the faintest squeak, which Nine could only hear because it was also unnaturally quiet.
It almost felt like he was back in the Grim. Except where the Grim’s quiet felt empty, this quiet felt . . . heavy? Not in a bad way, but it was as if the silence itself had a presence.
“All right,” Sonic said. “Just a little further and . . . ta-da~!”
The blindfold was removed and Nine recoiled from a harsh, blinding light. He shielded his eyes and blinked a few times to help his vision adjust. For a split second, he thought he’d actually gone blind because all he could see was white. Except—no, those were the same trees he’d seen yesterday. He wasn’t sure why, but for some reason everything was blanketed in pure, glistening white . . . stuff.
Nine glanced down to his left and saw a big mound of the stuff. By the way everything was so evenly coated, this could only have been some sort of natural phenomena. He reached out toward the top of the mound to study the odd substance but stopped. His ear flicked at a sound that was only perceptible because of the unnatural silence.
Somehow his vision . . . the world took on a muted, fuzzy hue. He felt inexplicably drawn to the tiny sound. It was getting louder. Nine felt his tails twitch and he wondered if—
—complete and total darkness.
Nine opened his mouth to shriek and realized his upper body was encased in some sort of freezing ice. What was—why couldn’t he move? Did he pass out? Was he captured? Where were Sonic and Tails? Oh shit, oh fuck had he just been hallucinating the past few—
Something grabbed him by the back of his neck and yanked.
Nine couldn’t fight the yip! at both the unexpected movement and the return of blinding light. He could breathe normally again but it felt like he was coated in a layer of ice, like he’d been left in a freezer for too long.
He frantically brushed the ice off his face and spat out the bits that got in his mouth.
“You uh—you all right there, buddy?”
Now that he could see, Nine turned his head to realize Sonic was the one who’d grabbed him, and he was biting his lip in a losing battle to hold back laughter. Just off to the side was Tails, who was bent over laughing without any restraint.
“B-Better—than I—thought!” Tails wheezed.
A small part of Nine knew he should be offended at being the subject of whatever sort of prank this was, but he still had no idea what happened.
He must have looked pathetic, because Sonic took pity on him. “Here, this’ll explain it.” Nine felt himself back on solid ground and just when his face started to burn from the realization that he’d been scruffed—Sonic was holding out the Miles Electric.
Sonic pressed a button, and Nine watched a recording of his blindfolded self step outside. He glared at Tails who scrambled over to join them. To Nine’s shock, he watched as his recorded self turned to glance at the white mound, go absolutely still, then with a flick of his ear he dove into the mound. It was an oddly graceful dive, but there was nothing dignified about his ass sticking straight up in the air. The video cut off as Sonic and Tails erupted into laughter off-screen.
His brothers snickered again, but Nine was only more confused. “Why did I do that?” he asked. There was no conscious decision to jump into the icy substance, he just did it like some strange compulsion.
“You heard a mouse or some type of rodent,” Tails said, as if that was supposed to explain it. He snatched his Miles Electric away from Nine who belatedly realized he should have seized and deleted the evidence. “Wild foxes do it all the time when they hunt in the winter, and fox mobians can have the same instinct when they see snow for the first time.”
“Or little pests who want to give their big bro a heart attack!” Sonic pulled Tails in for a noogie which Tails only half-heartedly tried to evade.
“He totally freaked out!” Tails looked at Nine with the same glee he’d had watching the embarrassing video. “I wish you could have seen it—he thought I’d lost my mind!”
“What was I supposed to think when you dove into snow so deep all I could see were your itty-bitty tails?”
Nine bent down as the teasing beside him continued and scooped up a pawful of the icy substance. There was still . . . he still felt a step removed from the conversation, like Sonic and Tails were speaking in a language he only half understood. He wasn’t called a genius for nothing though, and even if he wasn't, by context clues he could only assume—
“So, this is . . . snow?” he asked, sounding out the strange new word.
The teasing abruptly stopped. “Wait, did you not know what snow is?” Sonic asked.
Nine shook his head. Was he supposed to?
