I'd hoped to post chapter 3 of NBNBR as a propaganda piece, but between work and my Care and Keeping fic it sadly didn't happen. I AM still working on it though, and hope to get it finished ASAP.

Thankfully, I've recently learned that AO3 has a "hide text" feature, and I'm using it to include a "Previously on" section in the chapter notes. It's almost been a year since my last update, and I imagine most people don't have to time to reread a 21K fic. If you're curious to learn how, check out this helpful how-to.

Amy is the best! I LOVE Nine's little smile! 💖 It's such a perfect expression of his genuine affection for her! No one can resist her charm. And Amy looks so appropriately thrilled, her day is made! 😁 Seeing it in person makes me desperate to write more!

And the STUFFIES?!?!! 😍 I am OBSESSED with derpy!Tiny Sonic!! Dumbo's big ears are the absolute BEST, and I need to give Muttski so many kisses, his little blep is PERFECT! 100% canon now, bless you. Shatter's wings?!?! AMAZING!! The juxtaposition of Shatter's wide, sharp toothed grin next to the sweet, old man energy coming from cute Tommy amuses me greatly. 🤣

Then there's Tails, kneeling on the couch to really get into playing pretend like a kid, so proud of him. Sonic's little side-eye complete with a sassy paw on his hip is killing me! Sweet Nine bein' all worried and embarrassed at learning how to play is PRECIOUS!!! What a happy and beautiful moment between the three of them.

I have a favorite fact, which has to do with Sonic's anatomy.

Obviously, chaos energy is used to explain a lot of "magic" but why can't it also have some basis in actual science? Birds have a high percentage of pneumatized bones (presence of air spaces in the bones, like your skull), which provide many advantages that I feel could also apply to Sonic.

The spaces in bird bones makes it easier for them to breath, handle air pressure, withstand g-force, and aid in thermoregulation. These are all abilities I feel are crucial for someone who runs faster than the speed of sound.

Chapter 5: Prey

Tails' attempt to show his appreciation backfires when it accidentally reveals another one of his secrets. Thankfully, he has a family who both loves and only wants what's best for him.

Story Summary

Tom and Maddie had their work cut out for them when they decided to adopt three traumatized alien children. By curious happenstance, all three had been isolated and forced to fend for themselves due to circumstances outside their control. However, Tails presented a unique challenge.

While Sonic and Knuckles' circumstances were no less tragic, they spent a few years under the guardianship of someone who loved them. They had memories of being cared for, of receiving instruction on how to navigate the world. Tails had no such memories, and essentially raised himself. The differences between their youngest and his older brothers are subtle and pose challenges, but they’re all committed to helping Tails understand he’s loved and a member of the family.

Finalizing touch-ups for tomorrow's chapter of "Care and Keeping" and was hit with a cheese craving. I bought a block yesterday, but when I cut into the vacuum seal, I noticed it was a little "sweaty". There wasn't any discoloration though, so I sniffed it to check . . . and immediately started retching.

No cheese for me. 😭

"My Brother is a Zombot" is a fancomic that follows Miles "Tails" Prower as he looks for a way to cure his older brother, Sonic the Hedgehog, who turned into a zombot. Because there has to be a cure- his brother is already a special case after all! Seemingly self-aware to some degree, able to recognize Tails as someone to be protected — there must be a way to turn him back.

But Tails isn't the only one to take a note of how odd the phenomena is…

Someone's Waiting for You:

Nine spent his entire life wishing someone would care; for someone to love him. After enough heartache and setbacks, he gave up on such a foolish wish and in turn became bitter and jaded. Everything changed when a blue hedgehog came barging into his life. Thankfully for Nine, this hedgehog didn't believe in giving up, and despite Nine's numerous attempts to fight it, his "childish" wish was granted. It took eight years and traveling to a different dimension, but in the end Nine gained not one, but two brothers. It took some adjusting, but Nine eventually understood what it means to be happy.

THE BABIES!!!! ✨ IT'S TOO PERFECT!!!

