The room was quiet in that soft, hazy way it always was afterwards.
The only light came from the bedside lamp, warm and dim, casting a golden glow over the sheets that had been half-pulled loose during the night.
Your breathing was still a little uneven, chest rising and falling as you lay there, limbs heavy and pleasantly tired.
Beside you, Mingyu was already moving.
He always did.
Mingyu had never been the type to just roll over and fall asleep. The moment things settled, his attention shifted completely to you.
You felt the mattress dip as he pushed himself up onto one elbow, his large hand brushing gently over your hair where it had fallen across your face.
âHey,â he murmured softly.
His voice was lower nowâcalm, warm.
You blinked up at him, eyes still a little unfocused.
âHi,â you mumbled.
The corner of his mouth lifted.
God, you looked cute like this. Flushed cheeks, hair messy, lips slightly swollen. Completely melted into the bed.
His thumb brushed lightly across your cheek.
âStill with me?â
You nodded faintly. âMhm.â
âGood.â
He leaned down, pressing a slow, lingering kiss to your forehead. Not rushed. Not needy. Just soft.
Then he pulled the blanket higher over you.
âYouâre cold,â he said automatically.
âIâm notââ
âYouâre cold.â
His arm slid around you before you could argue, tugging you against his chest like it was the most natural thing in the world.
Your cheek pressed against his warm skin, and you let out a quiet sigh without even realising.
Mingyu chuckled under his breath.
âYeah, thatâs what I thought.â
Your fingers lazily traced along his chest, still a little weak.
âDonât move,â you muttered.
âI wasnât planning on it.â
For a moment he just held you there, his hand slowly rubbing up and down your back in long, soothing motions.
After a minute he shifted slightly.
âStay here,â he said.
You frowned immediately, tightening your grip on him.
âWhere are you going?â
He laughed quietly.
âBaby, Iâm literally just grabbing water.â
âOh.â
âYou need some too.â
Before you could protest further, he slipped out of the bed and padded across the room. You watched him through half-lidded eyes as he returned with two glasses.
When he climbed back in, he slid an arm behind your shoulders and gently lifted you against his chest.
âDrink.â
You took the glass, sipping slowly while he watched like he was making sure you actually did it.
âGood?â he asked.
You nodded.
Then he set the glass aside and pulled you right back into him, your head tucked under his chin this time.
His hand found your hair again, combing through it gently with his fingers.
âYou okay?â he asked softly.
The question was quiet, genuine.
Mingyu always checked.
You hummed against him.
âYeah.â
âToo tired?â
âA little.â
âMm.â
He pressed another kiss to the top of your head.
âCâmere.â
You were already there, but he still adjusted you slightly, tucking the blanket around your shoulders and wrapping both arms around you like he intended to keep you there all night.
Your leg slid over his instinctively.
LHe smiled to himself.
A few minutes passed in comfortable silence.
Then you felt his hand gently rubbing circles on your arm.
âYou were amazing tonight,â he murmured.
You groaned softly, hiding your face in his chest.
âDonât start.â
âWhat?â he teased.
âYouâre embarrassing.â
âIâm complimenting you.â
You could practically hear the smug grin in his voice.
You pinched his side weakly.
He laughed, the sound vibrating under your cheek.
âAlright, alright.â
His hand returned to stroking your back, slow and steady.
âJust rest.â
Your breathing gradually evened out again, your body relaxing further into his warmth.
Just before you drifted off, you felt Mingyu press one more soft kiss to your hair.