Sonic muttered something under his breath that sounded like “Shit.”
“But we . . . when we told you about staying in Green Hill for a few months, we said it was to get away from the snow,” Tails sputtered, looking distraught. “You nodded like it made sense.”
True, but at the time Nine had only been in this dimension about a week and wasn’t going to admit he didn’t know what they were talking about. “W-Well it doesn’t—we don’t get snow in New Yoke, so how was I supposed to know about it?”
“We figured you’d never seen it before,” Sonic said, “but I guess we assumed you at least knew what it was.” His tone was all gentle and understanding and he was being nice so why was Nine’s fur prickling up? Nine knew enough now that he recognized Sonic and Tails weren’t making fun of him, so why did it feel like they were? He knew that teasing was a common thing among friends and family, that it wasn’t always done with cruel intentions.
His brothers had planned this out, wanting to share an experience with him but he was messing it up! He was so fucked up he couldn’t enjoy a simple change in the weather. Nine wrapped his arms around himself, stuck with that bizarre need to not be touched and smothered in hugs at the same time. Sonic and Tails just stared at him, twitching like they didn’t know what he wanted, which was fair because Nine didn’t know. He was so fucking tired of feeling like—
“First snow lesson!” Tails said, a bit too loud but Nine latched onto the distraction. Tails bent down and scooped up a sizeable amount of snow in his gloves. He moved closer to Nine and started packing the snow in a practiced way to mold it into a sphere.
“Snow is a form of precipitation made up of tiny, hexagonal-shaped crystals called snowflakes,” Tails explained. “When it’s cold enough, they stick to each other and cover everything. There’s a lotta fun activities to do in the snow, but making snowballs is one of my favorites.” He flew back and threw the packed snow hard at Sonic’s chest.
Sonic dropped to the ground, clutching the snow-smeared spot on his jacket like he’d been wounded. “Right in the heart!” he cried, like he was trying to win an award for being needlessly dramatic. “After everything I’ve done for you, this is the thanks I get?!”
Tails rolled his eyes. “Don’t let him fool you. He uses his speed to make hundreds of snowballs and says building a snowball-pitching-machine-gun is cheating!”
Sonic sat up to fix Tails with an incredulous look. “You can fly! I can run out of range and you can fly out of range so we’re even!”
“If we’re so evenly matched why do I feel like the only times I win is because you let me?”
Sonic just shrugged and rubbed a finger under his nose. “It’s not my fault I’m just that awesome.”
“We’ll see about that,” Tails grumbled. He landed in front of Nine and grasped his paws. “Sonic won’t stand a chance against the both of us!”
“Wait, what?” Sonic leapt to his feet. “I thought we were going to do a free-for-all?”
“And why would we do that?” Tails asked sweetly, letting go of Nine’s gloves to face Sonic. Nine gulped as he was reminded that despite appearances, Tails wasn’t the angelic, goody two-shoes he’d initially believed. His twin could be downright vicious. “It’s Nine’s first snowball fight, so obviously it would be rude to make him fend for himself—”
“—and I’m the reigning champ, so if he’s going to learn from anyone it should—”
“—be me because two-on-one with one being the expert makes sense!”
There was a moment of silence as Sonic and Tails stared each other down. Nine couldn’t help but shrink in on himself. Forget the cold—he was starting to regret his decision not to wear his tails. He knew that logically, this couldn’t be an actual fight between the two, but what if—
“You drive a hard bargain, baby bro,” Sonic said, with a hint of a smile that eased the tension in Nine’s muscles. “Just don’t come crying to me when I whoop your butts.”
“Your blue butt is the one that’s gonna get whooped,” Tails grumbled, and Nine strangely found himself grateful to be on Tails’ team.
Before Nine could follow Tails to put some distance between them and Sonic, Sonic smiled and winked. It didn’t make sense, but somehow . . . it felt like a promise that everything was going to be okay.