Look, the clip of Knuckles picking up Tails at the end of the 2nd movie is something I can watch on a loop. It's the most precious thing ever and I knew I had to make it common in my fic and YOU MADE IT REAL!!! I LOVE IT!!!! ❤️💛 Knuckles is such a good big brother! Look at that DORKY smile!! He looks so cute in the shirt!! And Tails of course is SUCH a precious little BABY!! That's exactly how I pictured it, thank you!!! Look at his wagging tails!! 💖

I just love the idea of Tails being incapable of hiding how happy he is, with the bonus of him being unaware of this. He's great at hiding his "negative" emotions, but hasn't had enough experience with the "positive" ones to do the same.

(for those unaware, see Knuckles pick up Tails under the cut. Tails is so baby and now my fic has an even better version! 😈)

Since AO3 is (apparently) still blocking tumblr from creating link previews of AO3 pages (fics, chapters, users, etc), tonight I embarked on a fool’s errand 😂

Forgetting the fact that I’ve forgotten most of the Javascript I’ve ever learned, I spent, uh, too many hours creating a quick-and-dirty simple bookmarklet to halfway automate the manual creation of the link preview. (Quick-and-dirty because I’m certain there are edge cases I haven’t accounted for and which will break things.)

Add this bookmarklet to your browser.

Go to the AO3 page (fic/chapter/user/etc) you want a link preview for.

Run the bookmarklet, copy the resulting text from the popup window.

In the tumblr editor, switch to HTML mode.

Paste the copied text.

If there are no edge cases, you now have a link preview!

There are more detailed instructions on the page in Step 1.

This semi-technical, so not for everyone; hopefully AO3 will unblock tumblr soon 🤞

Tails & Nine: *instinctively move closer to Sonic at the sight of zombot!Sonic*

Sonic: *walks toward MBIAZ!Tails, kneels, and puts his paws on Tails’ shoulders* You’ve been working so hard to bring your big bro back, huh? I may not be your Sonic, but I know for a fact he’s so proud of you for all you've done. *hugs him tightly and for as long as Tails needs*

Nine: *starts scanning zombot!Sonic with his Milo Transducer*

Tails: *grabs a rolling whiteboard out of nowhere and starts writing* All right, so how does it spread? Skin-to-skin or blood contact? It looks like you can touch him with gloves on. When did it start? Does it affect wilds or plant life?

Nine: *notices MBIAZ!Tails’ wide look* Of course we’re going to help you, idiot. Who knows how much time we have in this freaky void—so get talking. I’ve already connected to your Miles Electric so we can exchange data.

Tails: Three geniuses are better than one! *pumps the air* We'll help you in any way we can.

AAAAHHHH THIS IS AWESOME!!!!

You PERFECTLY captured the way Tails and Nine would grab onto Sonic when faced with that reality! 💖 Omigosh they're just too cute!! I NEED to cradle the way you drew Sonic comforting Tails! The way his ears are pushed back, trying desperately to stay strong and not acknowledge his suffering?! Then the look on his face when his counterparts are offering to help?! 😭 I can just FEEL the stress from him having to stay strong for such a long time in your AU! You did a great job portraying the journey of his emotions here.

Your Tails is absolutely precious and I need to squish the poor, sad baby! He just looks so traumatized, you def get a gold star in tormenting the child. Nine's "insulting" face makes me giggle, along with him wondering how Tails managed to manifest a whiteboard out of nowhere. Finally, Zombot!Sonic mindlessly inspecting the whiteboard at the end is KILLING me!

Tails hasn't reached out, so Knuckles and Sonic decide to take matters into their own paws.

Chapter 4 of . . . my gosh, how do I refer to this fic?! TCaKoYHFFKWE is insane. CAKWE or CaKWE or CAK(WE) or CaK(WE)? WCaK? Dunno, guess I'll have to workshop it later.

Anyway, chapter 4 is being rude. It was basically all written, with little seeds planted for a scene later on in the story but NOOO~! The scene was partially delayed because I couldn't figure out how to do it justice, and suddenly the inspiration hits and now I have to put it in this chapter or else it won't work.

Bear with me cuz the chapter might be posted later in the day after I get home from work, instead of before.