--
Some time later, an hour or so—Nine didn’t know nor did he care—the three of them collapsed in a pile. Nine had no idea what a snowball fight winner looked like, because they all had red-tinged muzzles, were out of breath, and absolutely covered in snow. The strangest thing was Nine welcomed it, because the constant movement kept him nice and toasty.
“Happy first snow day,” Tails said before he took advantage of Nine’s exhaustion like the evil mastermind he was and smothered him in a hug.
Nine let out a moan as his muscles reminded him that he still wasn’t at the same level of endurance as his brothers. “Yeah, yeah, no need to get all sappy on me.” He hugged Tails back and pretended like his tails wouldn’t be wagging if they had the energy to wag.
“Did someone ask for sappy?” A sinking dread coiled in Nine’s chest at the conniving joy in Sonic’s voice.
“Don’t you—you know exactly what I said, you asshole. Don’t—”
It was futile.
Nine could only scream as Sonic pounced on the two of them. Tails laughed—because Nine was surrounded by crazy people—but the impromptu wrestling match didn’t last long. Thankfully, Tails kept the biting to a minimum.
When they finally made it inside, Nine collapsed on the couch with only his shoes and jacket removed. He resigned himself to his fate as a sore, wounded heap of wet fur and said as such out loud so his brothers knew exactly what they did to him.
“Well, that’s too bad, because heaps of wet fur don’t get hot chocolate~!”
Nine’s ears twitched at Sonic’s voice but he wouldn’t be swayed. He lifted his head to tell Sonic as such, but froze as Tails shook a bag of marshmallows with an evil look on his face. With an equally evil look, Sonic held up sprinkles and caramel syrup.
. . . maybe snow days weren’t so bad.
--------
Oh Nine—don’t you know better than to tempt fate like that?
Hope you enjoyed this odd take on the “Black and White” prompt! It totally wasn’t influenced by the snow outside my window, not at all.
Is it just me or does he look a little... Bug eyed? Idk.
(It looks like a squirt gun!) man this looks a bit bad out of context... The gun just makes portals (he made it so he could follow sonic between the shattered versus.

A songfic based on Blow My Brains Out by Tikkle Me.
Nine never thought he would actually meet Tails, but now that he is standing in front of him, he is convinced he is lying. No way he could actually understand or care about his situation.
***
This is my first time trying to write a songfic, so I would love advice and feedback.
I still plan to go back and do the other Nine Week prompts, but it may be a while.
This took me way too long to finish (3 hours???) ig because I don't draw Prime Nine, well anyway.
@nines-week day two: nothing alike.
Prime Nine and Shattered Nine because I realized the other day that S Nine wouldn't really be bothered by Tails (except jealousy) because Sonic would've been comparing him to Prime Nine not Tails.
Nine is an angsty and emotional guy. A genius inventor, but also a tortured artist; his best outlet for his frustrations is his street art. One day he paints a really cool fennec fox who ends up becoming his artistic muse.
AKA Nine makes some cool ocs: Kit, Surge, and Starline. But then he thinks the fennec oc is really hot and gets embarrassed. It's pretty awesome.
Nine and Tails have a fun day at the spa! Except, y'know, for the fact that Nine absolutely does not want to be there. Maybe Tails can get him to chill out?
AKA a peek at Nine and Tails' perspective during spa trip in Chapter 4 of Kaleidoscope: Act 3. You don't need to be familiar with Kaleidoscope to enjoy Nine being an anxious little mess in this, though. Enjoy! :3
Well now he's having trauma to all the time's something similar happened to him when he was younger, other street rats would pretend to be his friend and then turn on him when they were done.
It happened a lot before his robot tails, before he hadn't given up yet and still wanted a friend.
I would've done a song as well but it's a thirty panel comic so it should be fine.
For explanation of a few things in this comic, Shattered is my main sonic prime au (as in the other AUs branch of this one) basically sanereo happens and Sonic breaks the prism from a different world and kind of goes through sonic prime again, but different world building means different rules and different characters, so things happen differently.
Also there's a recurring thing where sonic will mention 'last time' and is really annoyed about it.
Last detail, in a previous sean sonic tells Nine to trust him and Nine agrees.
